Customer Reviews for Slick Trick™ Standard Broadheads
"Greeting, we do independent testing of broadheads and have nothing but rave reviews about this one!! I am not sure why people might criticize them? The have tested to be almost as accurate as field points (depending on setup), they are tough as nails, penetrating dense bone and are the second sharpest blades out of package we tested. I have seen some criticism as well regarding blood trails. We must remember that ANY broadhead is capable of leaving a poor blood trail under the right conditions. I have personally seen heart shots with good heads that have left virtually no trail, while I have recently shot 2 deer in the guts that left a blood trail like a garden hose let lose. Why, it can be because of several factors, first it may depend on whether or not an artery is hit, but I believe the biggest factor is how sharp the blades are upon penetration. You should NOT use a broadhead unless you can "easily" shave the hairs on my arm with it. You can have a "sharp" broadhead that can hit a artery with out rupturing it, but you have to a "razor sharp" blade if you want blood. Arteries are likened to surgical rubber tubing...tough!!! I am afraid many of the people leaving poor reviews are probably using less than satisfactory blades, maybe ones that have been shot at a target etc. If you see no blood, don't blame the broadhead, blame the meathead who used it dull. If you shot them at a target, don't hunt with them unless you know how to hone them back to razors."

Good Broadheads,November 2, 2009
By tsullyfrom Long Island, N.Y.
"I've been using another brand of fixed blade broad heads for years, but was disappointed by the planning and erratic flight. While these broad heads didn't have the same point of impact as my field points like the manufacturer claims they were not off by a lot. They did however print consistently enough that with a slight adjustment to my pins I was having no trouble hitting the bulls eye every time. Took them hunting this past week and arrowed a doe, the blood trail was a good one with a complete pass through. (Broadside 23yds.) I was happy enough with the performance that my arrows will be adorned by these broad heads from now on. If they would have had the same point of impact as my field points I would have given them 5 stars."

By vichrisfrom Albuquerque NM
"Best Broadhead on the market IMHO. I have used the Slick Trick Standard for the past three years and have recovered everything I've shot at. All had excellent bloodtrails and were recovered within site of the shot. Here's the list
These broadheads fly exactly like my field tips even out to 80 yds. They give you the confidence to take longer shots with devastating results."

Huge exit wound..,October 23, 2009
By koekafrom Andover, Conn
"Shot a buck at 20 yrds at a slight downward angle...the buck caught sight of me as I released and knew what had happened...he blew past me at full speed and I literally heard him pile into the trees at 60 yrds and knew he was down..not only did the arrow go through him..but it managed to hit a tree and I needed both hands to dislodge it...the exit wound looked like I'd hit him with a .50 Cal muzzle loader, almost a complete round hole about 1" in diameter...when I field dressed him I noticed how little blood was left in the cavity...amazing broadhead."

"I've tried most all types and brands available in todays market, with over 30 plus years bowhunting experience, and decided to give these a try, mainly because of the accuracy ratings.I was doubtful to be honest, but after getting them ,I just put the blades in,screwed them onto my shafts, and went out to my range, and up to 50 yds.,they fly just like my field points. This is as far as I tried them.No tuning, nothing.I decided to try one this past week on an actual hunt, and had a nice 100 lb. doe come by at 31yds,broadside.I settled my 30 yd.pin just behind her shoulder, and touched my release, and watched my arrow disappear in her side, and heard a loud pop.She ran about 40 yds., and stopped, looking around, and after a few seconds fell down, and it was over. After getting down, and walking to where I shot her,I found my arrow, with the head and blades in perfect shape. When I processed the deer, the arrow had centered a rib on entrance, plus one on the exit, and the arrow was still sticking in the dirt.Excellent blood trail, although not needed.I am heading to Illinois this week, and hope to try one on a giant. If you want accuracy, toughness, and a good head for the money, this is it."

