The Plain Toe Oxford is part of Cabela's Basin Collection, our new series of premier rugged casual footwear. These shoes are constructed of rugged, oiled tumbled leather, a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® membrane, a lightweight and tough Vibram® Gumlite® outsole, anatomic polyurethane footbeds and a moisture-wicking lining. These shoes are also made with a Goodyear® welt construction process, which only the finest shoes and boots are made with for rock solid durability. You can be sure that your feet will stay dry and comfortable with the protection provided by the GORE-TEX membrane barrier and moisture-wicking lining.
Color: Dark Brown.
Men's sizes: 8-14 D width; 8-14 EE width. Half sizes to 12.

"Purchased about two months ago and were comfortable right out of the box. Now have ordered a second pair (since NOW they are on sale ;-) ). Seems to be a well built shoe (solid, thicker leather, triple stiched). I really like them. My only complaint is that the shoe strings are just too long. How are you supposed to keep an extra 18" of string on each side of your shoe tied? Double knot? Maybe a triple. Good shoes though!"

"the only problem is the gore-tex makes them stay warm ( I work with molten glass), but they have been working really well. Took a few days to brake in enough to tighten the laces all the way. Very comfortable, good work shoe, good alternative to full boots. The sole has good traction, and is thick enough to be safe in my work environment."

"they seemed to be well built but there is a seam acoss the the bottom of the tounge that was very uncomfortable at least for me. I had no problem returning them and replaced them with a differet kind that seem to a lot better"

Very sturdy, well built-not the nicest for church.,July 8, 2008

"I bought these along with the Irish Setter/Cabelas Legends to see which fit the best, looked the best, and felt most durable. These definitely seem more sturdy, and even though they feel great they are stiff enough that I can tell it will take a few weeks of continuous wear to break them in - that is a sign of a great shoe or boot (it took me 4 months to break in my best pair of work boots ever, and they have been with me for 7 years). The 10D I ordered was true to size and fit well right away. The only drawback that I feel is worth mentioning is that when you are actually wearing these shoes, they don't look quite as good as they do in the picture for "nice" casual wear or church every sunday (even though I plan to wear them for everything, even church every sunday). They look a bit more like a work shoe than the Cabelas Legends. If you are looking for a reasonably durable shoe for "nicer" occasions and a prettier look, I would recommend trying the Irish Setter/Cabelas Legends if you can get a pair that fit in your size (the size 10D I ordered fit extra big in the toe width and length)...I would try them on in the store before buying.

"This is a solid work shoe. On the down side the tongue is sewn on too far back making it difficult to put on. The liners are unnecessary for those of us who use an orthotic but when not used the sole inside is very hard. Once I get the shoe on it is comfortable but with no padding under the ball of the foot I experience pain in the ball of my feet if worn while walking more than 2 hours."
