The SPOT, hits the SPOT! Get one!,January 27, 2009

"I nearly gave up on these kind of headlamps (lightweight, single strap, LED) because of the materials used (often cheap plastic) and the not so bright LED lights. The SPOT changes all that. It remains lightweight, easily goes on the head, and IS VERY BRIGHT! I was shocked at how bright it was and how far the beam goes. And it's waterproof to IPX4 ratings—batteries may get wet but the bulbs and circuitry remain dry. While the plastic hinge at first seemed a little fragile it works great and am sure it will do fine for walking in the woods and keep hands free. Operation of the light is simple. There are 8 light setting all controlled by a one button—at first a little skeptical but once you get the hang of it, you can rapidly click to the setting you want. BONUS! They designed the light to attach to standard 1" webbing on any backpack. Just slip off the head strap and attach to pack. I would recommend carrying the headlamp in a cloth sack—you will not want to scratch the plastic/lens on the headlamp. I've scratched the lens on several lamps and it reduces the brightness/reach of the light (think of dirty headlights on your car). YES, it's a little pricey but with a little care this light will be the last you buy. I give it a 5—would be nice to have a RED light, but since it doesn't have it I won't criticize it."

"As far as LED light this is the best one I've used so far. For some reason I can't see well with LED lights. The light fit well on my head and didn't come loose. My only complaint is that it seems the hinge that positions the light to go straight or point down seems to be kind of loose and may possibly tear up in the future with more use. Other than that it is a great product!"

"This item is a great combination of a lightweight, battery freindly headlamp that can reach out and illuminate items at a distance (every bit as far as the manufacturer's claims). It gave me long battery life when used on the shortrange LED mode and I found the multiple power settings very useful. It weighs a lot less and takes up less space in my hunting coat or day-pack, yet it provides as much light as some of my bulkier/heavier units using larger batteries. I would highly recommend this item to anyone looking for an extended range, compact, and lightweight headlamp."

"Just back from a 2 wk hunting trip to Wyoming, used this light to find my way back to camp when the hunting led me to stay out past dark and then some. Enough light to hike through sagebrush, which requires a lot of maneuvering. Should easily be enough light to quarter game. The ultralight weight of this unit makes it easy to always include in your pack: no headlight will help you if you leave it in camp. There are brighter lights, but they all are much heavier. Glad I got this one."