Slick Trick,October 11, 2009
By MathewsDXTfrom Wyoming
"I shot a bull elk at 40 yards this year with a 100 grain slick trick, and was absolutely amazed at the devastation!! I shoot a 26" Mathews DXT at 65 pounds and blasted right through this bull hitting rib on the entry and exit. After recovering my arrow, only one of the blades was messed up, and that was only slightly. I think I could have easily used this arrow again!
If you want a broad head with out all the gimicks that just performes, Slick Trick is it!"

Great Broad Head!,October 6, 2009
By tommad10from South Carolina
"I started shooting Slick Tricks after reading some great reviews and speaking with a few other guys that had started shooting them. Right out of the pack, they flew great. I have not had one to fly bad yet. They shoot exactly like field points. After I was satisfied with the flight of my arrows, I took them to the woods. We are a few weeks into bow season here in SC, and I have killed two bucks with them. The entrance/exit holes are absolutely amazing. Neither of the bucks ran over 75 yards. If you want a great broad head, look no further...."

not impressed,September 29, 2009
By EliteGT500shooterfrom Upstate NY
"I bought these broadheads based on the reviews here and on other sites. However, they didn't fly good out of my Elite GT500. they were 4" left and high compared to my field tips. I paper tuned again after to make sure and it was fine. One thing I def. didn't like was they WHISTLE!!! I put my NAP spitfires back on and they fly perfect. I'll stick w/ what works."

Only Broadhead I'll Shoot,September 17, 2009
By cody58554from Mandan, North Dakota
"I shoot a Hoyt Katera. It's set at a 27" draw length and 68 lbs. I shoot Gold Tip number 5575 shafts cut at 25 3/8" fletched with fusion sheild cut vanes. I use 85 gr. heads. And I'm telling you these things fly just like my feild points. I've spin tested them and they spin "perfect"! These things fly great. I also love the thick blades. These things seem indestructable. The ferrule is super strong and does not damage easily. Infact, I haven't been able to wreck one yet. The fourth blade really helps for entry and exit holes too. Again, I can't say enough about the way these things shoot. I've shot Thunderheads, G5 Montecs and Muzzys.... the Slick Tricks are way better. Hands down the best head I've ever used."

Flies straight,September 10, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Colorado
"I have tested over 20 different broadheads in search of the one that would fly the straightest out to 70 yards. The slick trick won out. flies exactly like my field tips left to right, but has a little bit of lift past 40 yards. I highly recommend this broadhead; ecspecially for anyone who practices and is able to confidently hunt at longer ranges. No other boradhead compared at long range...not even the mechanicals."

Everything you look for in a broadhead.,September 9, 2009
By JosephMrp1from East Islip, New York
"First lets begin with the steel shank and blades. Most broadheads these days are using aluminum. The steel has punching power like no other. Second, tuning...all I can say is you can robinhood your field points with these broadheads. Third, for the price your getting a product above cost value."

Great Broadhead!,August 27, 2009
By Jumperboy357from Wisconsin
"Let's face it. Shot placement is what kills deer. That being said my bow shoots bullet holes through paper. It's properly tuned without a doubt. Slick Trick broadheads fly just as advertised out of my setup. These heads are tough as nails and zipped through two deer for me last year. One deer was only about 6 yards and I was 20 feet in the air. Hit a little high and blew right through the shoulder blade and out the bottom. The deer went about 40 yards. Granted, there are broadheads (especially expandables) that make bigger holes. But, I would love to see them be put through the testing on different targets that I put Slick Trick through. The others just wouldn't stand up, I've tried. On targets or through bone, Slick Tricks are great."

Excellent Flight, large wound channel,August 5, 2009
By Anonymousfrom the depths of Idaho bowhunting freakdom
"I've killed two deer and an elk with these heads (actually the magnums). The heads did hit a wee tad different than my field points, but still grouped perfectly, so I simply moved my sight just a bit. the 120 class mulie I hit went about 30 yards. The elk, with a less than perfect hit, managed to go about 200 yards, but I believe a head with a smaller cutting diameter would have not dropped the elk for miles, if at all.
I do wish the tips could be sharpened a bit, but hope to try the Razor tricks made by the same company which are COC heads.
Either way, two thumbs up for Slick trick company."

