Remote Thermometer

Monitor the internal temperature of smoked meats from up to 100-ft. away. The wireless receiver alerts you when meat exceeds programmed temperature and when chamber temperature falls outside of your programmed range. LCD display also has a count-up and count-down timer along with a belt clip. Use with oven or grill too. Four AAA batteries included.

No longer a Slave to my smoker!, November 22, 2007

"I smoke meats in the 4-7 hour range and with this thermometer I am no longer tied to my smoker all day watching the thermometer to make sure my fire stays within temperature range. It has upper and lower temperature alarms and a timer, so I carry it around the house with me and it tells me when I need to go out to the smoker and work the fire.
You might have to be creative in finding a way to get the probe wires from the sensor into your smoker or grill (unit in the back of the picture). It would also be nice if the range was a little farther. If I'm on the other end of the house away from the smoker, the remote unit doesn't pick up the signal."

"both the meat and area sensing probes got overheated and
shorted out on the first time I used it--but they sell higher temprature probes as accessories."

"This is the second remote probe that has failed for me. The switches that turns the unit on and off are very low grade switches. It works if you can keep the on-off switch from breaking."
