Nikon 2-8x32 Monarch Scope,August 9, 2009
By CDR3from Blaine, WA
"This is the third Nikon Monarch scope that I have owned in the past 15 years. First the good news. The scope is quite compact, relatively light in weight for it's size and is very clear a lower power settings. The exterior finish of the scope is very good and appears to be very durable.
The negatives: my Monarch scope is mounted on a side ejecting Marlin Model 1895 so the overly large turret caps do not interfere with case ejection but would/could on a bolt action rifle. The large caps do look a little strange though on a compact, small scope like the 2-8x32 Monarch.
The major failing of this scope at higher power, is lower contrast optically then on other Monarchs that I have owned. In fact, my older Redfield Illuminator has better contrast control and a higher contrast index than the Nikon Monarch for a hazy Northwest day. However, these hazy conditions are the normal weather conditions during hunting season in the Northwest."

5-20x scope,July 6, 2009

"I dont't have it on a rifle yet. But so far I am very impressed. It seems to be high quality and the scope is crystal clear. I like all the "goodies" it came with to customize the elevation and windage adjustments."

Very good scope for a good price,June 24, 2009
By DonkeyPunchfrom Selah, WA
"The optics are very clear and bright, with a uniform black area around the the edge of the visible image. Eye relief stays constant throughout the different power settings. I have many different brands of scopes including Leupold Vari X II, Burris Fullfield, Bushnell, and Zeiss Conquest. Comparing the 4-16 Monarch to the Zeiss Conquest 4-14.5, there is no comparison (the Zeiss having a much clearer image to the very edge). But since the Zeiss costs about $300 more, you can see what the price pays for. This scope is mounted on a Rock River Arms Pursuit Predator rifle in .223, and with the BDC reticle, it is a good fit with the 42mm objective. Time will tell with use how well this scope holds up to the weather. The side focus is a nice feature also."

SUPER scope!,April 15, 2009
By dullhfrom Horse Shoe, NC
"I have three Buckmasters on three different rifles already, so when I bought my two browning X-Bolts I needed two more scopes. I thought about a couple 3-9x50mm Buckmasters, since I have had good success with them and they are great! Well, I spotted a 2.5-10x50 Monarch at a local retailer and decided to try it. I love it! Clearer than the Buckmasters (not by much but noticeable) with, of course, more eye relief range. A noticeable step up from the Buckmasters for sure - that's the progression - but remember the Buckmaster are in no way slouches. I expect them to be just as durable as the Buckmasters. I bought my second 2.5-10x50 Monarch from Cabelas here and now both X-Bolts (7mm-08 and .300WSM) wear them. I am now officially hooked on Nikon scopes - I will not be switching brands!"

Poor construction,February 23, 2009
By iowacritterkillerfrom Iowa
"Nice glass, but the construction is a joke. Tube area for attaching rings is too short, often need extension rings, especially for long action. Will not hold up like leupold or bushnell."

Great Scope 6-24x50,January 3, 2009
By MikeH2from St. Louis, MO
"I've owned this scope for about six months and find it to be very high quality. The optics are very clear up to the full power, and the elevation and windage adjustments offer a firm click that is much better than the previous Monarch models. The side focus is smooth and accurate, and eye relieve seems to be a very consistent 3.5 to 4 inches. The only drawback, which dropped the rating one star is that eye position is very critical at higher powers (>20). I noticed that I had to find just the right spot when looking through the scope. It also came with a sun shade and flip up covers. Very nice touch."

Nikon Monarch Scopes,December 30, 2008
By Turcisfrom Texas
"This is the second Nikon Monarch that I have purchased (3-12 and 4-16). Both scopes are very clear and have excelent resolution as one would expect from Nikon. Both scopes perform very well and show no hint of problems. They are great value for a reasonable price."

HIgh Power Scope,December 19, 2008
By dog3from Alabama
"I bought the 5 -20X power Nikon Monarch Scope. The claity and light is very good. The only Flaw is above 18X it seems to get a slight Halo, so 18-20X isn't very usable. If I would have known I would have bought the 4.5 to 14X. Also adjustment is a bit to stiff."

Perfect for the $$$,December 3, 2008
By SMP306from Geneva, IL
"I have had the 3x12 scope on my REM 700 30.06 for two years now and love it. Surprisingly bright in low light conditions! Shooting anywhere from 40yds to 250yds w/no problems. The only complaint I have is the zoom ring somehow became a little loose but still functions fine."

Bright scope but questionable reliability,December 3, 2008
By SGManfrom Gautier, MS
"I own a Monarch thats a few years old and decided to write this review after seeing a more recent reviewers comments about his scope losing zero. I've had the same problem with my Monarch 5.5-16x 44mm. The glass is great...super bright view in low light conditions but the scope seems to lose it's zero. It's mounted on a .30-06 and for the first year it maintained accuracy at least through the middle of deer season...I only know this b/c I killed a deer with it. However, by the next year's hunting season the scopes zero was off by 10 to 12 inches. I thought it might be the mounts but the Leupold mounts are solid. By the following hunting season I began using a .300 Short Mag. topped with a VX-III. The Leupold seems to be a much tougher scope than the Nikon...no problems losing zero. It's not quite as bright but the the objective lens is slightly smaller (42mm vs. 44mm). I plan to replace the Nikon scope with another VX-III."

Great Scope,December 2, 2008
By Fbear17from Colorado
"I just purchased the 2.5-10X50 monarch and put it on a .300 win mag. I shoot hand loads and it only took me a few shots to get a 1/2 inch group at 100 yrds. The scope seems to hold it's zero very well even with the recoil of a larger magnum. I will by another Monarch for my next rifle since it seems to perform very closely to some of the higher priced scopes I've purchased."
"Just mounted the scope, took it to the range, and had it on bulls eye in 3 groups. Easier to zero in than my more expensive VX III. So far, so good as are the rest of my Nikon products!"
