"WOW!! My son was only a couple months past 2 when we bought him this fishing pole. Because it has a Fake plastic fish you can tie it on the end we did lots of practicing in the yard. It gave him a great chance to learn what it feels like when a fish gives it a tug. And when it came to the real thing, it worked great till he threw it in the water (forgot about telling him not to do that) IT DOESN'T FLOAT BY THE WAY!! However... we did love it so much that we replaced it with another as soon as we hit land again!"
