Golden Rings are great!,January 19, 2008
By FISHUNT7from Crimson Tide, Alabama
"These binoculars are everything I was hoping for. I put a lot of research in before buying them and was down to the Leica, Swarovski, and Leupold Golden ring. When these went on sale it was a no brainer. These are $1,000 cheaper than the comparable competitors binos and are in the same class as them. Yes the Swarovski and Leica may be a little better for bird watching but I am not looking for red, blue, green, or golden deer. I am looking for grayish brown deer in an environment that has a lot of browns, grays, and blacks. To see them I needed great contrast, clarity, low light capability hue, and focusing. These Leupolds offer all of that along with premium build and functionality. With my old binoculars I would scan the edge of a field, treeline, or grass patch. Due to the extremely sharp image with these binoculars, I can see back into the trees several feet where the deer stand and wait while they look out across the fields."

By onionskinsfrom I hunt in canada over 50 days a year every year.
"I lived in these binos for a 14 day sheep hunt in british columbia canada, saw lots of sheep and were wonderfull to stare through day after day for 14 hours. The focus was clear and bright the straps and accesories are awsome but man are they ever a heavy set of binos. Well over 2lbs of glass around your neck all day will wear you out in the mountains. I guess that the trade off to be able too see until the pitch black dark though."

"I did a five month research on binoculars, as I wanted a second pair. I have tried all the expensive binos like Lieca, swarovski, zeiss, and stiener, however no one has or uses the leopold gold ring in my area. The sale price tag looked good. I use three leopold scopes on my rifles and never had a problem even at -45 C. I purchased the leopold gold ring binos and went out on the tundra with my brother inlaw and brought out swarovski and lieca to test against the leopold. I don't know if my eyes adjust quickly or if all three binos were the same looking at objects in different distances. For the price tag it would be very hard to beat the leopold gold ring."

Top Quality,June 23, 2009
By JMS87144from New Mexico
"Selecting binoculars is difficult. I went to the NRA Convention in Phoenix and spoke with representatives from many of the top optics companies. The reps that I spoke with gave me a lot of information about what is different in top of the line binoculars and the cheaper models. Good glass / coatings and a solid housing pretty much sum it up.
The Leupold Gold Ring series has all the good stuff. I bought mine on sale and paid about half the price of a Swaroski set. A friend that owns Swaroski binoculars says that his are clearer from edge to edge than the Leupolds, but I cannot see the difference. The images are clear; edge to edge.
I have used them to spot animals at dusk and they are fairly bright. I have the 10X and the 8X should be a little brighter, but the 10X is good. The extra magnification is useful in the west where the distances can be long. I also did some spotting into the setting sun. There was some minor flaring but I could still see my image against a shadowed backdrop.
I am far-sighted, but I don't wear my glasses with binoculars. I don't seem to be able to get an image that I like with my glasses on, and these binoculars are no different. I can see just fine at a distance, so I set my rifle scopes and binoculars for use without my glasses.
I am very pleased with these binoculars. I also have a set of Canon 10X image stabilized binoculars. They are good also, but the Leupolds get used more because they are lighter and smaller."

nice glass !!!,February 17, 2009
By thecanuckfrom OkanaganFalls,B.C
"Bought these half a year ago and had the opportunity to usethem here in the okanagan last hunting season.Man what a fine binocular.Detail, clarity is everything i expected from leupold.i dont know whether thats a sale price or not,ive seen them elsewhere for the same price but they are well worth the money sale price or not.Everything about these glasses screams quality,i am going to be studying to be a wildlife biologist next fall and these will be a necessity for many years to come.good job leupold.I compared these to a vintage pair of zeiss binos my mother had for a long time and these are every bit as clear and definetly more weather proof.it is amazing how clear those old zeiss binos are though.10 by 42.Spend the money and find those elusive steaks on legs!!!!"

Golden Ring 8x42,December 20, 2008
By rmaciasfrom El Paso, TX
"These binoculars are exceptional in color and clarity. They have an excellent field of view and allow you to glass for hours. I highly recommend them for intermediate users looking for something beyond entry level models. The only gripe is the weight; they are on the heavy side but with the proper harness can be worn comfortably on backpacking and hunting trips."

top notch binocular,October 27, 2008
By cbinseazfrom SE Arizona
"I was shopping for some top notch binoculars and hadn't looked at these Leupolds. I was comparing european binos on a resulotion chart, and was prepared to buy a set of them, and for some reason, I asked to see the Leupold HD's. I spent an additional hour looking through and comparing these to the other brands. I was really impressed with the Leupolds.
I went home and did some research online, and decided to save some money and purchase what I felt was the better bino 10x42 Leupold HD's.
I was drawn for an early Coues Whitetail hunt, and WOW! In the field these binos really shine. I was glassing for several hours every day and not once did I get tired of looking through these bino's. The resolution and color are exceptional. As far as the weight, with the harness, you don't even notice it. Happy hunting!"

See what you didn't see before.,October 6, 2008
By Birdhunterndfrom Westhope, ND
"These Leupold GR HD binoculars are great. The clarity and sharpness of objects is amazing. I don't believe you will find a better optic for use in low light conditions (dawn & dusk). I can pick out small things with the HD's where I can't see them with my Redfields. I was skeptical of spending this much for a pair of binoculars but after using them I would do it again if need be. Anyone that has to do a lot of glassing where they hunt, or just like to bird watch or star gaze, I would highly recommend they get a set of these binoculars. I cant' wait to get my Leupold HG Spotting Scope now."

"I shoot in Co Kerry in Ireland for deer in the mountains, it rains most days and I could not believe how good they are. With the low light transmission and range I could spot deer for miles into the mountain. My friend uses Swarovski, which cost €2,000(euro), and these are as good if not better. A steal at the price! and made in usa"
