It needs to work much better to be worth the money,November 11, 2009
By karenbrat1from Idaho
"After much frustration and wasted bags I received some advice that anything even remotely moist/smeary (meat) MUST first be saran-wrapped BEFORE placing in the food sealer bag. Because 1) juice and fat from the meat will smear onto the bag inside as you are loading it, preventing a good seal, and 2) any moisture is sucked through the sealing area during vacuum, again, preventing a good seal. For very moist things like chickens which have been chilling in ice water, put a good quality (like Brawny) paper towel inside the body cavity and wrap the bird in another paper towel, then in saran wrap, THEN place in the food sealer bag. We have done a whole pig and several dozen chickens in this sealer and so far it is still working, though for the time, prewrapping and bag expense involved I think I would rather use the tried and true saran-and-butcher-paper. I have also found it best to double seal the first end of the bags, i.e. seal it once and then seal it again 1/4" to 1/2" away, because sometimes a single seal will develop a tiny leak during vacuuming."

Garbage,January 21, 2009

"Don't waste any money on this product. The sealing process is hit and miss because the gasket used to make the airtight vacuum is unreliable, so you start the motor and.......no suction. Terrible design."

junk,January 24, 2008

"I originally had a Foodsaver that worked for about one month before dying. I replaced it with this model. The first replacement had a bad gasket, the second had a bad cutter, and the third and fourth replacements had motors that died after just a few tries. I would never recommend the Foodsaver brand to anybody who is serious about preserving food."

Poor Quality,December 10, 2007
By Twistfrom Jackson, WI
"This was my first vacuum sealer purchase. I purchased it for vacuum sealing game that I get and to help seal mason jars. The product just have not performed very well. It normally takes more than one attempt to get it right (jars ,and reopening bags and resealing). I used this on about 5 jars and gave up and have sealed a half dozen times before the sealer stopped sealing the bag. I would not recommend this product, but am at a loss of what will work better."

"After no success at getting parts for the old food saver, I was given this as a replacement. POOR POOR Quality. No cutter other than the bag sticks to the element and rips off. No storage for rolls. Worked once for vacuum and died. Would not reccomend this to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would give it no stars if possible. but i give Cabelas 5 stars, they'll make it right."

Bad gasket on vacuun port,October 7, 2007
By boonedog
"I used the foodsaver vacuun sealer 6-8 times without a problen. After that, the seal around vacuun port would not seal enough to pull the correct amount of vacuun to seal or shut off. I will return it. I will look at the more expenseive one and check it out."
