UTV Front Bumper for Polaris Razr,July 7, 2009

"We liked the price for one thing. The bumper was fairly easy to put on. I say fairly because we had to purchase longer bolts for attaching it to the Razr, and I think better instructions could be added. Other then that it was easy to put on and it looks very good on the vehicle. We are very pleased with the purchase."

"I DO LIKE THIS PRODUCT VERY MUCH. ONE THING I DID NOT REALIZE WAS THAT IT IS JUST THE TOP HALF OF THE BUMPER, IT IS NOT ALL ONE UNIT. YOU ATTACH IT TO THE EXSISTING BUMPER. I HAVE A POLARIS RANGER AND ONCE ATTACHED IT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO LIFT THE HOOD SO I HAD TO USE PINS WHERE THE TOP TWO BOLTS WERE SUPPOSE TO GO, WHEN YOU DO THAT YOU CAN UNPIN IT AND THE TOP HALF WILL PULL BACK FAR ENOUGH TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE HOOD. OTHER THAN THAT IT IS A VERY GOOD PRODUCT."

"Once this is installed, this is a great unit. I had a lot of trouble getting all the wholes to line up. Trick is to leave the bolts as loose as possible and get all them started, then finger tighten them and finish with a wrench."

"I tried to install a front bumper on my Polaris RZR. The bumper looked very good but when I went to install it, the hardware was wrong and engineered very poorly. I could have modified it to make it work but it would only be for looks. Because of the way the bottom mounting brackets were made it wouldn't have any strength."

"Cabela's ordering process went very well, and the bumper showed up a few days ahead of schedule. Having just installed an Extreme Metal Products rear bumper on my 2007 Mule 610, I was a bit concerned that this bumper was quite light duty - the rear bumper is definitely more solid and far heavier. The directions for the Bison front bumper are not particularly good, but the install process is fairly straightforward. First, I found that removing the plastic bumper cover on the Mule makes the install significantly easier. Second, I found that the bumper mount, which attaches to the stock bumper mount points, take a good bit of force to install. After reading the reviews, I was concerned that I would need to drill the bumper attachments, but found that by applying enough upward pressure, and not fully tightening the 4 mounting bolts, it was possible to get everything attached without drilling. After attaching the mounting bracket, I reinstalled the stock bumper cover, and the real battle began. The two bolts for mounting the skid plate to the stock plate attachment points were a bear to install. I found that by leaving the two bolts that attach the skidplate to the bumper very loose, and also leaving the bumper mounting bolts loose, I was able to get the rear attachment bolts in place. I found that it's a good idea to have a couple spare washers, as the bolt heads for the skidplate and the bolt holes on the skidplate are nearly the same size. Once the rear part of the skidplate was attached, snugging up the front is a bit tight, but doable. After tightening the mounting bolts on the upper bracket to the bumper (and accidentally shearing one) the bumper is now installed an seems solid - no flex, etc. as I had expected. Overall rating is a 4, as the supplied bolts were of low quality, the install would have been easier if parts matched up better, and one of the large washers was missing from the install package."

"This is a very well made product. After researching all available front bumpers for my Kawasake Mule, the Bison appeared to be the best choice. Now that is mounted on my UTV, I know I made the right choice. My only complaint was the minimal installation instructions. Also, two parts would not line up with the mounting holes on my UTV, forcing me to drill new holes on the bumper parts. The factory holes were off about 3/4 inches. I would not let this deter anyone from buying this product. Once mounted, it is a solid, heavy duty part of my machine."
