RWS 460 Combo,July 16, 2009
By av8r747
"Having owned a couple other Air Rifles, and not been very happy with them I gave the RWS 460 Combo one last try. It has been a great weapon. I got it bore sighted at the Cabala's store and upon shooting it at home for the first time it shot great group at 10 yards. Just a little adjustment was required to shoot a nice 1 inch group at 30 yards. It seems to shoot better over time. Last week I drilled a big wood chuck from 45 yards ( I measured it off) and he went down with one shot to the lungs. That's impressive for an air rifle. I think that says it all. One word of advice. Don't get too caught up in the fps numbers. Anything in the 900 to 1200 fps range is gonna do the job. The pellet you choose is actually of critical importance. I shot several and some a just too light and are junk. The RWS 14.5 Super Point extras are very stable and accurate, with good know down power. The Predator Polymag did the job on that ground hog. Those things are just unreal in punch. They actually make a totally different sound on impact, a nice ugly "thwack" sound. They are expensive though.
I'd recommend this gun for the serious shooter."

PERFORMANCE,May 31, 2009
By SQUIRREL25from Effingham, IL
"I purchased the 460 on May 27,2009 and the Hazelwood store about 120 miles from my home. Upon returning home and setting up the rifle I quickly learned that the wrench to mount the scope was the incorrect size and had to locate the correct size in my too set. The first scope ring screw that I tried to loosen stripped the head but I did get the scope mounted and started to sight in the rifles. The first shot was 20 inches low at 25 yrds and upon adjusting the scope found the adjustment maxed out at the upper position was still 3 inches low at 25 yrds. upon further shooting found the the rifles averaged 2.5 inches groups with 3 different pellets. I will be returning the rifle for a full refund at my earliest convenience."

RWS 460,January 27, 2009
By GAkidfrom Duluth, Georgia
"I purchased the RWS 460 in .177 cal. Very nice wood and finish. When sighting in I found the Beeman Silver Arrow was the most accurate in this gun. This gun launches a pellet supersonic (in excess of 1,100 fps) and is rather loud. My dislikes are: 1. It is difficult to insert pellets into the small loading chamber. 2. Very often when cocking the release button sticks making it impossible to return the cocking lever to the firing position. You have to pull the lever back while pulling the trigger so it will release and try to cock again! Very annoying."

Less then Perfect!,January 16, 2009
By Hank221from Indiana
"I tried 2 different guns and broke cocking lever on both. Before they broke I was having lots of trouble holding groups beyond 30 yards. They sure look nice and feel good in your hands but they were not near the quality I expected. The best part of the whole experience was dealing with Cabelas. After cheerfully replacing the first broken gun they still accepted the second and issued me a full refund. I really enjoyed dealing with this company, they can't be blamed for the problems with the guns."

This rifle is fantastic,December 26, 2008
By BamBamHDfrom Salem, WI
"I write this review to be posted to save someone buying an adult air rifle sometime and aggravation. What I was looking for was something to practice with over the winter but it has to be able to maintain a tight group so any errors would be me not the rifle.
Remington Genesis 1000 Review I first purchased a Remington Genesis 1000 from Cabelas in Richfield WI. Why? I liked the feel/fit of the stock, the scope and did not see many bad reviews for it and it was in my budget. To bad I did not get a chance to fire it before driving 60 miles home. Upon arriving at home I mounted the scope put it on the bench and the first few rounds where on paper only 2" out of the 'X' ring. It was a false sense of accuracy as it took quite awhile to get the rounds in the 'X'. After getting the scope tweaked I thought I was ready to do some tack driving - NOT! I would have 3-4 rounds in then the next 3-4 would be low by 4.5" then I adjusted the scope then it was 4.5" high then it would shift again. Tired of this thinking it was the scope I switched to iron sights no more than 3 would group before rounds would move. Tried to tighten up the pivot bolt and some other items I found on forums but nothing helped. It was really a disappointment when just plinking cans or on the steel drop downs one would hit then the next would be anyones guess. I can say Cabelas was very pleasant in accepting the return of the air rifle accompanied buy my 10 meter targets with the inconsistant groups.
RWS 460 Magnum Review After returning the Remington Genesis 1000 for not holding a group I looked over other air rifles Cabelas carries and read more reviews and for the bit more in price I found a much more superior rifle. Once having the scope mounted the first 5 shots where in a group the size of a dime at 10 meters but the group was 4.5" low and 1.75" to the left once adjusted I have been able to maintain groups in the 10 and 'X' rings of a 10M target. Most targets are showing what appears to be an irregular hole as all rounds are grouped so tightly.
I would recommend the RWS 460 Magnum rifle to anyone not wanting to spend $1000 for an accurate air rifle. Don't waste your time bargain shopping you truely get what you pay for, it's a bit more than the Remington's or Gamo's but well worth it if you are looking for tight repetative and consistant groups."

