Close to perfect,August 20, 2009
By JoeinGeorgia
"Walker's High Definition Game Ear II + AFT is almost perfect. Although it's not designed as an everyday hearing aid, that's what I use it for. It does at least as good a job as hearing aids that cost ten times more—if not better. It is also easy to adjust for sound level. I no longer have to keep saying "Huh?" during a conversation, and I can understand what's being said on TV without turning the sound up so loud that it deafens everyone else in the room. The only reason I didn't give the Game Ear five stars is the frequency tuner. (Plus the fact that there's no way to give it four-and-15/16 stars, which would be my preferred rating.) But back to the frequency tuner. The tuner works fine, but it's not as easy to adjust as I would like. You have to take this tiny screwdriver, which comes in the box, insert it in the back of the Game Ear and turn it right or left, and it's almost impossible to do this without taking the Game Ear off your ear. So you have to take it off, guess at the adjustment, put it back on, check the level, take it off if the level's not right, guess at another adjustment, and so on. Fortunately, you don't have to do this often. I've been wearing my Game Ear almost two months, and I've re-calibrated the frequency just once. In other words, this is really just a minor quibble, aimed at the designer/manufacturer rather than potential users, and shouldn't keep you from buying the product. Overall, I'm more than satisfied with the Game Ear, and expect it to perform even better when I get one of those molded, vented ear plugs to replace the little foam one that came in the box. In fact, I'm so pleased with my Game Ear that I'm seriously considering buying a second one so I'll have stereo reception, which is better for knowing which direction sounds are coming from. Game Ear's a super product. I don't know how it works as a hunter's aid, but I'd recommend it without hesitation to anyone with mild to moderate hearing loss."

Not as good as IV,April 20, 2009
By Chris2fur30from Wisconsin
"I used to have a Game Ear IV and lost it. Before I lost it, however, I didn't like only having one because I couldn't tell what direction game was. So, because they are so expensive, I bought two Game Ear II +AFT. They worked fine and with two of them I could easily tell direction. I'm hard of hearing and thought about wearing them at work.
The product is good. Just expensive. You get what you pay for, though, because I wasted a hundred dollars on other products that didn't stack up against the game ear."

Definitely meets expectations,April 3, 2009
By PalmettoDawgfrom Beaufort, SC
"I was pleased with the performance of the pair of Game Ear II + AFTs that I purchased for turkey season this year. It was well worth the extra $$ to go with two units instead of just one because you are much more able to detect the location / source of the sound with two devices. The quality of the sound input is excellent. I remain interested in how long the batteries will last. I've got about 12 - 15 hours of use so far, and they are still going strong. My only tiny gripe is that I wish there was more control or better adjustments for the ear piece. Even with that in mind, I would still highly recommend the product."

Good product but terrible service,February 22, 2009
By JohnFromCA
"A couple of years ago I purchased a Walker's Game Ear and it served me well for one waterfowl season. However, last fall it failed during the first week of duck season, so I called GSM-Walker Products to find out about having it repaired. They told me to drop it in the mail with a check for $60 and the turn around time should be about 3 weeks. I returned it to GSM-Walker Products with a check for $60 to cover repair costs. I did not hear anything from GSM-Walker Products in 6 weeks so I followed up with a phone call and about a week later my broken Walker's Game Ear was mailed back to me with a note that they were not able to repair it, but they would refund my $60 in the next few weeks. It has been a couple of months and I have yet to see my refund check.
I tried to support GSM-Walker Products by have my Walker's Game Ear serviced rather then buying a new competing product for about the same price as the repair...now I am $60 in the hole and I still have a broken Walker's Game Ear."

"Had the Walker High Definition Game Ear11 for approx 3 weeks. Very satisfied. I do not like the white ear lobe plug though. I was able to obtain a rubber transparent one though another source. If the aid lasts one year I will be a returning buyer.

bionic ear,December 16, 2008
By slayer5from Northern NJ
"I have only used it a couple times but it seems to be a nice tool. It does not work well in high wind situations or near roads. I was about 600 yards from the road and the trucks sounded very loud. Walking when its quiet makes you realize how much noise you make. I would recommend this for stand sitters on low wind days (below 10 mph or so)"

game ear II + AFT,December 15, 2008
By duckhuntertoofrom VA
"excellent product and well worth the money. much more comfortable than ear muffs especially if you wear any clothing over your head... facemask etc. Occassionaly it is hard to pinpoint direction of sounds and will have problems on windy days but overall VERY impressed. Have worn 4 days so far duck, rabbit and deer hunting and have exceeded expectaions on every hunt."

