When you combine a wealth of new technology with the tried and true components, you get the reliable Stradic FI. Built with an aluminum spool on an aluminum frame with graphite sideplate and rotor, this reel has a sturdy base to work off of. Inside, you'll find new features like the Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement. It uses a cold-forged aluminum drive gear and special hardened brass pinion gear that's more durable than all-stainless-steel drivetrains with a smoothness that will last longer. The all-new Propulsion Line Management System uses a propulsion spool, SR one-piece bail wire, Power Roller III, redesigned bail trip mechanism and S-arm cam. Those five components work together to provide longer, more accurate casts with less effort while drastically reducing the chance of backlash, wind knots or tangles. The Aerowrap II Oscillation worm gear system plays into that by reducing friction and increasing efficiency for longer, more accurate casts. Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings (S A-RB®) use either rubber or stainless steel shields to keep water and dirt from building up. The machined-aluminum handle with Septon handle grips has a direct-drive mechanism (threaded directly into the drive gear) to eliminate play and increase transmission of power. A waterproof drag prevents dirt and water intrusion. Maintenance port allows for easy lubrication of the drivetrain. Stopperless design on the 6000 and 8000 models only. Spare aluminum spool included.

3000 model,October 8, 2009
By northernjerzeyhunterfrom Northern, New Jersey
"used this reel for a season before i reviewed. i have the 3000 model matched up with a 6'6" XMLti rod. very POOR bail. problems with it right out of the box. weak/cheesy feel to it. other than that very smooth reeling and very smooth drag system, EXCELLENT line management & castability. i give it a 4 because a reel that costs almost $200 should have a somewhat decent bail on it. don't think i'd buy another."

AWESOME REEL!,August 5, 2009
By Dragonslayer1from FL
"I am not a casual fisherman, I am a USCG Capt. and guide. I fish several times a week in the Florida panhandle and have put this reel to the test this year. I have never rated another product before but felt compelled to do so. I have caught nearly every fish in the Gulf and bays on the ST4000FI and it has performed flawlessly. Big mackeral and blacktip sharks will test a drag like few other inshore fish with their great speed and the Shimano is the smoothest I've ever seen. Grouper and snapper test the internal components with their brute power and this reel has the goods. Smooth with a capital S."

Best Reel For the Money,April 21, 2009
By gumby1from LaCrescent Minnesota
"I recently replaced 2 old Stradic 1000's with the new 2500's. So far the performance has been amazing. The 2500 holds a ton of 6 lb diameter Power Pro and casts an unbelievable distance. The reels are smooth and function flawlessly. So far the reels show no wear with day after day of grueling Mississippi River fishing. The reel's drag can handle huge fish with no problem. While fishing for walleys I hooked and landed a 45 lb sturgeon and a 32 lb carp. Both fish ran off at least 75 yds of line before I turned them. The performance of the 15 lb drag was everything you have come to expect from Shimano. I would never purchase any other reel than a Stradic."

stradic 2500 FI,February 17, 2009
By fortfisherfrom Kannapolis, NC
"Extremely pleased with this reel. Spooled with 20lb braid it can handle practically anything I fish for at the coast. Low maintenance, ease of casting and durability make it an ideal choice for flounder, drum and trout as well as many other species. The extra spool included is a big plus as we can change over instantly if there is any problem. I use 4 feet of 20 lb flourocarbon leader to help with lure action and boating the fish."

excellent upgrade,February 5, 2009
By Anonymousfrom boca grande,fl
"living and guiding in s.w. fla the harsh salt water enviroment is extremly hard on reels.I have gone through countless stratics in the past with great results, this new 3000 with 10 lb. braided line and 7'-7.5' rod is a perfect backcountry combo.and the side port for quick oiling is first in it's class!"

Excellent Reel,January 8, 2009
By RJDRYFEETfrom Penn Yan, NY
"I recently put my new Stradic to use on my primary perch rig. I wanted a light, smooth reel, that was free of any noise or slop. Much of my perch fishing is done in the winter and cold months of early spring, so cold weather function is important as well. The reel has functioned flawlessly and has a quality feel and finish. A step up from the Symetre that I used for years, the Stradic is by comparison, slightly more compact and posseses smart enhancements (stronger, smoother gears, sealed lube port, improved anti-reverse, etc.) that should further improve durability. I have come to realize that with things like reels, you get what you pay for, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another."

Stradic 3000,January 5, 2009
By axilleus17from West Virginia
"Beautiful design, by far the finest spinning reel I've ever owned. Silky retrieve and the new spool lip actually gives you a longer cast, not just an advertising ploy. Works great with 8lb. flurocarbon for smallmouth. Not bad to look at either. Well worth the money."

Consistent Quality,November 20, 2008
By ccktmlfrom Missouri Ozarks
"I have several of the previous Stradic Models and had to give the new FI model a try. I've used the reel once so far. It performed flawlessly as expected. I have acquired several of the Stradic style reels over the years and each new model continues to build on the strength of the previous while incorporating new improvements. Too early to tell about durability on this one since I have only used it once, but I guarantee it will be given a good workout. If it is as good (or better) than then the previous models, I am sure I will not be disappointed."

Bad Bail on 2500,October 28, 2008
By puddley1from I am right on the GREAT LAKE'S
"I got a Stradic 2500 and the bail would stick when trying to open it,Not all of the time just now and then,And it makes a sliding noise (Metal to Metal).Sent it in for Warranty work, Bail still sticks now and then noise still there and when they shipped it back to me Put it into a box loose handle and reel hit each other and dented REEL up! If you get a good one they are great! works like butter! Thats a 5 star But if you get a bad one and have to send it in that is 1 star. I have never gotten to use this reel yet! BUT it looks good ,Well not the dents now"

Stradic 5000 for blues and strippers,October 18, 2008
By michjwtrfrom Fairfield, CT
"I started plugging for blues and strippers from the reefs and beaches along the Connecticut shores 42 years ago using the then-standard Mitchell 302. When the Shamano graphite reels became available I tried one. Fished with that light weight beauty for nearly 25 years and landed many 7-9 pound blues.I finally retired old faithful and bought the Stradic 5000 three years ago. Since then boated easily over 50 9-12 pounders not to mention over a hundred Taylors (2-4 pounders) with absolutely no mechanical problems. Add to those a 35 and a 41 inch stripper. These reels are indistructible! Once I had this balanced, wobble free reel in my hand I had to have it. The reel spins like a gyroscope! Maintainance? Wash it down at the dock with the boat hose. Anti-reverse bearing coupled with a Fireline type minimum stretch line and notice the positive hook setting capability leading to fewer misses. Since then I have added 2 more 5000's and an ultralight Stradic reel for snapper blues. Just ordered a Shimano Baitrunner for live lining and chunkin'. I'm staying with Shimano."

Stradic FI,October 7, 2008
By Saltyakfrom Coastal Plain of Georgia
"The new 3000 series is the best Stradic ever and I bought two of them. THey are as smooth as my old Sustains at less cost. I replaced a 12 year old Stradic 2000 with these new reels. Have caught reds up to 28 inches on these and some hoss flounder and gator trout."
