Deluxe Tripod,

"This tripod should not be advertised for use with a rifle. The "cap" which would support a rifle, in reality is a camera support. When the tripod's legs are spread, the "cap" does not remain level. It's extremely difficult to keep a rifle resting in the "cap." This product would be suitable for use as a shooting tripod ONLY if a U-shaped attachment were affixed to the "cap"...as other products use. I'm sorry I bought it."

"The tripod is reasonably sturdy, particularly considering its light weight. However, the only way to adjust the tripod height is to vary the length of the legs by unscrewing/re-screwing all three legs. You can't open the legs wider to accomplish the height adjustment because there is a bracing lanyard between the two back legs. By the time you complete this trial and error process of leg adjustment, the game will have long since run off.
THE critical function of any field shooting rest is a rapid height adjustment independent of the legs. Fortunately, Cabelas has a reasonable return policy, and this device is a clear candidate for same."

"The stand was a great deal and work very well, the rest on top that holds the gun needs to have a little better protection for the rifle. But some pipe isolation solved that problem. Works very well."

"Excellent product that I wish had been available years ago when I started hunting Africa as these type of shooting sticks EVERY PH (professional hunter) has and uses, and it vastly improves one's marksmanship. As usual, these shooting sticks are the standard Cabela's quality so you are getting the biggest bang for one's buck. They are light and set up very quickly; can't find any faults in this products. Thanks Cabela's for another awesome product."

"I purchased Cabela's tripod which was used on an antelope hunt in Wyoming. When I was packing it for my trip, the insert in one of the legs broke and it would not contract or extend. I immediately called Cabelas' and they sent me another in overnight express at their expense. The have the best customer service.
The second day of the hunt I used my tripod to harvest an excellent antelope. The shot was approximately 200 yards. The tripod gave me an solid rest. The ability to use this tripod from kneeling to standing positions is an excellent feature.
The only thing that I would change would be to install a rotating/pivot head similiar to those on a camera (which I did), this would allow the base where you set your rifle on to always be at a level position."

"7 strokes took me out of my airborne/ranger mode but didn't quit hunting and the deluxe tripod is outstanding in every aspect . the ability to set leg positions is 2nd to none and the simplicity of operation is a blessing. fine shooting platform."

"This tripod worked very well. I tried someone elses bipod and it didn't have the stability I need while Antelope hunting. The third leg helped a lot. The only issues I had with the tripod is while carring it the third leg kept opening up and wouldn't stay closed and it could use a V shape support instead of the flat support. At first I didn't like the way the support turns so freely, but it worked well for tracking the animals as they moved."

"Light weight, readily height adjustable, and stable. So far, I've shot only paper targets from it and haven't used it for game (plan to for elk this fall). Seems to be what I'm looking for. Wish it came with more of a V-shaped gun rest as it may add additional stablity; reckon I'll add one from another source. Impresses me as being priced at the maximum price point for good quality. Dropping the price 15% would help ensure it is a good value as well as well-made product."