Walkers Game Ear HD II,December 9, 2008
By rwwillhuntfrom Lower Alabama
"Due to years of shooting without proper protection I have lost a lot of my ability to hear. I purchased a Walkers Game Ear several years ago and have used it during hunting season regular. I recently purchased a second one as I had trouble telling direction the sound was coming from. I have been very pleased with the addition of a second Game Ear because it lets me determine sound directions much better."

Walker's Game Ear HD II + AFT,December 8, 2008
By Dusterdog2from Corning, NY
"Found this product to be useful for the purpose it was purchased for. I needed something to protect my hearing, without the bulk of muffs, and still allow me to hear game close by. Hunting big game with a 44 Mag revolver is an experience and a challenge, but if you have ever fired a handgun without ear protection, you know the results. The Game Ear worked as advertised, except for the foam ear plug on the end of the sound tube. It didn't last a week. Walker's supplies a spare, but I didn't bother with it. As another reviewer suggested, I quickly replaced the foam plug with a standard rubber ear piece, which is also much easier to install and hold in place. The game ear itself, worked fine. I only experienced wind noise at the higher volume setting. I had some difficulty with direction of some sounds, but feel it was hampered due to using only one Game Ear. I used a standard ear plug in the other ear. I plan on adding a second Game ear for the other ear before next years hunting season. I think the in-the-ear canal type would be better, but when you compare the price, the Walker's Game Ear HD is a good choice."

'earing' again,July 22, 2008
By rivrratfrom California Delta
"I haven't hunted with the aide yet, but living on a farm gives some perspective. The unit amplifies all sounds a lot. I can hear birds in the corn twittering softly in the evening....haven't heard that before. I can see that sitting in the woods with the unit in place will be a great boon...and fun too. On the negative side, the foam earpiece is problematic, just not quite adequate, but I haven't attempted a cure as others have posted. That's something for the future. Also, the adjustment to higher frequencies causes a white noise in my ear, so I have to back it off, and the sound level needs to be turned down when walking. All I can hear is my feet crunching the ground. Overall, I think it is a good value for the money."

Inexpensive and High Quality,March 31, 2008
By weewilliewinklefrom Arizona
"This hearing aid is sharp and clear particularly at the high frequency levels for which it is especially designed. The battery lasts for at least the 300hrs. claimed by the company. I like it so well that I am ordering another one for my other ear. The soft foam tip that fits in your ear is entirely unsatisfactory. It will not stay in place and is uncomfortable. I immediately replaced it with a conventional soft gel one like you find on any earbuds. These work great."

They Work!,March 25, 2008

"I found the Game Ear to work well when I tested them out on the Skeet range. The gun fire was virtually eliminated while conversation was amplified. Haven't tried in actual hunting but expect they will work. The fit is a bit tricky and I still don't have that all worked out."

walker's gameear,November 6, 2007
By ricarcherfrom Arkansas
"Kind of disappointed. I could't get the roar out of mine so I got another for the defective one and it made the same noise when I adjusted it to get the roar out I could hear better without them in my ear than I could useing the Game ear 2. I am hard of hearing so it could be my condition and not the fault of the product, but overall it was not what I had read and expected out of either pair. Cabelas handled it very nicely and gave a refund for both pair."

300WM Protection,September 25, 2007
By SES350from San Jose, Ca
"I bought one of these and the GE III with the radio so that I would have one in each ear. The reason I bought them was because my 300 WM with a muzzle brake makes my ears ring when shooting at deer without ear protection. I replaced the foam insert with a standard hearing aid insert and it is alot more comfortable but still not perfect. I am debating having the molded plugs made for my ears.
The system works good and takes a little time to get use to. After the first day of using them while hunting I was surprised how I got use to hearing the sound that seemed so close but were so far away. Like Birds and other people shooting at deer. I still can not figure how far away shots are that I hear when wearing them. All in all I will continue to use these because shooting this rifle without ear protection really kills my hearing for about 1 day afterwards."