Great Broad head,July 20, 2009
By huntingtoedrfrom Rapid City SD
"I have tried many broad heads that people have recommended, G 5's, rockets, muzzy, wasp and store brands. This broad head flies incredibly true. I have a short draw length 27 1/2 and shoot a fast bow ,the mathews monster and the drenalin. From 50yds to 20yds center of the bullseye with out adjusting my sight. I will be using this for my elk tag."

Tricked In South Africa,May 12, 2009
By Cutnupfrom GA
"Bought the 100gr Slick Trick broadheads prior to my first trip to South Africa. Used them during practice and found that these broadheads fly the same as my 100gr field points. During my trip, I was able to SlickTrick a mature 40+" Kudu at 30 yards. The broadhead performed excellent and punched clean through both sides of the rib cage, undamaged. I am sold on them now and will be using them on some Georgia whitetail this fall. The only negative thing that I can say is that they didn't come with a wrench for tighting them onto the shaft. I guess with the performance, I can live with out the wrench."

Disappointed,April 14, 2009
By JoeinOhiofrom Ohio
"I bought these broadheads because of the reviews that I saw on this site. First, let me say that I was very impressed with how they flew. Impact was was exactly like my field points out to 30 yards. Beyond 30 I was hitting a little low but nothing out of the ordinary. They were a bit loud though. The "whistle" sound they made was noticeable but not too bad. Here is where the bad news starts. I shot a decent 9 pointer and must have hit him a tad low behind the front shoulder. With my expandables I believe I would have had good blood but not with the Slick Tricks. The blood trail was a bit sporadic. I never recovered the deer - first time ever for me! About two weeks later I shot a huge doe broadside at 27 yards. I watched the hit and it looked like the perfect shot. Again, with my expandables I am certain she wouldn't have gone more than 25-30 yards. Well, beyond belief she made it almost 65 yards and jumped into a river never to be seen again! I did have some good blood but again, it was not consistent. After hunting nearly 25 years and never losing a wounded animal I had managed to lose two within two weeks! It gets worse. A week after shooting the doe I hit a real nice 140-150 class 1o pointer. My shot looked good-behind the front shoulder and broadside at 25 yards. I quietly got down out of my ladder stand and walked over to my arrow and to my suprise the buck was staning looking at me having gone only 20 yards. I knew he was hit hard so I backed off and he walked away real slowly. I went back to my house, ate a late lunch and gave the deer three hours to die. When I went back to retrieve him I "kicked" him back up!!! I couldn't believe it. I decided to leave him alone for the night and get him in the morning. Well, a wet snowfall ruined the bloodtrail and the deer wasn't found until two weeks later. The coyotes ate well! Needless to say, I am done with SLick Tricks! My hunting buddy, who I talked into buying SLick Tricks, lost a small doe with them too. I'm going back to Rage this year."

Why Pay More???,April 11, 2009
By BowhunterInIndyfrom Indianapolis, IN
"These broadheads outperform any other fixed blade out there...at least all of them that I have shot, and I have shot darn near everything. If you shoot anything else, not only are you paying too much, you must like tinkering with your bow when you switch from field points to broadheads and back.
Always fly perfectly true, and never had anything but a full pass-through. Buy these broadheads - you won't regret it."

Good blade,December 25, 2008
By Kacyfrom Eagle River, Alaska
"I was really happy with these broadheads but I found that I had to adjust the sights on my Diamond Black Ice from my field tip shooting. They always flew well during weeks of practice with very tight groups. I took a doe with a slick trick this fall at 17 yards. It was a complete pass through of the chest cavity and stuck 8 inches into the ground on the other side. The young doe went only 15 yards before tipping over. The trail and bed area was lacking good blood. Eager to see how they do the next time with leaving a blood trail."
