"Compared to two years ago the minows did keep better flexibility once put into the water and did not get stiff.
But the way Berkly hipes th eproduct, you would think it was a wonder product that could not fail. Wrong.
Just got back from Lake of the Woods (Canada side). The weather and water conditions were a challenge and it was tough to find walleye - they were in transition from the reefs to the weeds.
Real minows did a mutch bette rob. My buddy who used the real minnows caught on average 4 walleye to my one with the GULP minnows.
The good news is the GULP kept the too small fish from stealing the bait like they do with the real minows. And I could re-use the GULP on several fish, where yo are lucky to do so with the real minnows.
ONE BIG PROBLEM - I had left the bait bucket in a shadowed area on the boat...max temps were in mid 70s... but at some time the GULP bucket burst spilling the contents in the boat. It was strong enough blast that it knocked the handle off and blew out a good size chunck of the plastic bucket. What a waste for the high product cost.
Note too...when you open the bucket, do not take the plastic seal off. Cut a large hole in it to get to the bait. That way when you screw on the lid, the liquid will not leak out. Several buds have complained about the GULP buckets leaking once openned (and they had taken the seal off).
Bottome line - - - for the high cost, the GULP does not live up to the Berkely hype. I can even do better with tube gigs."

"I bought a small bucket of mixed minnows yesterday, and went out this morning for some catch and release. My first spot, I pulled in two good-sized walleye in two successive casts. I moved to a few different spots, and ended up at a nice river spot, where I caught 4 huge pike using these minnows! I switched gears with a number of other softbaits, but it was the Gulp minnows that pulled every fish for me today. The pike I took by bringing the bait in a jerky swimming motion up from the depths along a shoal. Only complaint is the smell on the hands and equipment, which is a tad nasty."

"i havent used these minnow jigs in awhile since the last time i had great sucess with them!!! which was somewhere around last years spawning season for largemouth bass but anyways i had gotten mine in a small package of maybe 5-8 of them but i they looked pretty good because of there strong scent and the supprising movement i could do with them in the water to force the bass to srtike. the first time using these baits went supprisingly awsome , me and my buddie caught and released around a good total of 20 2-3ib largemouth now thats what i call bass fishin,lol but as spawning season got further the action only got better by the days. one saturday i went to try a difrrent spot along the san gabriel river and found a couple monster bass at the minimum 5ibs , i through it in their spawing territory along a small tree and bounced it along the side of the bass until they would turn a scoop it off the bottom and take off with it, the first one turned out to be 8ibs3ounces and i got aphoto and relesed it but the next largemouth turned out to be my personal record at 12ibs and i had that monster mounted!!!!!!!!!!i know this was a long review but these gulp minnows are outstanding!!!!one more thing if i were you buy the smelt flavor , thats what i used throught last years spawning season for largemouth"

"I used the Berkley Gulp minnows as a "do nothing" bait, fished it on light line on a spinning rig. Used a circle style hook with no weight, just casting to a spot and let the bait slowly sink. I caught 14 bass ranging from really small to around 4 lbs. as well as a number of sunfish in the "about hand size" size. The Berkley Gulp minnow is a great bait and I've yet to use it in any other manner."

"Caught lots of Big walleyes, Big lake trout, big crappie and Big smallmouth on Alive Smelt in lakes where real minnows - alive or otherwise - are not allowed. Berkley needs to work on the bucket lid seal and I need to wash my rain gear so my wife will allow it in the house."

"I had my doubts about these, but bought a quart of them to try at Oneida Lake in NY for smallmouth bass. My partner used live bait and I used these in the smelt color and outfished the live bait over 3 to 1. The smallies just grabbed these baits and wouldn't let go. Actually made the catching much easier as there was no guessing as to when a fish was on. Great product. Going to try the saltwater baits in Sept."

"Gulp Alive worked nearly as well as live minnows and leeches to catch both walleye and northern pike. The bate seemed to work best on the first few casts as the scent attracted fish. It was important to set the hook quickly as the fish didn't like the taste. One major benefit is that the minnow or leech lasted for several fish, saving both time in rebaiting the jig and money on live bate. It's worth giving Gulp Alive a try."

"I have caught sunnies. crappie, large and smallmouth on these things. Bottom bounce jigging just kills the fish. I have even caught several fish after they missed the first time. These baits really work and they hold up strike after strike!!!"

"Wow, I am so impressed with this product!!!!! I have been using Berkley Gulp since last year with some promising situational success. I purchased the " Alive Minnows " recently and was able to use them for the first time yesturday. Again I say Wowww!!!!! 4 smallies over 5lbs, 1 largemouth over 7lbs, and 4 or 5 big smalies that shook lose at the boat!! I have a big two day tournament coming up this weekend so I sure hope I set those fish up for more " Gulp Alive ""
