great idea, poor execution,November 17, 2009
By UPdrafterfrom Ishpeming, MI
"love this idea. worked great on first day. comfy (enough) for a small, lightweight seat that was simple to carry (in backpack side pocket) and deploy. 3 legs are so much better than 4, but it broke during my second use. the swivel mechanism is lightweight plastic and exploded into 3 pieces. I'll be returning this. I'm near the 200# weight limit, so If you're a lot smaller it might be fine."

You get what you pay for.,October 22, 2009
By thedragonslayerfrom Washington
"This product may be good for camping, but for huniting in a stand it is not worth the price. The chair quickly becomes uncomfortable causing the user to constantly readjust. After one hour my legs began to hurt. I finally had to go get a camp chair to finish my hunt. I am glad that I practiced setting the chair up before the hunt. It is very hard to break down and store back in the carry bag. You get what you pay for. I am going to be returning the product."

Archer's Chair-,September 29, 2009
By Mikamochafrom Pennsylvania
"Needs a carrying strap or back pack straps to help in carrying. Kind of awkward if your hands are full of a bow, arrow and other archery gear. Too much noise when opening it up.
Also, chair should have a swivel feature-on the plus side it is lightweight and adapts well to uneven terrain.Very comfortable...I actually dozed off in it once or twice."

Poor Stool,September 18, 2009
By manyhobbies
"I purchased the Ameristep Swivel Tripod Stool for my wife. She was looking for a chair to sit on while bird watching that was portable and capable of being rotated. It quickly arrived, I opened the package, and set it up in the living room. I took a seat and CRUNCH. One of the swivel seat supports buckled. I weigh in at 220 lbs but wouldn't have expected the ease with which this broke. I had no problem returning it for a refund. I have other Ameristep products but this one was no good for me."

Archers chair,August 30, 2009
By R011
"This chair is worth the money, I am a big guy more then 250 and it works fine for me. Had this chair for two years, It's just as good as the day I pick it up. Will I buy this chair again: Yes; It would be nice if it came with a carring strap ."

Not worth the money,August 5, 2009
By Walldogfrom Phelan, CA.
"The chair didn't come with directions, and if you don't set it up correctly, the pipes that support the seat will bend, and then the chair is useless. Also it is not very comfortable, after about 5 minutes in the chair it starts to hurt your butt. I am returning them as soon as possible."

Junk!!,July 10, 2009
By 5zxcvfrom Northeast, Pa
"I opened the box and tried the chair. The chair would not close after trying it once. I called Cabela's customer service to see if there was trick to get it to close. They said you have to pull hard to get it to unsnap from the open position. When I did the metal seat arm broke off. Cabela's was service was excellent but I would not recommend this product to anyone."

Ameristep swivel stool,May 19, 2009
By turkeyhuntingMomfrom Hillsdale, MI
"This product is JUNK. It broke the VERY FIRST TIME I used it. The chair folds up so it fits in a carrying case. After I sat on it once, I could NOT get it to fold. After struggling with it I got it to collapse enough to carry. The next day when I tried to use it. I could not get it to open on one side. I sat on it to try to get the third support to open and the pipe split in half at the pivot point. The chair went in the garbage and I sat on the cold, wet ground for my weekend of turkey hunting. I will NOT buy another Ameristep product, that is how disgusted I was with this stool."

Somewhat Dissatisfied,April 26, 2009
By Paul45from St. Cloud, FL
"This is compact and very handy this way, but the stool isn't for anyone over about 180 lbs. When this stool was used the second time, one of the plastic feet broke off. It should be more durable if it is going to be used in the outdoors. The seat is extremely small but it does work, just not for a larger man or woman."

Poor Construction,March 21, 2009
By vezz007from Madison, WI
"After having a folding chair give out from years (nearly 20) of service I needed to get another stool. I chose the Ameristep Swivel Tri-Pod Stool thinking the design would meet my needs and provide flexibility. I'm not a big person, 5'9" 180#; the stool failed after a half dozen uses in the field. The center plastic hub failed while turkey hunting much to my suprise and shock. Would recommend other chairs before this stool."

I would not recommend,January 12, 2009
By BigDave32from Edmond, OK
"I am a big guy (6' 4" 250 lbs) so buying a seat with plastic legs may not have been my best decision. I used the seat once in a turkey blind with no problems. I used the seat the second time on a duck hunt with no issues. The third time, however, was on a January duck hunt and I was sitting in about a foot of water. Crash went the legs (all three broke off at the swivel) and in to the freezing water I went. Fortunately, I was wearing my new Cabela's chest waders and only got my gloves wet which still ruined the hunt. I would NOT recommend this stool for anyone over 100 lbs."
