Not for broad shoulders, January 20, 2010
By TangieKane from Idaho Falls, Idaho

"This is a nice pack but not for someone with broad shoulders. Despite the many adjustments for the shoulder straps, I could not get the straps to lay flat on my shoulders. Most of the weight was on the outside edges of each strap and very uncomfortable. Also it was too small for my needs of a pack for day hunting for elk. I could fit all of my gear but didn't have room for food or water. It is equipped with a small (32oz) bladder pouch, but that's not enough for a day in the mountains of Idaho."

Badlands Monster Fanny Pack, November 24, 2009
    By IdahoMW from Idaho

"I have used my Monster pack for over three years, and have found it to be a great product. The pockets are well designed and well placed, allowing for a great spot and stalk type daypack. It is quiet, allows for quite a bit of gear, and disperses weight well, especially when the shoulder-straps are engaged. Extra straps on underside of pack will tote even more gear, and a stowable hydration bladder pouch add versatility. I have had a problem with the zipper tabs breaking. The tabs are poor quality, but with some micro-cord, they can become usable again. Quite the stout little pack for day-trip style outings though."

    GOOD PACK, August 28, 2009
    By JAILCOP from NORTHERN,CA

"THIS IS A GOOD PACK. IT HAS TWO POUCHES ON EACH SIDE OF THE BELT FOR A KNIFE OR MULTI TOOL, I DONT THINK I'LL USE UNLESS I PUT SOME KIND OF FASTENER SO I WONT LOSE IT. IM TALL WITH A LONG TORSO AND I COULD USE A LITTLE MORE ADJUSTMENT ON THE SHOULDER STRAPS. THE HYDRATION SYSTEM IS NEAT BUT SMALL. ONLY 35oz CAPABILITIES(BOUGHT SEPARATE). I ALSO HAVE THE CABELAS 2 IN 1 HYBRID HUNTING PACK. I THINK FOR ME, THATS A BETTER PACK. IT FITS ME BETTER AND YOU HAVE A FANNY AND DAYPACK WITH THE CAPABILITIES TO CARRY 100oz's OF WATER. SAVE THE MONEY AND BUY THE CABELAS HYBRID PACK."

Badlands Fanny Pack, May 3, 2009
    By Electromag from AZ

"Id rather have a fanny pack over a bulky back pack, the monster pack fills the bill with lots of cargo area. My radio clips on the shoulder strap near my ear so I dont need to use a vox. On the left my kinfe mounts through one of the horizontal belts that make up the inners of the pack and on the right side I have mounted a holster for my small pistol.
For me the pack is easily customized, this is a huge plus.
I like the straps on the bottom for packing a heavy jacket. The side pockets get alot of shotgun shell use when bird or rabbit hunting.

The hydration bladder that I orderd from badlands specifically for this pack is too small, esp for Airzona. When carrying my rifle with the rifle's sling over my shoulder, the bulky pack always works my rifle sling off my shoulder or the pack hangs up on my scope. Kind of a hassel on long hikes. The pack is great for carrying quail or rabbits. For big game, it is deficient in carrying capicity for large volumes of meat.

I would reccomend this pack to any one that perfers a fanny pack over a back pack. I like it, with the warrenty I give it 5 stars..

"After using my " Badlands " fanny pack I have nothing but good things to say about it. I've got one in snow camo and another in Advantage. It holds everything I need and is very comfortable to wear. Also, the Badlands warranty on it's product is second to none. If my fanny pack is defective they will replace it; if i wreck it in anyway they will repair it for free. THAT'S FOR LIFE."

Monster Fanny Pack, January 5, 2009
    By PanhandleOkie from Hooker, OK

"This pack delivers the room that is discribed and carries a load exceptionally well. I would recommend for short day packs into the mountains as it rides well and evenly distributes the load evenly on the shoulders and over the hips."

badlands monster pack, December 23, 2008
By michaelinohio from I live in Springfield Oh, and hunt in southern Oh,

"I recently purchased this fanny pack w/ shoulder straps because I needed a pack that I could carry low and still put my treestand on my back. I was in rugged country and the pack served me well. I'm very hard on my equipment, and this pack really came through for me. It's very well constructed, and settled on my hips and carried a lot of weight equally distributing the load. It has a lot of compartments. I think they should have added a water bottle carrier. I had to use one compartment for water. It's very well designed, I would recommend it. I was in a lot of rain and it didn't leak."

Not too happy, December 16, 2008
By Meatle from Myrtle Beach, SC

"Bought a Badlands Fanny Pack because the website says "this is the best fanny pack in the world." Not so. On day number 3 of a 5 day elk hunt in Montana, oversized zipper broke rendering side pocket no use. Day 4, stitching from shoulder harness to pack broke. Not too fun. Not impressed with this product, it did not stand up to the trip. Found to be very bulky when packing for a flight. Will definitely return for another product."

Monster: Good pak, but I'm not sold, November 10, 2008
    By garthasuarus from Phoenix, AZ

"After lugging my hunting/survival gear around in a day-pack for the last few hunts and killing my shoulders, an acquaintance suggested a fanny pack style pack with suspenders. It takes the weight off your shoulders and puts it on your hips, and reduces drag as you stoop over to work your way through brush.

First the good: first rate materials, heavy duty zippers, lots of pockets, tie-downs. This is a very solid pack, and after rearranging how I stowed my gear a couple of times, I was very happy with the storage options.

The downside is that the pack is just too small! Even though my previous daypacks were not large, I still had room for all my gear, a couple of liters of of water, my lunch, and room to store a jacket as the day got warmer.

With the Monster day-pack, I had room for my gear and that was it. The optional hydration bladder only holds 36ox--you know that's not enough, so I had to supplement the pack with a second camelbak, my jacket ended up around my waist and I never did figure out how to carry a lunch.

    Bottom line: It's a good, well-built, versatile fanny-pack. But it's not a "monster" pack.

Oh yeah, I got my elk.

Badlands Monster Fanny Pack, October 5, 2008
    By Vinn from Martinsburg, PA.

"Well built, can be a bit cumbersome. I turned the backstraps around so fanny pack is in front of me,because it is uncomfortable worn behind you while carrying a climber. If you don't like carrying a backpack this is the fannypack to buy. Good luck finding a water bladder to fit this.
Even went to bike shops without any luck. 32 oz.bladder won't fit. Will carry a 32oz. bottle of Gatorade.

    Comfortable, September 30, 2008
    By Skoot from Dufur, OR

"This pack is awesome. Very comfortable and easily accesible pockets. One complaint though, The zipper handles are cheap!! I broke two of mine, one the first day I wore it and my buddy broke one of his the first time he wore his. My quick solution in the field was nylon cord for a handle. If it were'nt for the awesome warranty, I would be a little disappointed with the product."

"Good constuction. Doesn't work as well without shoulder harness. Pouches are ok but not exactly perfect for everything. No place to carry GPS or two-way radio as other packs have. Doesn't realy hang above treestand very well.Guaranteed not waterproof! The internal frame holds the pack together nicely. As good as any other pack but storage placement lacking."
