TENDER TIPS,
September 4, 2009
By GLFMAN
from Western Wisconsin
|
"Used this rod a couple of times... Seems to cast fine and is great for the tight spaces I fish in but it is simply not durable enough. Broke the rod tip with a lite bump into the back seat of the truck and figured that's not to bad so I replaced the tip guide and before I could land the first fish after that it snapped about two inches closer to the first line guide. I'm replacing it with the one I SHOULD have purchased to start with as the back up rod to my 21 year old ORV___. The good news is that Cabela's customer service is outstanding and the online support fixed me up well. Just remember you get what you pay for most of the time!"

Great Rod, great value,
March 28, 2009
By TPN1
from Pittsburgh, PA
|
"I recently picked up the 7'6" 3 weight...and all i can say is that it is an amazing small stream rod. I haven't tried to toss any size 8 streamers yet but wet flies, nymphs and all sizes of dry flies are cast very easily. i would definitely recommend this rod to anyone looking for a small stream rod. I have been fly fishing for 12 years and this is one of my go to rods."

"bought the 3wt about 3 years ago for still water gills and a light trout rod and have had great luck with this little gem, it is not as refined as a Orvis trout bum how ever it casts nearly as well, I liked it so much I bought the 10wt as a pike/muskie rod but have yet to throw any line with this one yet... spring is coming though"

Cabela's Three Forks Fly Rod,
October 1, 2008
By RonSct

"I purchased two of the Three Forks fly rods. One 6wt and one 8wt. I have fished them both now, and can say with authority that they are very nice fly rods. The quality is as good as rods costing a lot more. Cannot get over how nice they cast the fly line! Great looks as well!
You cannot beat the price for the quality that you get! I highly recommend these rods!"

Good fly rod for trolling,
September 21, 2008
By coditribeplm
from New Mexico
|
"Bought the 4 piece, 8 weight rod and large prestige plus reel for trolling monofilament off a downrigger. Works fine and has enough backbone to bring in good size walleyes without stopping the boat. A nice change of pace from using heavier trolling gear, plus every fish feels large! The fighting butt is perfect for using an ordinary rod holder."

Great little 3wt,
September 10, 2008
By AndrewMO
from Baldwin City, KS
|
"I love the 3wt Three Forks rod. I had one of the old ones from before the revision, but I sold it like a fool, so I bought one of the new ones a few months ago. The rod is a bit faster than the old one, but not enough to make a difference. It has a delicate tip, with great butt strength for lifting that one pound gill from his weedy lair! You can throw size 10 woolly buggers with this rod, as well as a #20 dry fly. Enjoy!"

Newby,
August 12, 2008
By Godan

"I purchased the four piece outfit and found it to be better than I expected. It came with a rod sock and I kept the tube it was shipped in to trasport it untill I get a rod case. I received the package within three days and after instaling the backing, line and leader, I went in the back yard and practiced casting. It had been many years since I last fly fished, but it came back easily. I went to a small nearby pond and tied on a popper. I caught a couple of small bass that very first time. I am not nuts about the drag, but I can't complain considering the price. I also think that some basic instructions (a pamphlet) would be very usefull for first timmers. I knew how to tie the backing and line...and how to attach a leader, but most first time fly fishing people might look at all the gear and scratch their head. A great value. I am going to purchase a few more as gifts and as an introduction to friends."

Great Rod, Great Service,
August 11, 2008
By NMFly
from Santa Fe, NM

"Bought the 7'6" 3wt. combo for my son and then my nephew who are just learning. You can't touch this quality at twice the price. Better yet is Cabela's service. Nephew broke his (sat on it!!) and they replaced without question. Offered to send me a new one right away before they rec'd the exchange if I didn't have another rod to fish! Why is Cabela's the 500lb gorilla? Because they deliver great product and service at a great price."
