"When I first bought the Rocky snake boots, they performed well, (water proof, and comfortable). On the second day hunting, I noticed the sole, at the heel, was starting to separate, though, still water-proof. I didn't use the boots for another year, but, when I did the lug on the sole broke off... now they leak. The lug on the other boot is doing the same. I contacted Rocky Boot Co. and they stated that they only have a 1 year warranty, period, no exceptions. I have always bought Rockies, but something has changed... Rocky was a BIG disappointment... I'm looking for another brand."

"Very comfy for hiking of which I do a lot when I hunt but the sneaker-like seal on these boots is already coming loose and they've only been hunted in for one fall season. They are no longer waterproof, therefore, and were only truly waterproof if you were walking through maybe one puddle. If you hunt in swamp drains or sloughs, this will never keep you dry even before your soles start to tear loose on the sides. If all you do is treestand hunt, sure, these are fine, but if you hike/slip hunt much at all, these won't last. You're better off buying hip waders for swamp hunting."

"This is the second season I have used these Boots. I have hunted with them in the western Texas hill country which is loaded with cactus and other nasty stuff (luckily I haven't run into any snakes yet). The boots have held up very well and I have never had any problems with them. They are very comfortable, durable, broke in easily, and don't tire your feet out. This year, I walked in them for 3 days straight walking about 4+ miles per day with no problems. I have been through mud above my ankles with no leaks. I could see these boots lasting me at least another 6-8+ seasons with this type of use. I have a size 11 foot. I purchaced the 11wide which was a perfect fit for my normal width foot."

"These boots took a very long time to break in for me and killed my feet in the process. They really cut down my mobility. Once they were finally broke in, it seems the waterproof factor was out. My feet started getting wet in heavy dew. Get a good pair of gortex boots or rubbers if tall boots are in order."

"Great boots, but the arch insert that comes with the boot is too far forward. Bad news. Take out the inserts and then add a bit of arch support where it counts. A simple modification from Dr. Scholl's does the trick."

Snakeproof, not waterproof,March 20, 2008

"I've had a pair of Rocky snake boots for a few years. The first trip I took, a seam at the heel blew out. They have never been waterproof - the outer boot leaks, and the "waterproof" liner oozes. They are reasonably comfortable, and they have been snakeproof (w. diamondback, cottonmouth, copperhead). Note that pretty much any shoe will block a strike to the sole, and most leather boots will block a defensive strike, unless you let the snake chew on your toes. So, I would take height, comfort, and waterproofness over "snakeproof." They have performed well against thorns. But, can't recommend these boots unless you will be in consistently dry terrain."

"I love my snake boots. They are not as water tight as they could have been if the sides of the tongue came all the way up to the top of the boots, but they are fine for shallow water and wet grass. They are well made, broke in quickly, and are very comfortable. I can walk all day in these boots. Just knowing that a snake can't get at my ankle or lower leg makes me feel much more relaxed while hunting. I don't walk around with one eye on the ground and the other looking for game like I used to. Now I can pay attention to what I'm hunting and not be worried about every step in the tall grass or stepping down off of ledges.
I have stepped on snakes on two occasions (without snake boots) and been lucky enough not to have been bitten. Believe me when I say, you won't see them until it's too late."

Rocky Snake Boots a no-go,October 1, 2007

"I bought the boots for the South Texas Dove Opener this year, for walking around in brush and grass which was long enough to hide rattlesnakes, common in the area.
These boots abraded my ankle after walking about 100 yards. The only way I could make them work is to pad the sore spot with moleskin and wear thick socks. I returned them after just one wearing."

"i call them tick boots as opposed to snake boots. i bought them so that a tick would have to climb up 15 inches of boot to get to my leg. spraying them with one the new tick sprays for boots and clothing makes it a difficult trip for a tick. these boots are very comfortable and i wear them for yard and forest work. as to not recommending them to a friend-i normally do not recommend products to my friends."
