"THESE SHELLS HIT HARD. I HUNT MOSTLY OUT OF FENCE LINES FOR GEESE WHICH CALLS FOR 40 TO 60 YARD SHOTS, AND THESE SHELLS PERFORM WELL OUT AT THAT DISTANCE. I USE A CHARLES DALY 3.5INCH WITH A IMP/MOD CHOKE AND THAT SEEMS TO HOLD A GOOD PATTERN OUT AT THAT DISTANCE WITH THESE SHELLS. I HAVE NEVER HAD A MISFIRE EITHER WHICH IS ALWAYS A PLUS. I WILL CONTINUE TO USE THESE SHELLS AS LONG AS THEY MAKE THEM."

"i bought 4 boxes of the #3 3inch and this stuff drops ducks like rain. opening day i used these and my partner used some cheaper shells and i limited out an hour befor he did. the down side is when you get done hunting your barrel is really dirty."

"Just got back from opening day these shells were great. I had a double on some specks that were about 80yds out. Both geese were folded. The best combo to use on geese/ducks in Blackcloud 3inch 1 1/4 oz. BB load with a Carlsons extended range series choke tube (full). Very Deadly"

"These shells are extreamly deadly on ducks and geese all the way out to 60 yards. I have shot a full case of these and they are extreamly dirty. I recently went to take the choke tube out of my gun and cant. I have broke two choke wrenches trying to get it out and it is not budging. My hunting partner had to re-tighten his choke after every hunting trip with the black clouds. so if you are going to shoot the black clouds i recomend you get the black cloud choke tube and dont use your regular choke tubes, these shells are hard on guns."

"I purchased a box of Black Cloud in 12 gauge 3 1/2 inch with BBB shot in December 2008. It pattened great at 55 yards in my Winchester Super X model 2 and my son's SBE II. We went on a Swan hunt in eastern North Carolina. This is where we started having problems. After about eight shells the Winchester and SBE II started jamming. After three more shells the Winchester's action would not cycle at all. The SBE II would cycle sometimes but the firing pin would not hit the the primer hard enough to ignite the shell. Both of these guns have been shot less than 50 times. I would not recommend Black Cloud loads in any semi-auto shotgun because they are a dirty load. After one shot in each gun the barrels on both shotguns looked like the inside of a sooted chimmey."

"These shells perform exceptionally well in the field. They provide good knock down power at longer than average ranges than most steel shot. I have successfully taken birds up to 50 yards on a regular basis. This however is partially due to using an extended full choke designed for steel shot. The wad design in this shell is something I have been contemplating in my own mind and it is good to see that someone finally designed a wad in this manner. I would not mind seeing the same type of wad design in all other small game shot shells (7-1/2, etc.) for added distance.
I would recommend that Federal try using more powder and more shot b/c there is room for it. The #2 shells provide 1-1/4oz. of shot, and a 3in. mag. can usually hold 1-3/8oz. of #2 shot. Also pack a little more powder to go along with that shot to maintain high velocity."

"I have an SBE-II. Shooting the 3.5 in shells back to back, jams my gun too much. They do not eject well. Mixing a 3 in shell then a 3.5 in shell, seems to work better, but who wants to do that. They are very dirty shells. I have been shooting federals in my gun for years and the black clouds are the dirtiest shells that i have ever seen. I have to completely take apart my gun after each outing and blow it out. I can say that I have downed more birds, but i also have a lot more cripples. over all a 3. it just didn't live up to the hype..."

"I patterned the shells today with my Browning Silver with light mod choke and the pattern was to open. The Mod was full of holes. 12G, 3 1/2, #2. The 3 inch #3 black cloud shot well, but I am going to stick with my Winchester Supreme HV 3 1/2, #3's. Consistant patterns and chambers great."

"I got a box of these for christmas.They're 3 1/2 BBB's. I must have hit 15 geese with these within 40 yrds and less .And you can see this stuff bounce rite off of them! Im using an IM non wad stopper choke through my 11-87 Super Mag! And I had 3 jam's. Which NEVER EVER happens.So I went to my Federal Premium T's and started nocking geese down again! I mite have bought a bad box.But im not gna buy more to find out! Im truly unhappy with these shells.And would Not recomend them to my worst enemy. Stick with the premiums! They should call these BLACK JUNK instead!"
