Good....BUT!,November 11, 2009
By uncamudfrom northwestern Wi.
"Very handi to use, but kinda hard to get set up if there is a flasher nearby. If no flashers around, its almost amazing in its ability to pickup fish and their proximity to your bait. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if they can figure out how to eliminate bleedover from nearby flashers."

Incredible unit!,November 9, 2009
By Slabberdaddyfrom Shell Lake, WI
"I bought a showdown at the beginning of the ice fishing season last year and do not have one regret! I was originally going to buy a flasher, but after researching the showdown, I decided to give it a try. It is simple to use, extremely accurate, a lot less money than a flasher and I put more fish on the ice than I ever thought possible. The unit shows fish and your jig; move your jig an inch and you can see it move on the display. The zoom feature is great for bottom hugging eyes and crappies which are the species I typically fish. Only one time did I have an interference issue that I could not completely clear up. I used it about 50 times last season and the unit has held up well. The unit stopped working during one trip and it was a blown fuse; I recommend carrying extra fuses. I have never owned a flasher so I can not compare, but I am extremely happy with this finder and could not fish without it! I cannot wait to get back out there, I'll see you on the ice!"

Worth the money,November 7, 2009
By COlandsurveyorfrom Western Colorado
"I have been around vexs' for years and they are a better unit, but for the price the showdown can't be beat. I bought one last year and have used it alot, not only ice fishing but in my float tube as-well, it's skinny & tall so it fits perfectly in one of the side pockets with the screen out the top. I have little problems running it right next to my buddy's vex, sometimes noise rejection alone doesn't work but have to mess with the sensitivity also, this is what make the vex better. My only complaint is that the case is neoprene and soaks up water. This happened to me and I stored the unit in the wet case and the moisture got into the unit and fogged up the inside of the screen and caused minor keypad malfunction. I brought it home and dried it out and have had no problems since."

suspended crappies,February 2, 2009
By thejigmanfrom northeast pa
"Have been trying to pattern winter crappies on a large impoundment without much {any} success. Took my showdown into water which I have avoided for years due to the depth. Set up in 55 feet of water and began to mark fish in the 30 to 35 foot range.Immediately put my jig in the range and caught a 14 inch crappie. Sat out there many days since and have enjoyed tremendous action all a result of this units sensitivity and ease of operation. I own a vexlar but get headaches from all the colors and flashes. The showdown seperation is remarkable-- move the jig a few inches and follow it on the graph. IT"S ALMOST LIKE CHEATING! One fault as simple as it gets-- the rubber transducer ring is flimsy and falls off easily. I deposited mine on the bottom of the lake the first time out. A simple clothes pin works just fine."

spend the money,January 20, 2009
By jd65
"This unit is just okay. I have the lowrance x67 ice machine, purchased the showdown for a secondary unit for other people that go with me. I bought it thinking that it would be good seeing that the guys from in fisherman endorse it. It is easy to set up, the screen is small and the case is very cheap and tends to stick to the ice. If I were to do it again, probably spend the extra money and buy either another lowrance or a vex or hummingbird."

Gotta go verical,January 20, 2009
By NDADfrom Hartford, CT
"I did the research and crunched the numbers just like may before and after me have and will do. In the end it came down to comfort and ease of use. My buddy has the higher end Vexalar (cost him over $400) and I had a go at it last year. After trying that and then seeing a product with the same outcome but easier read and half the price it was a no brainer. The Showdown does take a little getting used to, but what now a days doesn't. It is easier to read with the vertical view, and I have had it in bright sun and low light without any problem. It's only been a little while since I've owned it but so far it holds up to the test."

Red lake test,January 18, 2009
By wyatt925from McIntosh Mn
"I read all the other reviews and product test before purchasing the Showdown. The first time out with this unit was on red lake and it worked great. I sat maybe 12 feet from a vexilar fl8 and had 12 volt fans annd lights running and I only had to set the noise setting at 3. Reading the vertical screen was a lot nicer than the other units and it picked up eveything right down to a not in my line. I watched fish and my jig with ease. The Showdown so far has proven to be a very good unit."

Showdown lowdown,January 4, 2009
By haggardwfrom UT
"The good - it is definitely accurate to within 1/2 inch target separation and target acquisition.... very cool.... VERY ....did I say VERY? This accuracy for 3 bills is khul (i have a couple others and although they are better overall, they are not this accurate) It is compact and easy to pack up and run to the next hole, overall the design in excellent. I like the up / down vs the circle...
The bad... The noise cancellation does not work at all... If you are within 15ft of another unit, you get nada, garbage, fuzz.... The sensitivity is only useful on auto, get into the weeds and u r stuck...This is a deal breaker for me. I like color, this is greyscale, not a big complaint, but hey, its a complaint...
The Showdown would be my choice in the $300 range of flasher if the noise cancellation and sens worked... It kicks but with the 1/2 inch stuff...."

Cheap,December 29, 2008
By nystrip66from Upstate NY
"Ordered this item twice, both times was sent back to manufacturer without ever being taken out onto the ice. First time, after completely charging, item would not power "on". Second time, the battery case was broken and the battery had a hole in it. Didn't want to wait for a third strike, went with a MarCum"

nice but not so nice,December 21, 2008
By gillfishingfrom illinois
"great product. had mine for a year now and it still works good as new. one problem though if you have a buddy right next to you or 20 ft away with a vexlar your screen receives what he is getting and also what you are so you need to change the sensitivity down."

Defective units,December 18, 2008
By rocutler
"received first unit and used 2 days and lcd screen went out. called manufacturer and they said they would send out fully tested unit to replace first unit. received second unit and found transducer to be defective. had to turn sensitivity all the way up to get a jig flicker at 15 foot of water. I know these units to be defective because i tried the second transducer on first unit and still not working, and tried the first unit transducer on second unit then that cured having to raise sensitivity all the way up to see jig on second unit. Too many other issues to mention so i sent both units back and asked for refund. I would change my rating from 1 star to 5 stars if the manufacturer would work out all the bugs."

best graph on the market,November 21, 2008
By mathewsbowsfrom Fisher, MN
"I was talked into getting one last year and was happy with my decision. I would recommend one to anyone who is looking for a new fish graph. They are the easiest to read by far, and are also very quiet unlike the MarCum. There is very little interference with vexilars, but more with the MarCums."

Showdown Vertical Graph,May 1, 2008
By Icerheyfrom U.P. of Michigan
"This is an excellent graph, which is extremely easy to read and operate. It clearly marked both jigs and fish in depths of 100 feet of water. Additionally, the unit also demonstrated a very good operating time while on the ice. Considering the sensitivity of this unit, and the affordable price tag I am very pleased with this purchase."

Best ice fishing tool money can buy.,February 20, 2008
By gregnmissyfrom Buffalo NY
"I have never owned a "flasher" for ice fishing. My buddies always have and most of the time have outfished me. Now that I bought a Showdown I am outfishing them with their convential flashers. One of them has even gone as far as going out to get one."
