"Purchased a new hunting rifle (Browning BAR 30-06) and decided to add a new scope. After lots of research and after reading reviews decided to give the Simmons Aetec a try. Big Mistake!!! The scope looks nice and on the outside appears to be of reasonable quality. Clarity is reasonable at low magnifications but when magnification increased the clarity really declined. When the shooting started, the frustration began. Able to hit dead center with close shots (<50 yards) but with shots farther away unable to hold zero (100yds). Adjustments would lead to 1 shot in the bulleye's eye but then the next 2 shots would be 4-5" inches in various directions. Although I am not an expert marksman, I thought this was too much variation. After several boxes of ammo and different bullet weights (which is not cheap!!) decided it must be the scope. Put on an old BSA scope and within 10 shots was shooting groups under 3" in the center of the target at 100yds. So, if you factor in the cost of the several boxes of ammo I should have just bought a leuopold or nikon (although I guess this can happen to any brand scope). Needless to say ,the scope is headed back to Cabela's. Love the return policy and customer service was very helpful."

Cheap optics, Complete Disappointment, Do not buy,September 25, 2009

"There was a time a few years ago, when the Aetec series was a pretty good buy. NOT so much anymore. Bought a 3.8-12x44 Aetec last fall. After 30 or so rounds through my 300 WSN the accuracy went to non-existant. Sent it in for repair, had to have the duplex re-zeroed. Bought another Aetec as a back up for my new 300 Ultra, can't even get a 6" group on 100 yards (scope was brand new out of the box) Went back to my trusted old Lepold scopes, shooting 1" groups on 200 yards all day long. Maybe a low cost alternative to introduce your youngster to the sport on a 22 mag. Definately not something to mount on a rifle you plan on using in the woods. On another side note you can't use the 12x magnification, 8-10x at most as anything above that will cause blurring beyond target recognition on anything further out than a 100 yards. You get what you pay for, but $100 would be too much for these guys. Complete junk for all I care."

"This is a great scope for the money. I have use them for almost 10 years now and I have several mounted on every cal. firearm from .233 to .270. I have never had a bad one. I have one mounted on a Browning A-Bolt .260. At 100 yards you can cut a dime size dot with three shots. Each shot might not touch but if you lay a dime in the center it will touch all three holes. I don't think there is a better value out there in this scopes price range.."

"I fully realize that this particular review will be read with a great deal of laughter or whatever. Very recently, I setup a Savage Model 93 BTVSS in the .17 HMR caliber. After three solid days of internet scope research, I decided to purchase this very scope for my Savage Bolt Target Varmint Stainless Steel Rifle. Using CCI 17 grain V-Max .17 HMR ammo, I can achieve dime sized groups at 100 yards. I even created a YouTube video showing this very fact. The Simmons Aetec scope that I have is the silver 44MM 2.5x10 power jobber without the side parallax adjustment. Quite simply put, I would recommend this scope to anybody shooting most (?) any type of the varmint or big game rifles. This scope is AWESOME. I rest my case."

"I have this on a nicely sporterized mauser chambered in .30-06. I'm able to shoot less than MOA with a couple pet loads. I find this scope to be very clear right out to the edge, and it is very good in low light situations. I have other brands of scopes costing more $$, but this scope does just as well optically. The adjustment seems to be more than 1/4 MOA, though. It is consistent, and predictable, but it is more like 1/3 moa per click on the elevation and windage adjustments. I really like the scope and will buy this brand again."

"I have owned Simmons before but this Aetec is by far the best one they have come up with.The clarity and eye relief is amazing! Ihave it on my 223 ar15 and at 350yds or 25yds it is so accurate and clear,i even sold my Leupold and bought another Aetec for my 270. You can't go wrong for the money!"

"A few months back I purchased a Marlin XL-7 in .270 cal. and a 4-14SF Simmons scope. I have just over $500.00 in the complete rig. The rifle came with weaver style bases, and I used Leupold rifleman rings. With RL-19 and 130 gr. bullet, it shoots into 1/2-3/4 groups all day long!!!!! The scope is great, very clear, but just as important, the eye relief is constant. I don't have to run my head in and out like a turkey tryin to get full picture, put it to your shoulder and it is there.
Good scope and it won't break the bank"

"i have had an atec 2100 mounted on a ruger mark2 77 rifle that shoots 30.06, for 5 years. the area i hunt is very hilly and wooded and most shots are 50 yards or less. every year i check for zero and have not had to make any adjustments since the scope was installed. this scope is great in all weather conditions and also in low light."
