"It claims to take 8lb test line, it does, you just cant cast more then 20 feet. I used a Zara spook jr, with it, not sure why it lacks the casting ability, but it is is very smooth and quiet on the retrieve."

"My wife & I sometimes fish when we're out on the boat, so we didn't need any fancy expensive, equipment. After reading the reviews we thought why not.
Well, we've had fun with these little rods and reels, we fish for trout and they haven't let us down....Although it seems her's catches bigger fish than mine..lol. Great value for the money, they cast great using a fly & bubble, retrieve nice and are fun when you get a fish on. Rods are sensitive and fun, seem to be able to feel even the slightest nibble, the reels are smooth when bringing in a fish.
We had some friends on the boat the other day, and I told them about our inexpensive fishing gear and they were amazed at how well they performed. Again, the wife caught the biggest fish of the day.
Haven't caught any real big fish with them yet, (but we don't try too hard either) the biggest being maybe a 1 1/2 lbs. For the $$, they seem more than worth it. I think I'll buy a couple more for my daughter and her boyfriend. I've yet to catch a fish that was upset about being caught on inexpensive equipment....lol"

"I threw mine in the bottom of a dirty canoe for a cold spring Ozark fishing trip and every time I picked it up, it cast true and clean and held up well in heavy current and with some pretty strong strikes and battles.
The rod is flexible, but not rubbery and it is sensitive. The reel is strong, but delicate and smooth. Dollar for dollar, you really can't beat it. It exceeded my expectations.
Line twist can occasionally interrupt a cast, but this is true of most spinners and I did have to submit my reel to a thorough cleaning to remove grit after a couple of trips, but if this is the price you pay for such a smooth combo for a terrific price, I contend it's a mighty small price. And because of the price, I didn't live in fear of it going into the drink. In this outfit, you get a lot of sugar for your nickel."

"I have found that this rod and reel combo has been one of the best I have ever bought, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase! I have caught several kinds of fish with it already this winter, Large Mouth Bass, Blue Gills and even a Brown Trout, the smoothness of the reel and retrieve are excellent, the number of guides on the rod are just perfect for my needs, it gives me a better feel with the very thin tip on the rod, I can feel the action of the lures I am using better then any of the other rods I have, with the exception of my ultra lights, which are over 1 1/2 foot shorter and much more flexible. I am very satisfied and would recommend this combo to anyone who would like a light action rod and reel combo, I am very glad I bought it!"

"I am just a local fisherman and I bought this pole for the bigger fish. Works very nice and I have not had a problem with the reel or pole at all. My only down on it is that it is not very sensative when cast out a distance. Works fine when dropping the line in the water. I reeled in a nice large mouth bass the other day, didn't even know it was on my line!"

"Nice little reel/rod combo. While not the top of the line, VERY serviceable for me. Using 10lb mono, jigging for walleye, or casting for bass, has worked very well. One slight annoyance is the tendency for line twist while jigging.. haven't figured out if its the jig, or the bail....yet.
Overall, a decent combo for under 50 bucks"
