think I got a bad one, August 24, 2009

"well I hate writing bad reviews but this product gave me a headach after about 10min. I thread the serving through the jig holes just like the diagram said and the thing would just not work, no matter how I turned the wing nut the jig was eaither too tight (wouldent spin) or too lose (wouldent butt up against the string). im about to return in if anyone has any ideas why this is doing this I would to here."

"A very good kit...comes complete with an instructional dvd, string wax, spreader and serving tool but the only drawback is that the serving string that comes with the kit is not that great and will break on you. You may want to purchase the upgraded serving material but it is a very good kit to use."

"The DVD will teach you to serve and do the correct work on your string, some parts are in plastic, like the cable separator and the serving jig, I found mine to be very difficult to maintain the proper tension of the serving line on the string, in one moment is very tight and other loose, the nylon watchers did not work at it best. I don't know if Bohning made it in metal. But the worst part of the kit is the serving jig. Serving material is very good,(hold very tight)"

"best value starter set you can buy, this style of serving jig is not the smoothest, buy a double drag model as well & you will be serving effortlessly and getting much better serving than you will find on any factory bowstring!"

"I needed a way to increase the serving on my recurve hunting bow- the arrows kept fallling off. I didn't know how to serve. This kit had every thing I needed to to do the job. I especially liked the dvd- it was very informative far better than trying to visualize tying off the serving by reading about it. now I now can install my peep sights and make other repairs to my bow strings- compound and traditional."

"CD is way outdated, slow and totally unprofessional. Kit works really pretty good. I am glad I purchased it. Serving material is a little on the thick side. It should be stated on the description what the size of the serving material is."

"As any archer knows, bowstrings are expensive, I shoot often and my strings wear out at the nock point, destroying the serving there. I never tried re-serving a bowstring before but thought I would give the Bohning Serve Kit a try as it includes everything required in one package, including detailed instructions on a DVD! The instruction video was easy to understand and follow and the serving came out perfect. This is a saving, even on the first string, and, of course, can be repeated many times with no more expensive strings or parts to buy. This was an excellent kit because it is comprensive and simple and COMPLETE!"

"Used it on a Horton crossbow. Guard to separate cables was tight but worked well once I got it placed. Very easy and made a really nice serving. Hopefully I won't have to use it too often!"

"I just got back into bow hunting after a 5 year lapse and decided to go the whole way. Being somewhat limited in my knowledge of tuning, serving, etc., I bought this kit mainly just for securing my G5 peep and whisker silencers, maybe a repair if need be. What I got was a complete kit with a very informative, step-by-step DVD which increased my ability to properly take care of my bow. This kit is a must for any archer's field bag!"

"I have shot bow for years, but have slowly been trying to learn all of the set up and maintenance myself.

I had no idea how to do serving so I was looking for a 'how to' kit.

Very informative and to the point. The tools will work well for as long as I want to use them or upgrade.
