Hiking Review,
September 1, 2009
By Sanselu

"For me this is a new purchase. I've tried various brands over the years and most have their own pros and cons. Since they are new I can't speak about durability. That would be a topic for next year.
Pros: Nice color and design for day hikes. Lightweight, water proof, breathes well, and has excellent traction on all terrains.
Cons: Width size borders on being too small making it a tight fitting shoe even with light cotton socks. Laces have a tendency to loosen. This is likely caused by the shoe's short tongue."

Grand Mesa,

"I have some foot trouble particularly a weak arch in my right foot. These hikers are the best among other walking shoes I own for covering distance without the foot acting up. The comfort factor is high and they are pretty breathable despite being water proof.
They are a bit of a pain to lace but that is a small price for the comfort."

Cabela's Grand Mesa™ Low Hiker,
May 5, 2009
By shw3

"Well made shoes that are very comfortable with the added bonus of being water proof. I have had the opportunity to wear them constantly for several days and the have been comfortable and my feet have been dry. Under normal circumstances, I do not wear shoes constantly for several days as my feet sweat a lot and the shoes usually need to dry out for a day or two before wearing again. Not so with these shoes. as they breath and keep my feet dry."

Product has changed,
May 4, 2009
By GPinMA

|
"The current (2009) version is not a wide shoe as advertised. I have previously purchased 4 pair of the grand mesa low cut shoes over the last several years because they did came in a wide (EE) size and were water-proof. This spring I tried 3 pair and none of them were really "wide" cramping my feet in the toe box area. This is too bad as I really liked this shoe and have had to switch to another style."

"I NORMALLY WEAR A 13EE IN CASUAL SHOES. AFTER READING REVIEWS OF GRAND MESA LOW HIKES, I ORDERED ONE SIZE LARGER (14EE). THEY WERE STILL TOO NARROW AND CRAMPED MY TOES. ALSO, LACES WOULD NOT STAY TIED EXCEPT IN DOUBLE KNOT."

only problem: sizing,
January 27, 2009
By Anonymous
from Eugene, OR
|
"I must say that I love the shoe, but the size was a little off. I ordered two pairs at the same time--the rimrock mid length show was perfect, but the Low-Hiker was actually shorter in length and though I wanted a EE width, they feel much narrower than the other pair!
I'll not send them back, since I wore them a day before I really figured out what was going on, and I can give them to my son whose foot size is a little smaller, but if I were to order them again, I would order the size 11, also in the EE width...Is Cabelas sure that tLow Hiker is really a wide shoe and not just being labeled as such?
Love you people and I will always order from you first--no doubts, so please take this as a hopefully helpful comment for other wearers! I am planning on ordering another pair of the same shoe in the near future!
Craig"

Too tight,
January 20, 2009
By silvrmn
|
"I can't really tell you whether these were terrific hikers or not because - even though I bought an extra-wide width - they were still too tight across my toes, and I couldn't stand to wear them. If I were you, I wouldn't trust the width the shoes claim to be."
