"This call does what any slate call is supposed to do....make realistic turkey sounds. And it does exactly that. This is the perfect PA slate, and when paired with a good striker it's uinbeatable at any price. I use it with the Primos Lucky Striker, Triple 7 & Kee kee striker. All of them purr perfectly with different tones. I've called a gobbler in every year since buying it as my 1st slate call. If I had to choose one call for a hunt, it would be the Ol'Betsy and the Lucky Striker without hesitation. And that would leave A LOT of other higher priced calls at home."

My first turkey call...,

"Bought this call just to see if I could use it -- haven't even hunted turkey before (I am mostly a deer hunter); but I thought if the call works, maybe I'll give it a try. Went out to some "deer property" I own where there were turkey signs -- had actually caught a couple of turkeys on some trail cameras I have there. Just stood out in the open and scratched out a few calls. Imagine my surprise when I got a gobbler to answer me almost immediately!!!
Haven't actually called one in yet; but there's still almost a month left in the Spring Turkey season here in Tennessee. Time to get out the old 12-gauge and give it a try...
This call is very basic in construction, but was pretty simple to learn to use. Now I just have to figure out how to use it WELL; but if I don't get a turkey, it won't be the "Ol' Betsy's" fault."

"This is my first slate call. I've been using box calls since I was 13 and mouth calls since I was 17. This call is very easy to use. Took me less than an hour to learn how to yelp cluck and purr. I have been looking for a call to use on rainy days when a box call won't hack it. I ran this call under the sink and it still makes the same sound. I was going to buy extra strikers but there doesn't seem to be a need to, the yelp is just as realistic as my mouth calls."

"Love this call. Sounds great. I would recommend though purchasing better quality strikers. The striker that comes with it is fine and works well, but the calling can be greatly improved with a better striker. The striker it comes with is very raspy, which many people like, and not very loud. The call itslef, however, is great. Only slate call I need.
Primos makes some great stuff."

"This was my second slate the other came from another company this one sounds very good easy to use my first one was not so good i gave it away to somone who has been turkey hunting for a while and he gave it to his kids for a toy but this OL'BEASTY when he heard it he went and go him self one and he is a seasoned turkey hunter i would recommend this call to anyone for the newest turkey hunter to the oldest this call is awsome"

"Purrrrrr-fect. (sorry, I couldn't resist). 1st rate product. Easiest to use slate call you'll ever find. You can make perfect turkey calls right out of the package. Nice soft slate is very forgiving and really, really easy to use even for a beginner. From soft purrs to loud cuts, clucks and yelps...it's all easy. I highly recommend this call...especially for beginners...Also, lower pitch and more raspy than glass surface calls, so nice to have both. None better for the price."
