Cross rocky divides in search of trophy Dall sheep
Watch Buck face angry grizzlies on a steep bank
75 minutes of on-the-edge-of-your-seat entertainment
A 700-mile trip is substantial in many people's minds. But take away the car, throw in a backpack, rifle, raft, fishing
gear and a remote drop-site in the middle of Alaska and you've got one heck of an adventure. This
video captures Bruce "Buck" Nelson as he takes five long weeks on a solo hiking trek, hunting expedition and wild
water ride through Alaska's formidable tundra and a richly stocked salmon stream. This rugged outdoorsman has
staked his claim to fame
by going beyond mere mortal boundries on his extremely remote adventures. Among some of his notable
lifetime accomplishments, he cites smoke jumping since 1981, spending seven years in the National
Guard, completing a coast-to-coast bicycle tour across the Southern US in 1993,
reaching the summit of Mt. McKinley in 1991 and hunting various big-game species in the Alaska wilderness. On
this trip, Buck crosses the divide in search of trophy Dall sheep, and you also will see breathtaking rafting scenes of a
herd of
magnificent bull caribou, including several record book candidates. Then, Buck will drift over calm pools full of salmon
that send him scrambling for his fly rod. Next, watch him land exotic Arctic grayling and hungry pike and stalk
a giant, powerful Alaskan bull moose. You'll even take it down river with Buck as he moves a raft full of meat and
antlers. Hold your breath as he faces angry grizzlies that loom so close to a steep bank, you'll hear their jaws
pop. 75 minutes.

A Normal Man's Adventure!,November 26, 2009
By RiflemanRichfrom West Tennessee, USA
"I thought that this was a great video. Buck hunted from the time the aircraft landed until he took off again; something like 6 weeks. The thing that struck me the most was the fact that he didn't do a thing that I couldn't do, and I found that very compelling. I am almost 54, and I could do that. A step slower perhaps, but I could do it. The folks who have reviewed this video and feel like there is not enough hunting have missed the point. This video is all hunting, and very little killing. Hunting is a process and the end result is a successful kill. The kill is a very small part of the hunt, and the really fun part is being out there for the hunt. Buck did it right and I can't wait to see the "1000 Miles Alone" video!"

Really enjoyed Video,February 19, 2010
By Huntzmanfrom Muskegon, MI
"For 6 weeks+, the viewer is taken along with the author on his hunt. This is no scripted video which is so common with commercial videos. Not much self braggin commentary going on, the wildlife is real, the commentary is real as it happens. This was refreshing true hunting video. I really enjoyed watching. Buck captured the essence of the magnitude of his journey with highlights. Adding the map sequences so I could follow the route was a real plus. Enjoyed seeing all the secondary wildlife and floura as well. Sat and watched the complete video when I received. What is amazing is that he did this all by himself. The long treks from base camp for Sheep is amazing. Pay attention to pack, and raft with gear, and this is an accomplishment to complete. Combine this with all the opportunity for Moose, Caribou, and all the bears he encounters really make for a great video for all hunters. I was pleased with this purchase."

scenery not done justice,December 13, 2009
By WYOhorseloverfrom CODY, WY
"Ok in honesty, I have not watched the whole video, but did scan through it prior to sending to husband serving in the US Army overseas as part of his Christmas box. I have to agree with other reviews that this video was low quality. It's a shame that the video is such poor quality, but am sure hubby & the other troops will still all enjoy it as it is a "hunting video" which they all enjoy. Scenery was beautiful but the video did it no justice."

More than just a hunting video,December 11, 2009
By DarinCfrom Yuba City, Ca
"A man showing his passion for beautiful and wild places is what this video is all about for me. We all love the outdoors but few of us have what it takes to thrive day after day, week after week. Buck does this and more, and captured it all on video to share with others. This is a great hunting video, and is so much more than that. I can't get enough."

Truly Excellent Video,December 3, 2009
By RossNorthernVAfrom Northern Virginia
"While many people may not like this video because it is not polished and finished like many higher cost productions, my wife and I have watched this video a number of times and we thoroughly enjoy it every time we watch it. Having hunted in Alaska on two different trips, Buck's video is like seeing Alaska as it really is when you are out in the bush alone. Buck is in our opinion a legend as we can't imagine doing a trip like this single-handed.
If someone just wants to see kill shots they'll be disappointed with this video, but if someone wants to see Alaska as it truly is in the bush on a do-it-yourself expedition they'll likely enjoy it. A+++"

700 miles in review,November 26, 2008
By OHIOBUCKfrom Doylestown, Ohio
"Some say that this is amateur and slow at times, but that is the beauty of this expedition. This is REAL life hunting not a big bang production film that shows every monster after they have caged it in and fed it chickory steroids. This is the type of film that should get evrybody out of the house and attempting to take that once in a life time trip. It did for me."

Alaska Hunting DVD,September 5, 2008
By Jaybeafrom Victoria, Australia, DownUnder
"Quiet amateur film making, but has some good footage. Unfortunately a lot of the wildlife photography is taken with the camera looking down a spotting scope. Quite poor quality images. Has some interest, but certainly won't win an Academy Award. If you can buy it on special, it is worth a look, but I wouldn't pay full price."

Alaska Hunting Adventure,May 10, 2007
By MarathonFlyFisherfrom Buffalo, WY
"This movie is one of the best ever done on hunting and wilderness travel. Buck takes the viewer along like a best friend. He shows the map he uses to plan his trip, and points out his planned route AND why he went that way. The viewer sees Buck spot, stalk and pass up shots. Traits rare in today's "hurry up and kill something" hunting videos. Buck takes the viewer along to discover old mining cabins, troublesome Grizzlies (and how to avoid confrontation), and a wilderness we all long for. Buck's delight at seeing other non-game wildlife, like a rare Wolverine, permeate this entire hunting thrill ride."
