"The yella hammer produced great realistic sounds, both loud and soft. If you find the sweet spots you can really manipulate the pitch well. I had two longbeards fly to within 10 yards of me after making a couple of soft yelps and clucks. The proof for this call is in the frying pan! It's the only slate call I'll use next year."

"I like the sounds I can get out of this call, and I have a dozen or so of different calls. It is supposed to function even when wet, and though I haven't tested it wet, I would be surprised if it had problems.
I'll try it next weekend on the real thing. Wish me good luck!"

"First time out of the box and this caller sounded so sweet. Spotted several Toms and a flock of Hens near the road on the way to work the next morning and Toms were working on cutting hens out of the flock so I stopped and pulled out the caller and started talking back to them. All 3 toms turned and started heading toward my vehicle with just a few clucks and a purr from the caller. Hope it works this well when spring season opens in 2 weeks."

"I was able to call in a good gobbler during Illinois fall turkey season. I would of been able to kill him but I wasn't able to get a shot. Great call I would recomend it to anyone because I had such great success with it."

"Very realistic sounding, but not very durable...surface is some sort of composite, also needs frequent cleaning...advice: go with the more durable glass hammer or silver hammer, because it's still a good call"

"This is a great sounding friction call. It needed roughed 1-2 times for a 3 week turkey season. The only thing I did not like was it had 2-3 small sweet spots."

"After receiving this Turkey call I went to a place I had seen several gobblers before season.I had pictures of them from my game camera taken during deer season.I started to yelp with my new Yeller Hammer and before long I could hear the ole Tom coming to me.I shot twice as he approached and he fell about 40 steps in front of me.He was a good size gobbler,weighing in at 20 pounds with a 10 1/2 inch beard.I was thrilled with the way the call worked and would recommend it to anyone who takes their turkeyhunting seriously as I do."

"I have always been a huge fan of the Knight and Hale products until I received the new "Yella Hammer" friction call. While the price was attractive, the call is nowhere the quality of the other K & H calls that I own.
I would suggest that anyone who is contemplating this series from K & H pass!
The product looks and sounds cheap. It is a great disappointment when compared to their other friction lines."

"The Yella Hammer Friction Call is EXCELLENT This will be my first ever turkey hunt this spring of 2008. and as I have never hunted turkey before I thought I better get a call to practice with.
And this call works GREAT and it is easy to learn. this is the first call of any kind that I have purchased but I WOULD Definetly purchase other Knight and Hale calls because I'm sure they are all easy to learn and fun to use.

"This is an great slate call! I kept two slate calls in my turkey vest last year this one and a expensive handmade call and this one had a spot last year and will be in there next year. I normal rotate my calls every year so the turkeys dont get usted to them but this one aint getting rotate next year."
