"I read reviews about this product before I ordered it, and saw that the reviews were mixed. I wore these boots once, on a 1 hour hike. The ankle area was really tight and painful. Also these are not waterproof. I crossed a 2 foot wide stream, that was only 8 inches deep, well below the boot level, and water poured in and got my feet soaked. These boots, were impossible to take off. I had to get help from my family. I wear size 8, and these boots were size 8. I am in the process of trying to return them."

"I love these boots! I use them just about every weekend to hike through the woods, through streams and creeks, through mud and snow and so far no leaks! The sole has great traction.
I am a petite woman and these were a perfect fit. Most boots are too big in the calf and in the foot area. These boots fit me everywhere: in the calf, in the foot, and in the ankle. They were true to my regular street shoe size.
There is a hard piece to the boots around the ankle area that can rub up against your bone, but this is not a problem if you wear the proper socks.
I think these boots are excellent and I would recommend them to others."

"Although these are excellent boots and the fit is perfect once they are on. The only problem is that they are extremely difficult to get on and off due to the tightness of the boot throat. If you have a long foot this will definately increase the difficulty of getting them on and off."

Really painful around the ankles,September 1, 2008

"The boots themselves fit - a little big in the toebox area which is surprising b/c I have fairly wide feet. The issue with these boots is the plastic/metal that wraps around the ankle. I am assuming this is the material that helps protect you from snakes. Which is a good thing however it really hurts. I worked in these boots for about 5 hours and had worn cuts into both of my ankles b/c the material was completely cutting in. The boots themselves were almost too big everywhere else though so it is not like I could go up one more size. I had a scab on my right ankle for like 3 weeks afterwards. My husband has them packed back in the box and put some pieces of wood in them while they are stored to try and stretch the sides out."

"I was thrilled when my Rocky 15" SWAT Snake boots arrived and ripped into the package to try them on. I wasn't sure about how comfortable such high boots would be. I put on a air of my Cabelas CoolMax heavyweight socks and slipped on my boots. They were a dream. I wore them all day that first day, thinking i needed to break them in before deer season began. At the end of the day, my feet felt great due to the excellent support and I did not have any sore spots either. It has been that way every time I wear my boots into the field to check my trail cam or take care of other things like clearing a shoot path for a tree stand. These boots really don't need breaking in because of how they are made. The boots climb great; they walk and run great and they do not feel big and bulky on my feet. These are a great buy for women looking for those hard to find women's snake boots. I have already recommended to all of my hunting friends."

"The boots are OK, but they are awfully small around the calf. My bride has very muscular legs and can't pull the front portion of the boots together without making them uncomfortably tight around her calf. The tongue is very, very narrow and this causes large gaps between the sides of the boots and the tongue. Basically an open area where water, debris, or even worse, snake fangs can enter the boots. The boots are tall and supposedly waterproof, but this gap would allow water a direct route inside. I guess as long as she doesn't wade into anything more than a few inches deep they will be OK, but we're not too crazy about the open area on a snake boot. I just can't figure out why they didn't bring the sides of the tongue on up to near the top of the boots, and why the boots are so tight around the calf area. There's no way she could put her pants leg inside the boots. They are just too tight. While much better in snake country than tennis shoes, they could have been better by making a few small changes to the tongue and making the calf just a little bit more roomy. Other than that, the boots are well made, broke in quickly, and are comfortable on long hikes. I know she feels more confident walking in tall grass and around bolders where rattlers like to hide. That alone makes them worth the price."

"My wife loves the boots. They are super comfortable and being snake proof is perfect. We own 40 acres in the Ouachita Mts. in Arkansas and hiking or hunting you will always run into copperheads or rattlers in the mts. with these your legs all the way up to the knees are protected and it gives you a grea feeling. I also have a pair of men's Rocky 15" boots, and they are just as comfortable as my wifes. We both have had personal experiences with snakes that are proof they will protect you. They are great boots for the money."

"These are serious, rugged snake boots! I ordered a pair for myself, and was so impressed by the quality and comfort of the snake boots, that I bought my husband a pair too! This boot is without a doubt, true to size. I wear a woman's size 8, but thought I should go up half a size to allow for socks... Wrong! Unless you plan to put three pairs of socks on, stick to your actual shoe size. And thank you Cabela's for having extra wide sizes. My husband was relunctant about my ordering the Rocky boots for him; since his feet are very wide, he didn't expect they would fit. He tried them on, and now we have matching his & her kick-snake-butt snake boots! It's so nice to just put these on, and know that working or playing in the desert is now much safer...
