Berkley Gulp Rocks,September 1, 2009
By NWFishhunterfrom Bellingham WA
"We don't know what Berkley puts into their Gulp product, but it works incredibly well in the Pacific NW.
We have used these minnows to catch everything from bottom fish to salmon.
Our son is 12 and he loves to catch sharks and bottom fish, Gulp minnows guarantee he is alway catching.
We also like the fact that the product is biodegradable, so that the ones that end up staying in the water break down over time.
Fish on!"

A great synthetic,May 21, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Wamego, KS
"We tried the Gulp Alive minnows in smelt coloring last weekend at our favorite lake. It cannot replace live bait but it definitely worked! I fished it several ways on a jig and a drift setup. Both rigs worked well. I caught a flathead...which if people know flatheads they are very particular about the bait that is placed in fromt of them (ussually live bait is preferred by the species). Every fish I caught had attacked the bait (strong bites) and the were hooked deep. They apparently like the presentation and look of the bait. My wife fished classic baits (worms/cutbait) and lures and caught nothing all day (she refused to use the Gulp because of the smell). I caught multiple channel, bass and walleye and the flathead. The fish appeared to be in a negative pattern and the natural presentation of the smelt worked well. The container is as mentioned in other reviews problematic but the advise of the other anglers insured I was going to make sure the lid was on securly. I would recommend the baits as an addition to the fishing arsenal of baits. Live bait is still one of the great options and this bait is limited to the fact you must keep it moving in the water to present it to fish. Whereas, livebait is great in either a moving or stationary presentation."

Didn't Catch a Thing.,August 27, 2008
By lteddyfrom Roseburg, OR
"I walked all up and down the river trying to get a fish to hit one of these minnows. I decided maybe they just weren't bitting. But the minute I threw a kastmaster out there I hooked into a smally. Big waste of money, they aren't any better than normal cheap softbaits."

Trade Lake Wisconsin,August 5, 2008
By dtm1130from Taylorville, Illinois
"Just returned from fishing trip at Trade Lakes in Wisconsin and was very in impressed with the Gulp Alive Minnow. Was able to catch at LEAST five or more crappie on a single minnow. Was given a partial container by a friend so not sure how the price compares to live minnows."

great bait!!!!!!,July 29, 2008
By ozarksniperfrom North West Arkansas
"I had never used these before. On a whim I purchased a pint to use on a trout fishing float trip on the White River at Cotter, Arkansas. In the high swift water when used with a 1/8 oz. jig head they tore the trout up. Not only were the trout highly agressive but were consistantly larger than the ones others caught."

Gulp Minnows,July 8, 2008
By jim68from Indiana
"If the fish were hitting, the "gulp" minnow with a trailer hook was as good as live minnows without a trailer hook. If fishing was slow the "gulp" didn't perform as well as the live bait. I did not receive follow-up hits with the "gulp" as you normally do with live bait. It appeared once the fish tasted the "gulp" they lost interest. My opinion is the "gulp" is an expensive alterative to live bait but does work if you don't have live bait. I used them in Western Ontario for walleye's, northerns and small month bass this last week of June 2008."

Gulp Alive 4" Shad pint,June 10, 2008
By MichaelColoradofrom From CO. fishing in AR.
"The only reason I give this product only two stars is that the container seal is so poor that it must be redone to keep the "gravy" from leaking once opened. In using this product on Greer's Ferr Lake in AR., I found it to be of the top quality that is associated with Berkley and Cabela's reputation but they definitely need to work on the container seal! No problem catching everything from Crappie to Stripers, including some fantastic Walleye but the container leaked badly. I solved the problem by using Plumber's Goop Seal to form a gasket but this should not be required. Keep trying guys and keep the good innovations coming!"

Great All Around,May 27, 2008
By ILBassMasterfrom Central IL
"My cousin's husband had been using these all season for walleye, smallmouth, and largemouth. He brought them down Memorial Day weekend to our gravel pits and we caught fish all weekend. We caught large bluegills, crappie, largemouth and smallmouth on the gulps. I don't think there was a stretch of more than 15 minutes we went without a bite, which was suprising for pre-spawn bass. All you have to do is rig them up with a jighead of any size appropriate for the body of water you're fishing. All the complaints about not threading the lid right are valid; the containers are not perfect. The bait does smell kind of bad and that stench does get on your fingers but washes out with ease."

Gulp it's that good,May 22, 2008
By walleyebrentfrom Kinzua Reservoir, Pa.
"I have had better success with Gulp than with live minnows. At least 50% better success than with live bait. I have got walleyes live baiting with Gulp (1-rod gulp crawler outfished three rods with live crawlers 2 to 1) that held on without a hookset until after another fish was boated, then picked up that fish."

I outfished my partners with it,April 16, 2008
By rydattfrom Little Falls, MN
"I wanted to conduct an experiment on a recent fishing trip to the Rainy River at ice out so I told myself I would use nothing but the Gulp on the first day. We had 4 guys for 5 days with 4 gallons of rainbows and I used less than 30 minnows I used the gulp most of the time. Holds up extremely well, cast after cast, fish after fish, so no digging in the baitwell all the time. I loved it, only one complaint was with the container, if you weren't careful about threading the lid on the jar correctly it would leak. I had 1 pint of Gulp Alive and most of it was still good yet when I got home and thats with around 100+ walleye/day catches."
