"This grinder is amazing. It was hard to pick which grinder I wanted due to so may choices, but when I read the reviews I knew this was the one...and I was right. Perfect for me: not a professional deer processor, but killer of at least 5 deer every year between me and my son. I cook a ton of chili and stew, etc, and I like to use ground meat for it. Just tonight I ground an entire deer ham in literally 5 minutes and threw it straight in the pan to feed my entire family for the weekend. I'm probably not gonna do anything fancy with this grinder, but I'll continue to grind several deer a year with it...so far so good. Instantly disassembles for cleaning in the sink. I just rinse it with water, that's all. Grinder sucks meat right in faster than I can cut the meat and feed it into the hopper. I am very pleased!!!"

"Purchased this grinder because the reviews were good.It went through the venison meat with no problem. When I started to grind the suet the grinder started to stress and gears slipped. Put it in reverse and the gears slipped again now I had a big paper weight with 2 deer to grind. Had to stop and clean it take it back to Cabelas ( which I had no problems at he store )and purchased the 1/2 hp which is a dream. This grinder says it is a PRO GRINDER but on the bottom of the unit it says for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY kind of miss leading if you ask me and I am not a butcher. As always you get what you pay for .If you can afford it get the 1/2 hp or better. Now I have this really big grinder to do 2 or 3 deer a year but at least it works"

"I bought this grinder before deer season last year, but didn't get a deer. Thank God I got one early this year and was able to put this grinder to work. I was amazed at how quickly and easily it ground through about 10 lbs. of meat. No jams at all. I buy whole rib eye steaks from the local wholesale club and saved the fat to mix with my venison burger and the meat tastes great. Clean up was easy as well. Thank you Cabelas for another great product!"

Not dishwaster safe,October 25, 2009

"The manual with the grinder states that NO part is dishwasher safe. The manual doesn't state why but it is because the grinder (except the dies) is made of aluminum and will corrode in the caustic environment of a dishwasher. The dies themselves are steel and will rust. The steel dies aren't an issue if you run the dishwasher right a way and treat the dies at the immediate end of the cycle.
Although no aluminum should be washed in a dishwasher, some alloys are more corrosion resistant- the grinder is not made of those alloys.
Cleaning by hand is a chore and it's difficult to get the raw meat and fat out of the various nooks and crannies after it is pressed into them by the force of the grinder. There is also the fact that I want to use the dishwasher heat sterilization on the items, but can't.
I can not recommend a meat grinder that can not be properly and easily cleaned or sterilized by a dishwasher.
-BTW be sure to wear hearing protection. It's very loud and I am surprised that the manual doesn't warn you about hearing protection. I haven't measured the db, but my bring my meter home from work to see if they are suppose to put a warning in the manual."

"Right out of the box to the cutting table, that little guy worked all day. Cut up a fallow, a red deer, and an elk! Had to stop twice to clean out the blade but that's to be expected grinding 100+ lbs of burger! Took out the blade and used it to stuff all the bags. It's an amazing little grinder and well worth the $!"

"This little grinder does an excellent job grinding up our deer meet. Rarely had to use the pushing tube, just kept feeding it and it never bogged down. We mix pork into our sausage and when grinding the pork, it did sound at times like it was bogging down, but it never stopped. Making sausage is a little more of a challenge, but still worked pretty well. We did 50 pounds and it took us just under 3 hours to do everything from start to finish (including grinding, stuffing sausage and clean up) If you have a lot of sausage to make, I would recommend a good stuffer. But for grinding, This thing worked great."

"I got this grinder on sale and I think that it is the best in its class. I was lucky finding it on Cabela's web site because I was originally searching for a Waring MG800 grinder until I realized that this is the exact same product just with the Cabela's label on it (even says so in the instructions). If you have to pay full price, it's still a great buy! More sturdy than other "plastic' grinders you can get at discount stores or online. I believe that this one has a metal gear box and therefore shouldn't fail anytime soon. My advice is don't get the cheap stuff because you will regret it - this grinder is worth the little extra money."

"The only problem I had was keeping up with the grinder. It ground the meat faster than my wife could cut it up. :) I haven't tried the sausage stuffer tubes yet, but I'm sure they will work as fine as the grinder. The grinder is easy to clean and is very simple."

"I'd been looking at manual grinder for quite sometime. I was looking for an inexpensive grinder that would last a long time. I caught this electric one on sale and decided what the heck, I would go for an electric one since the price was so reasonable and the reivews were positive. Glad I did. This grinder will grind the meat much quicker than I can cut it off the bone. Now I realize how much of a pain it would have been to debone all the meat and then to have to hand grind it. This grinder really pumps the meat out quick. Only issue I have is the parts are not diswasher safe. Not a really big deal since I only kill a few deer a year. It appear to be a solid design. As long as the motor doesn't go out it appears it will last a while"

"This grinder works great! The selection of fine, medium, and coarse handles the vast majority of needs. The sausage tubes work great. We have now used it for hamburger and sausage, from 1 lb. to 10 lbs, and it has been fast and easy to use. We have 8 kids, and so when we use it, we need to put out a lot of ground meat, and it has been easy to use, easy to clean, and very effective and affordable. I highly recommend this grinder."
