Handy - even when broken!,
July 3, 2009
By fumblefingers

"I broke this little scale about 20 seconds after I took it out of the packaging - as my husband was telling me to be careful with it! Oh, well. Just be aware - do not turn it counterclockwise past zero! We still use it, it just took some fiddling to learn how to use it backward. I don't regret buying it at all."

Use with caution!!!,
June 16, 2009
By NWTraveler

"Used this to check our bags before we returned from Maui. I wasn't sure how accurate they were so I only packed to 46 lbs to leave some wiggle room. The airport scale read 50.5 lbs (they didn't charge me). I checked the bag on a calibrated scale at home, thinking the airline scale was incorrect. The airline scale was correct and my travel scale was 4.5 lbs off. I continued to play with the scale and could not get an accurate or even a consistant reading no matter what I tried.
I do not recommend this scale because it is not accurate or consistant."

Non-accurate scale,
May 26, 2009
By JoeDirt

"I have to agree with the other comments. This is probably the first product that I purchased from Cabela's that just doesn't work. A simple design that isn't accurate and will get you in trouble at the airport if you are not careful. It registers too high, then too low. I ended up emptying part of my suitcase at the ticket counter b/c this item was wrong! Lucky for me I had a carry-on I could shove clothes into for my flight back home. Stay away from this product!"

Inexpensive recording scale,

"Scale is smaller & lightweight, mostly plastic. Does not have a tare mechanism. Recording indicator is easy to read and to reset. Incorporated measuring tape is pointless and doesn't retract well."

Stop and Lock Scale,
January 20, 2009
By Stacia
from North Platte, NE
|
"This worked great for our recent trip to Disney World! We had five in our party and we weighed everyone's bags before we had to check them in at the airline. The scale is very accurate and made well. Someone previously reported that the scale does not go back to zero after weighing heavy items, it's not supposed to. You have to return it back to zero yourself, that way you can pick the bag up with the scale and set it back down without worrying if you can see the scale while you're holding your bag. It holds the number on the scale for you until you reset it. Very good idea, just wished I had it when I went to Vegas and had to pay extra for overloaded bag."

On a SCALE of 1 to 10,
October 28, 2008
By Anonymous
from Phoenix, Arizona

"In this day and age of air travel, one ounce over the 50-pound limit & it's sorry, Dude, that'll be another 50 bucks (or 25 bucks, or whatever the going rate is for the airline you're using). We had 4 checked suitcases, two of which were about 5 pounds under, and two that were a couple of pounds over, what with souvenirs, etc. Before we ever left our room, we were able to weigh each suitcase and transfer just enough from the overweight bags to the underweight bags, making sure all 4 were under 50 pounds. The little scale was easy to use, lightweight to pack, accurate, and the smartest money we've ever spent in all our years of travelling and hunting around the world. We will never leave home to go to the airport without it!. On a SCALE of 1 to 10? This scale is a 20! Thanks for making it so cheap. Toni Traveler"

Travelon Stop and Lock Scale,
June 23, 2008
By Rubycon

"This is the handiest gadget I have ever travelled with.
My friend brought one to Roatan. It is the best. Not one of us got charged with overweight luggage, because it enabled us to move things around before we got to the airport. It's easy to use and lightweight itself and folds up small for great travel storage.
I recommend this highly."

Worth its Weight in Gold,
April 22, 2008
By francomartino
from Bloomfield Hills, MI

"I normally travel to Europe with two suitcases. Invariably, one of the suitcases exceeds the 50 lb allowance while the other one is under the weight allowance. This means paying a hefty penalty or trying to rebalance the suitcases at the ticket counter while a long line of impatient travelers waits for you to do your balancing act. Well, with the Travelon Scale that is a thing of the past. I pack exactly the right amount at home and no longer pay excess weight penalties."

Tavelon Stop and Lock Scale,
April 14, 2008
By Kokie
|
"The idea of a travel scale these days of airline 50 lbs limits and penalties for over weight luggage. This unit is compact and easy to carry on. I bought 2 of these units and each shows a diffrerent weight for the same item. One showed a slightly higer weight than the item was and the other was lower. So you have to be careful when you are nearing the limit. The quality of both scales are fair the stop lock feature is a good idea but does not work well. It mostly stops in the wrong place so its no a reliable indecator of the max weight that was registerd. Well it is a cheap scale and you get what you pay for with this unit."

Can double as a bow weight scale.,
March 2, 2008
By AZOUTDOORSMAN
from ARIZONA

"The unit works well for its intended purpose. I haven't been hit with an overweight bag fee by the airlines since I started useing it. It works a heck of a lot better than trying to balance a large suitcase on a bathroom scale. I have also found it useful as a scale to check, and adjust the draw weight of my compund bows. and weighing other odd items around the house."
