There is a reason why its cheap, August 3, 2009

"After looking on various websites for a replacement bimini top for my pontoon boat, I found the Cabelas cover. Blinded by the low cost, I ignored the ratings that said it just didnt fit over the bows. I ended up having to find a welder to cut off the mounting brackets for the side bows in order to get the top over the main bows and then weld the brackets back on. There was no way the interior sleaves would fit over the bows so I had to rig a set of bungie cords to hold them in place. It worked but looks cobbled together. The top doesnt fit very tight and holds large puddles of water when it rains And don't even think of putting the cover over the top. It doesnt even come close to fitting. I dont know what they had in mind when they made this one but it wasnt to fit over a pontoon boat frame."

"THE REPLACEMENT TOP WAS PERFECT, BUT THE BOOT WAS TOO SHORT - I CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SENT ANOTHER TOP - JUST THINKING IT WAS A 1 X DEAL AND THE SAME SIZE BOOT CAME.

ALSO IN YOUR AD YOU SHOULD STATE THE STRAPS COME WITH THE TOP- WE ORDERED SEPERATE STRAPS."

"The new top looked great on our pontoon. It is a little work taking apart the frame to get the new top on but it is worth it. My only complaint was that on a pontoon your anchor light sets on top of the back bimini rail. There is no hole for the light to stick through. I had to cut a hole in the new top to allow for the light and wiring to fit through. I also had to cut a notch in the storage bag the top goes in for the same reason. The storage back is a struggle to get on once you fold everything back.
However, it was worth the price. I would buy this product once again."

"I bought this product as a replacement top for my pontoon boat. The sleeves for the front and rear mounting bows were sewn too narrow to be able to install the Bimini Top with out ripping the material."

"replacing the bimini top was the final stage in giving our aging pontoon boat a face-lift. the frame was fine and all i needed was the cloth. i found the solarskin replacement fabric at cabelas and decided that it was worth a try. some of the reviews that i read made me a bit hesitant....it sounded like a real task to put on. well, it is not. simply remove one side of the frame, slide it on, and reassemble using the other side as your model. you do need two people. the fit is ok, but not perfect. i had to modify a few things to tighten it up. if you are looking for an economical way out of replacing your bimini top, it is the way to go. according the pricing that i researched, i saved about $350.00 because i did not replace the frame too."

"The material used in making this bimini top is too thin. Also, the slots for the frame are too small and I could not get the forward and aft frame through the top. The material ripped when I attempted to put the top on the frame. I would not recommend this product and if I had not damaged it when I tried to install it, I would have returned it for a refund."

"I was in need of a new top for my party barge and saw this one in the catalog. I liked the price and the description sounded perfect. So I ordered it. When I recieved the top, it took me every afternoon for almost two weeks to install it. I had to dismantle the frame completly and cut off one of my existing brackets. I had to make a new bracket and then reassemble. Finally I got it on. Then as I put the storage boot on, it was too small. The storage boot was one of the reasons why I bought the top. I wanted to try to prevent this from happening again. The top itself seems to be good quality. This is my reason for the two stars."

"lightweight top suitable for occascional use.On a pontoon boat not easily installed as framework has to be disassembled to slide top on.Also bimini cover case is way to small to put around cover."

"hi: the bimini top for my pontoon was made of material that's to thin/flimsy. recent rain made it pool water in pockets in stead of running off. now it's streched in wrong places. my old one was made of heavy duty rubberizerd material & much better quality. no i wouldn't buy/reccommend another. otherwise the service was good. thanks anyway for asking. ron g."

"The price was excellent, but as others have said, you had better be handy, as complete disassembly of the pontoon bows is necessary. I used a digital camera to make sure it went back together properly. I also redid the way my running lights mount to avoid cutting a big hole in the fabric. Included is a boot to store it in, a $50 value or so, but it will not fit on a pontoon boat. It must have been designed for runabout/sport boats. The problem is pontoon bows are big and the boot will not go completely around all four when folded back, kind of like me trying to zip up my jeans from 30 years ago. That being said this is a bargain."

"We recently purchased a used pontoon boat that was missing the bimini top. The frame-work was there but the skin was missing.
I searched all over and found this to be the to be the best deal for a bimini skin only. It is easy to install and has worked great. It does not come with installation instructions so if you are a first timer it can be a little tricky. With a little time and patience you will be back in the shade in no time.
It is not mentioned but it does come with a storage boot."

"the top seems to be of ok quality, but is really hard to install - would be a breeze if the bow sleeves had zippers -- with a 2-way zipper in the rear to accomodate the stearn light - i had 2 put a series of snaps on the rear to make it fit"
