"The gps is about everything i need. I wanted it to track my trails/routes and log points, and it does this ok. I had to buy a semi hard case for it because it kept shuting off when I had it in my shirt pocket or my pack."

"This GPS unit is great for geocaching. It's my first experience with a GPS and is fairly easy to work. The maps are VERY basic and I wasn't able to find maps to purchase on the east coast. The device can be used with the basic map just fine, though. Good product."

"I bought this GPSr to begin geocaching and it has worked as I expected so far. Now that I am learning more about the sport I wish I would have bought a GPSr with paperless caching technology, but this one still works fine. It has been pretty accurate up to this point. I can definitely see a difference in accuracy when it is a bit cloudy, or I am in tree cover, but so far I have been fairly impressed with this device. I would recommend it to anyone as a beginner device."

"This is a soild GPS that gets the job done. I have used this in heavy forest and had no lost of reception. The older Garmin GPS I own would have lost reception for sure. The only issue I have is they could install better mapping software with the unit. I would say this is a great GPS for someone to start with its easy to use and gets the job done."

"I had an original eTrex for years, and was often frustrated by the slow resolution and iffy reception under the tree canopy. This upgrade has solved both those problems, plus it is in color and has better mapping to boot. You really can't beat it for the price."

"good gps unit for the price works well for tracking as a back-up for the good one on the boat. found out it was discontinued by garmin and i can't seem to find any water maps to enter into it. step up models have a spot for a smart card that you can then purchase maps of water depths etc. i was a little disappointed everything i was looking for to update it was discontinued. but as i said for a lower end gps unit it works great"

"I bought this as an upgrade from the etrex Venture. the USB cable is much easier to deal with. I love the color maps. This is great for geocaching. It stores caches with separate icons as other waypoints. It shows found or not found on it. Very good beginner geocaching item. It is fast to get locations. Locations seem very accurate."

"I have owned three different gps and must say this is the best one ever. At first it was difficult to understand because I was used to the way the others worked. Did not take long to figure my new Garmin out, actually it's quite easy. Love the ways you can make waypoints and organize them on list and give them special icons. Downloaded Map Sourse into gps so now I see the streams, detailed roads and contour lines as I navigate. It is much smaller than my others and fits in shirt pocket very nicely. Most of the time position acquired takes only a few seconds."

"I like this unit so far. very good on batteries, that's a biggie to me. very quick and easy to read and long lanyard is great for around the neck, though a little high priced. Needs a few more goodies as standard equipment as other mfgs do for same price. I wish it had SD slot for that price. I do like the venture alot"

"I bought this as a backup GPS to be used if my other etrex failed. However, it was so fast in picking up sats that I kept it going during the whole hunt. Although it doesn't have the built in compass, it has every feature that the whole etrex line has and the price paid was simply irresistable. These etrex units are simple and durable. Every Northwoods hunter should carry one, "just in case"."