Very disappointing!,October 3, 2008
By Rodneycfrom North Carolina
"The 1st one I had recieved, out of the box I noticed the stock had been damaged, on the grip behind the trigger. I took it straight to my chrony, 820 fps, 618 fps, on the 3rd shot, 743 fps, the cocking lever flew open, and the action flew back. Within 30 minutes of recieving it, it was back in the box to be returned. After recieving the 2nd one, the stock was damaged in the same manner and location as the 1st. The enclosed scope rings appear to be the culprit. At the chrony, 1020 fps max, even after 500+ rounds, not a shot above 1020 fps. With each shot, I get a "back-blow" of air enough to make you flinch, however, I can manually push the action forward until it somewhat clicks, and this is reduced. It appears as if the barrel seal in the action is missing. Rather than tinker with the guns problems and void the warranty, it is on it's way back for return/refund. I work for a German company, and know 1st hand how finicky they are about quality, and after enjoying this experience, it makes me wonder if these air rifles are really made in Germany. I could understand 1 defective rifle, but 2 in a row, simply not for me."

"I am very pleased with this RWS air rifle. It replaces the RWS# 54 I had returned to Cabela's since it was defective. This is my first spring type air rifle & although I don't use it for hunting, I take it the the range & enjoy target shooting. Very accurate even when using without scope!"

Hunting or Target?,March 10, 2008

"It really dont matter this gun will do it all. Can you hit game at 50yrds (yes) 80yrds yes, with scope. I did buy a diff mount Beeman 5039 makes it easyer to sight in scope. This is a gun that you use for a life time and then pass it down. Five shots at 25yrds size of a dime."

Great Gun,August 8, 2007
By Anonymous
"I returned another air rifle after 1 day because it was disapointing to have all that speed and no acuracy. With the Gamo gun it was very hard to stay within a 5 inch patern at 20 yards this RWS 460 has all the speed you need and can stay inside a dime at 30 yards for the small varmet I shoot ie prarie dogs and pigions 5 inches just wont do. The fixed barel must be the differance. I just can't miss with this gun. Cabellas mounted the scope and bore sighted it for me at no charge when i got it home a few clicks and the gun was right on. The stock is a master piece something you would find on a fine highpowered rifle and the scope is more than I expected " GREAT GUN" I payed a little more but it was worth every penny"

Extremely Dissapointed,July 18, 2007
By Hawk411from Maryland
"I've owned and shot many air rifles in my time and was finally priveledged enough to own a top of the line RWS... or so I thought. The only good thing I can say about this piece is the stock is gorgeous. Everything else was poor. The scope wouldn't stay mounted, two pellets jammed within the first 10 shots, and the under barrel cocking proved to be a disaster. Even when fully cocked it wouldn't trigger the auto safety which must happen in order for teh gun to fire when the safety is taken off. The layout of the rifle is a bit unorthodox. I expected much better from such a fine company. I'm returning this rifle this weekend and I've already ordered an RWS 54 Magnum to replace. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one."

Outstanding Product,July 16, 2007
By kentkfrom MN
""Old Saying", You get what you pay for!! This is an outstanding air rifle. I also own a .177 from another company that is a very good gun. The 22 cal 460 with scope is just better! 1. It shoots a tighter pattern. 2. The recoil is less and I have much less of a problem with spraying an occaisional shot. 3. The 1050 speed with .22 pellet has alot more killing power. 4. From the shooters position the is considerably less noise. 5. The quality of workmanship is outstanding."

RWS Model 460 Combo - VG,July 11, 2007
By JPairgunnerfrom Southeastern PA
"Just recieved my new RWS model 460 July 2007. What an awesome, very powerful air-rifle. This thing will shoot 1/2" groups at 40 yards. Incredible! Once sighted in my 9 year old son can hit sporting clays every time at 35 yards. I have other high power precision air rifles (Beeman) and this rife out-shoots it right out of the box! Thats compared to a $850 Beeman RX (with scope). When you purchase your RWS 460 get heavier pellets as they work the best. This is true with all super-magnum air-guns. RWS Superpoints work pretty good (3/4" groups at 30 yards). The best pellets are the JSB Predator and the Crossman Premier pellets. Order this thing and have some fun."
