"This was the most inexpensive 3 wt fly combo I found that looked to be resonably well built. When I received it I was surprised to find that it was extremely nice for the money and it casts very well. I am very satisfied with it and will think about this same series of rod and reel If I need another combo."

"I bought this combo in a three weight and liked it so well I bought another in five weight. Then I bought a three weight for a friend. I love the medium action of the rod. It casts as well as any rod I have used. The quality is great for the price and Cabelas stands behind their product. I use this combo more than any of my other outfits."

"I purchased the 7wt. combo. It has been tested well for the few weeks I've owned it w/ countless 3-4# large mouth and some smallies. The feel is good but a little on the heavy side, but not to bad. It will definately last through what i will put it through on a regular basis. For those looking to buy one as a begginer outfit or novice I recommend this one. For bass fisherman like myself get one!!! there is nothing more fun than to land a 3-4# bass with a fly rod. They are also good to use the rod as a crappie pool if fishing on the bank, just put a spinning reel on and your set."

"I got this 3wt combo for small brookies and bream. It casts really nice. I was very pleased how easily I could lay out a nice cast. I caught some fat 9 inch blue gills with this combo and it made for a real fun fight. The reel is very smooth. This is a great light weight fly rod combo at a reasonable price. I definitely recommend it."

"I bought this combo as a second fly rod outfit. I took it to a local lake to try it out on panfish. It was perfect with it's nine foot reach and good balance. It was lighter than I expected and easy to cast and fish. I can't wait to take it on larger streams."

"I finally got a chance to take this combo out this past weekend. I had no issues (other than the fish didn't seem too active!) and it was quite enjoyable to cast. It would be a great combo for a beginner. You have to spool up the line yourself, but if you're a tackle junkie like me, it's all part of the enjoyment. It gave me an excuse to research and learn some new knots!"

"I use the 4 piece, 8 weight rod and prestige plus combo with mono line for downrigging for trout, walleye and pike. This is a tough rod that can handle the big ones. The large arbor reel holds a lot of line and has a great drag. It's a blast to land a big fish with this combo. Price is great for the quality."

"I purchased the #3 rod and #1 reeal for fishing out of my kayak in the spillway. The combo held up well to a 5.5 bass and I got the fight of my life. ( I have pictures to prove it.) I followed this fish up with a 2.5 ft. gar and quicky found out the value of having a net. Along with great customer service this would still be a real deal at three times the money."

Lot of Rod for not much money,

"My father had a 7 1/2 ft, 3 wt Cabela's Three Forks/Prestige Plus Fly Combo with Fly Line on our fishing trip this fall. I used it extensively in place of my Loomis 4 and 5 WT rods. I fished on a number of streams from creeks to rivers including the Green and Heny's Fork. I caught numerous fish up to 19 inches with no problem. The rod had plenty of backbone and a fast action. I could easily throw my fly and a dropper setup 50 ft. The light weight and solid feel makes this setup extremely fishable all day without wearing out my arm. I liked it so well that as soon as I got home I ordered my own rod. Can't wait to get out after them."

"For all practical purposes, this combo was a gift to my brother (in October 2008), who has been absent from Fly Fishing for 25 years until his reuniting last spring; the combo is a great and inexpensive but very funtional and easy way to enjoy the art. I would highly recommend this as a great beginner's set up !"

"I ordered an 8'6 6wt in the fall of 2007 and loved it from the first cast. I use it for larger trout streams here in NC and wanted a smaller lighter wt combo for some of the more narrow and tight streams, so I ordered a 7'6 3wt. I haven't used it yet but expect it to be as good as my other Cabelas combo."

Good Equip But...,

"The rod and reel came in great shape. I cannot wait to use the equipment but what I thought would happen did not. The reel came with backing, line and leader but it was not preloaded. I thought the line would already be on the reel. I thought it would be professionally done. So, I will have to buy line from a local vendor and have them put it on the reel. I'm sure if I bought the outfit from the store directly, they would have put it on the reel? Something Cabella's should do for online purchasers!"
