"i used to always take my key when i went hunting, until i fell out in the woods and didn't think to check my pockets and thought my keys were safe....well when i arrived at my truck after being out all day, i reached for them only to find i had a hole in my pocket and my keys fell out...lucky for me i had a spare in a magnetic holder , but i don't trust those thing ,they could fall off while driving...who knows, someone could steal it....any way Hitchsafe™ Key Vault ...is a nice small compartment with a safe piece of mind!!!!...only problem is 2 holes in back of unit should be sealed with some silicone to ensure that nothing ever gets wet....somebody wrote a review about this item and "I THANK THEM"....wrap a 50 dollar bill and a spare key in a ziplock bag and stuff it in and you'll never get stranded with out keys and or money when there is no bank machine near by....."

"The cat's meow, perfect extra key storage for office, home, or condo when you are on vacation and don't want to wag your key around!! I couldn't get either of the gaskets to fit behind the plate because it fit so snugly into my Toyota's hitch. I wonder if there are different rubber covers to further disguise it????"

"I have been looking for something like this for quite a while. It pretty much eliminates the possibility of locking your keys in your car, and it's also nice to be able to lock money or a credit card in there too. Note: Two credit cards will fit, but if you plan on wrapping them in a baggie, it is a real tight fit. Overall, I am very happy with it."

"This a sturdy, very well made product. I now have one on each of our SUVs. I wrapped up spare car and house keys, and a $50 bill. I no longer worry about losing our keys or getting stuck without cash. The only downside I found is a small hole on the very back of the unit. This could let water in when driving on wet roads. I sealed this hole and the unit is now quite watertight. I sealed the keys and cash in plastic for additional protection. This added step would not be required for short term storage such as at a trailhead."
