do they fly,
February 18, 2009
By Fowlhunter81

"They say they fly in really low wind but I just took them out yesterday and the wind was 30+ miles per hour and we still had to keep getting up and throwing them back in the air. When they work they really bring in the geese but kind of a pain to keep them in the air."

Reel Wings Canada Goose Decoy,
February 3, 2009
By TAGJR
from Mount Jackson, Virginia
|
"These are great as long as you have pretty heavy constant wind. Ten miles per hour won't cut it but if you have a windy day they look and work great. They recommend using Gorilla Glue on the wings to make sure they don't come apart which seems to add weight and gets all over everything. Be sure to do this outside!"

"I've used the reel wings a couple of times and it really does look good up in the air. I do recognize that it takes a sustained wind to keep it in the air and with out that it won't work as well. A lot of geese came a lookin!"

"We've had great luck with this product I put lighter line on and added alot more to the wrap I also shaved the wings thinner that helped big time when there's wind we wont hunt with out them you can't beat how they turn birds toward our spread."

reel wings,

By straightleg

"this product gave me a migraine from the first time I opened the package. You need at least a constant 20 mph wind to keep this in the air and in Md. we don't have this wind. The Reel wings looked good when I would get it to fly, never had a chance to see geese interact with this item. I sent this back and got credit from Cabelas. Thanks Cabelas for being a customer friendly company."

Reel Wings Decoy Fails To Fly,
January 7, 2008
By okjc
from Oklahoma Goose Hunter
|
"The Reel Wing Decoy is promoted and shown in a video to fly in the air similar to but better than the old kite decoys for the purpose of providing motion and attraction in the air. The product is able to be launched easily enough and does exactly as promoted and shown in the video - except it will not stay up in the air. Even when the wind is perfect and with all manner of variations tried in line length, etc. the decoy will only stay airborne for a few minutes at a time. I seldom was able to keep in the air for more than 5 or 10 minutes - maximum was 30 minutes one time only. I repeatedly experimented with the decoy while working outside on my 7 acre country yard. I was never able to achieve results enough to dare take it on hunts as it would be more harm and maintenance than good. Great idea, great video, looks great when it is in the air, the turning wings part works perfect, but all of this is of no use if it just falls to the ground."

WOW!!,

"I did find that you need to read the directions and let out all the line before launching your decoys and fly them about 20-30 yards behind your spread, this is the most realistic and deadly decoy I have used in my 30+ years of hunting and NEVER seen birds come in so hard in my life! I started just using 1 and now I fly 12. If you dont have one of these I recommend you give them a try. they are amazingly realistic."

"I recently tried this product in a 15mph wind. (not a steady blow) I found it very hard to launch. When I did get it up, it looked very good and flew well. However if the wind droped a little, it fell to the ground. I feel there needs to be a steady wind over 15mph to make this a usefull product. If a lighter material could be used, so it would fly in a 5mph to 10mph it would be a usefull product. I see a lot of potential in this product."
