Badlands 4500 Mountain Goat Hauler,September 19, 2009
By Kerfrom Sparta, MI
"My new Badlands 4500 pack performed very well packing out a mountain goat and all of our camping gear and food on a recent Colorado high elevation hunt. Very functional and comfortable with extremely heavy loads. Roomy pockets and very stable. Everything that I expected after doing much research on other packs. The only thing that is keeping me from the 5 star rating is the functionality of the zippers. They take extra effort to close properly. Otherwise, excellent gear and definitely would recommend to others."

DON'T BUY THIS BRAND!!!!!!!!!,June 24, 2009
By Ormanfrom Brentwood, Ca
"Don't purchase this pack if you are a serious backpacker or hunter. The pack design etc is great, but the zippers are substandard and fail. In trying to deal with the company and their lifetime guarantee, I found I had to send it to UTAH at my cost, $20 each way, and they could not telll me when I was getting it back!!! So much for a guarantee!!!! I am not sure the person I had to deal with knew what a backpack was!!! I returned the entire pack to Cabelas in Reno when I was passing through on my way to Colorado on a camping/fishing trip with no hassles. I think Cabelas should quit selling this item based on the cost, substandard zipper quality and poor customer service of the manaufacturer!!!"

gotta love it,February 17, 2009
By IkillMoreThanUfrom Hawaii
"when you go hard in deep backcountry and you have 7 days worth of gear and your hiking in a hard 7 miles but it really feels like 15 because you go from sea level to 4000 pluss feet in a matter of a mile, deep switch backs valley in and valley out, your pack becomes your best friend... The 4500 is rugged, quiet, is super comfortable with packing in 45 lbs of gear and bringing out 100lbs worth of meat... If you do some hard backcountry hunting and your looking for something reliable hits is the bag"

Amazing Pack,November 18, 2008
By firstramona
"Materials are excellent for hunting and extensive use. Carries well. I had to get a medium belt from badlands because of my small waist (33) to go with the Large size pack. Lots of storage options. This works great for taking all your gear to the field, and then working out from there with the small waist pack that is detached from the top of the pack. This pack is everything I hoped it would be."

Not quite what I expected,October 28, 2008
By ElkHunter2713from North West Wisconsin
"I bought this pack early this fall but returned it before using it on any hunting trips. The pack had lots of nice pockets including the stowable mesh expansion pocket which looked like it would be nice. Consturction seemed pretty solid too. The big problem I had was that the spotting scope pocket was too small for my scope (80mm Swarovski) With any scope even a bit smaller it would work great. My tripod also would not fit in the other large pocket but I use a pretty good sized tripod so that did not supprise me."

Badlands 4500,October 26, 2008
By grizzboyfrom reno,nv
"This is the best hunting pack on the market. I put all my hunting gear from last years pack into it and had plenty of room for more gear, meat etc. More importantly it felt alot lighter due to a much better suspension system. This is the second badlands pack i have owned and im sure i'll never need to buy another. The craftmanship is great with the best warranty i have seen. they will fix it for free nomatter what. The only downside is they are expensive, but like everything you get what you pay for.. If you need a daypack this is the wrong pack for you but if you do extended backcountry hunts its top dog.."

great pack!,October 10, 2008
By smashi
"I purchased this pack expecting the best, and I wasn't disappointed at all. If adjusted properly, this pack does exactly what they say, takes nearly all the weight off your shoulders and puts it to your hips, so your lower body is doing all the work. I highly reccomend this pack to anyone who wants the best backcoutry hunting pack around today, if not, theres always Eberlestock ;-)"

False Advertising,September 22, 2008
By evan907from Alaska
"This pack is advertised in the 6lb range. It is in fact OVER 9lbs. So if you are looking for a light internal frame this is not it. Also, I broke 2 of the side buckles on the second day of using the pack to carry out a smaller deer. When the pack is full the bow carrier doesn't work due to the bottom pocket being stuffed. According to the badlands website they have an unconditional lifetime guarantee so I will try and send it in. The pack does fit a lot of gear or meat, and is quite comfortable. Just be vary wary of the weight factor."

Badlands 4500,January 9, 2008
By Samuraifrom Tucson, AZ
"I previously purchased another brand of backpack and liked it, but it wasn't a truly great pack. I already own a Badlands 2200 and decided to try out the 4500 as my primary backpack.
With the killer warranty behind the product, I knew I couldn't go wrong. Before purchasing the pack, I called Badlands to decide the right size (I'm built like a rail). They told me to order the Large. When the pack arrived, the hip belt was too large. I called Badlands and they shipped a smaller belt out free-of-charge. The change of the belt was quite easy.
After properly adjusting the shoulder straps and waist belt, the pack is the most comfortable pack I've owned. And I've owned a lot of premium packs.
The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, is that Badlands should include a DVD or something similar to fully describe the features and benefits, as well as the proper adjustment steps for the pack. Luckily, I have some experience in this arena, but for a 1st-time customer, this would be invaluable in ensuring a well-fitted pack."

Badlands - Good and Bad,January 7, 2008
By n828bcfrom SW Mississippi
"The extras on the backpack make its potential very good as a long hauler and "carry all you need" pack, but apparently its fit is not for all. I am very average to slender, 5'10", 152 lbs. and I could not for the life of me get the fit of the waist belt to stop KILLING my hip bone and pinching the nerve to the front of my thigh. I know a good bit about fitting these packs and have made two Alaskan hunts, packing out kill both times. I had NO problem with the fit of the Cabelas Extreme Alaskan Outfitters Pack, though I think that the overall construction of the Badlands greatly exceeds the Cabelas pack. Even so, I have elected to take the Cabelas pack to the Yukon for Stone Sheep next Septmeber."

Comfort and Function,June 11, 2007
By Crazed4Firefrom Lincoln, CA
"Very comfortable when loaded down with gear. Weight distribution within the pack is easy to work out when loading it down with a weeks worth of gear. Construction, what can I say but, Bombproof. I can't see going another trip without now that I have it. Tim L."
