"I am very pleased with this purchase. I have been wearing this parka everyday for the past 6 months. It is a perfect jacket for the negative 20 degree winters in the Rocky Mountains. I walk my dog every morning and wait for the bus in the elements morning and evening. I have never been cold in this parka. This parka is breathable. I have never gotten chilled from feeling damp. What I love the most about it is the hood. It is warm and the way the front zipper works it holds the hood up so it doesn't smash a person's hair. Very nice! The embroidery on the pockets, etc. is very stylish. The only negative thing I have to say about this parka is that I wish the sleeves had the same insulation as the body. The sleeves can feel a little cool on the coldest days."

"The Parka is more than a jacket . The detaling on the coat definently makes the parka a little more of a dress jacket if you are going somewhere and need a little something nice. "Its the warmest jacket I've ever bought. There has been a couple of days here where it has been -10F. , and this coat has kept me very warm throughout the time I was out in the elements. "I ordered this coat online and it arrived quicker than I anticipated, which is always a nice surprise. I wasn't sure I should test it the first day after it came; the temperature was below zero, and there was a stiff breeze. I was pleasantly surprised at how warm it was and how well it blocked out the wind. I didn't wear any extra layers underneath it and it was quite comfortable, and I HATE being cold. The hood is not of the roll-up-under-the collar style which means it is insulated, as well. It does a much better job than a single layer of fabric on many coats and is very effective against cold and wind. Cinching it a bit with the cords makes a nice, snug fit.
The coat is very light-weight. It doesn't feel bulky or restrictive or confining. The outer fabric has a nice feel and it doesn't have a 'crunchy' sound unless it's very cold out and then it's very slight. I wanted a longer length, like this coat, and the ability to zip it up from the bottom for sitting in the car is a nice feature. The embroidery is a nice touch, too.
The only drawbacks I find are these: The waist cinchers snug it up nicely but they are too close to the front zipper and the excess elastic loops are in the way when zipping up. I am accustomed to a coat with many more pockets and I do miss those on this coat. Another pocket or two on the outside would be handy, but then that would be an entire different style.
All in all I recommend this coat. It is probably the warmest coat I have ever owned and the price was right. A very good value. If you like the look of this coat, buy it. I think you'll like it.
I am not a long-term Cabela's customer. This is one of the first items I ever ordered from them. But this order led to another, and I believe I will be spending money with them again."

"I bought this coat for a trip to London, England, in November, where I planned lots of outside activities from morning to night. The temperatures ranged from the 30s to the 50s. As I'm from southern California, that's really cold for me! The coat kept me very warm and comfortable except for the coldest night, where I wore just a lightweight cotton turleneck under it. If I'd have put on a fleece vest underneath I would have been fine. Doh!
The coat has plenty of room through the shoulders, and the hood came far enough over my head that it gave good protection from rain. The hood has an adjustment strap in the back so you can decide how far over you want the hood to come. The hood also has pulls to adjust how it frames your face. The hood is very warm, so I didn't need to wear a knit cap under it.
That strap and a tiny bit on the inside pocket are the only places where the jacket has velcro. Someone else noted that, and I agree that it's wonderful not to have velcro in the front, where it could pull your scarves apart. There's an inside pocket with a zipper, too.
The double zipper gives freedom of movement when climbing stairs or riding a bike. I wore it while riding a bicycle through Hyde Park in breezy weather, probably 45 degrees with occasional rain patches. What a wonderful coat!
I wore a size Large and it fit nicely. I wear a size 12-14 in other clothes, if that helps you pick a size for you. The XLarge was far too big.
The coat was comfortable, roomy, extremely well made -- very high quality throughout. And warm, without making me look like a snowman! When I returned from London, I just tossed the coat in the wash and it came out beautifully. This is the best coat ever!"
