"I had the pleasure of using this trolling motor for two weeks straight right out of the box! I had read all of the reviews I could find on this motor and let me tell you, 90% of them were dead wrong! I had the older version of this motor and this one blows it away as to the ease of deployment! I was able to press the lever and have the motor "disengage" VERY easily. The newly designed foot control was more than easy to use and in fact it was almost too easy,it turns very quick using any power setting. I f I had a complaint it would be that i did not spend the extra money for the model with the built-in transducer. After much trial and error i finally came up with a way to route my transducer cable sufficiently enough as too be satisfied with the results. To top things off,I received the new motor 5 days earlier than expected! Great excuse to start fishing earlier than planned. Don't hesitate any longer,go buy one and see for yourself."

"After having the same Motor guide Brute for 17 years I wanted to try something less bulky in the bow of my boat. A friend has a Power drive in wireless, so I did some research and found that most dealers and repair shops said go with Minn Kota. I've only had it out twice, but can say that so far it has been great. It takes a little getting used to the wireless remote and foot pedal, but nothing that difficult. I wish the wireless foot pedal had a momentary switch like the corded one, but I got used to it. In my opinion, very few things are made as rugged as they used to be, but time will tell how the mechanical and electronics hold up. Iam going to purchase the extended warranty, just in case."

"This motor is outstanding. My 17 ft mod-V Jon boat is easy led around with this motor. Even though its a 12 volt vs 24 volt system, the battery life is outstanding. Rarely do I need full power with this motor thus I can go all day on a full charge. The motor mounts firmly into the station, it can be a little difficult to push out into the water if you're not used to it. Regardless, would highly recommend this motor to anyone."

"i purchased this with co-pilot(total dream gadget,forget the i phone),works excellent except deploying and storing.seems to stick on deployment.needs release that auto deploys and elctric drive that would store unit by push of button.but i may be dreaming.seems to draw battery slow.brought my loaded deep v lots of gear and 2 peeps 14 miles upstream in river(love them barges) after all afternoon and eve fishing after i ran fuel tanks dry.note to self go upstream of launch ramp,in future if not paying attn. to fuel guage."

""Tried this motor out last week and it performed to all expectations. It was powerful and easy to use. It was installed on a 17 ft Arrow Glass bass boat and used in some fairly windy conditions. The battery lasted all day with frequent use and the improved foot pedal controller was easy to manipulate. I found it a little awkward getting the motor back up and locked in and switching from continuous to momentary tended to slide the pedal over to the side. I think I will put some Velcro on the bottom of the pedal to hold it in place and it should be good to go. The cord from motor to pedal was long enough to reach to the back pedestal seat so sitting in the back of the boat was an option.""

"I got this motor for a 17' v-hull that I converted into a fishing boat and was a little doubtful that it would be able to stand a full day of hard fishing pulling it around because of it being a 12volt but let me tell you it does the job and then some. when i fish i spend at least 6-8hrs on the water and run the trolling motor just about the entire day and so far it has not let me down. also it it a very tough motor i've had it in some very brushy place and its power right threw. this motor is a beast."

"The speed control is not dependable below the setting of 2.5 Sometimes does not turn propeller at all at 2 Must wiggle speed control to use sometimes, not at all happy with speed control.... Not happy because it pulls current on 0 or if power is hooked to unit at all... should have a disconnect/switch on unit its self ex: below 0 off switch"

"First of all, I would not have even given this motor 1 star but for the fact that I couldn't give it a 0. I received this motor from Cabelas three days ago. I went fishing yesterday. It is coming off my boat today and being shipped back on Monday.
The product is poorly engineered and should not be purchased for numerous reasons:
1) the reaction time of the "NEW" powerdrive system is unbelievably slow. You cannot turn it quick enough to quickly maneuver in tight situations. If you go towards the bank say to free a hung up lure (I know that no one does this), you will likely run into the bank or into a tree. You also will not be able to navigate efficiently in shallow water.
2) The foot control is horrible. You have to pick up your foot and move it from the far left side to the far right side to turn the motor. Basically, if you turn it too far to the left, you have to pick up your foot and move it to the other side. Another thing, if you are running the motor and try to turn, the motor will temporarily stall.
3) Whoever designed the bracket should find a new profession. The bracket necessarily extends approximately four inches over the side of the boat just to drop the motor. If you were to pull the trailer too far in the water, the roller will hit the bracket.
4) The Universal Sonar does not come with the adapter. It is important to know that if you purchase this trolling motor, you then have to purchase a 25 dollar adapater in order to hook up a fish finder. It is not clear that you need to purchase it either from this website or from the minn kota website.
5) The new powerdrive system is very loud when you turn the motor. It makes a loud mechanical noise. Although this is not a big deal, it is still something that I do not like.
I could complain about many more things with regard to this motor. That being said, there were two (and only two) positive things about this motor. I liked the speed control, it was quick and easy to use (and the only thing about this motor that is quick). I also like the battery gauge. The moral of this story is not to waste your money on this motor. If you want a trolling motor, either buy a Motorguide or the Minn Kota Maxxus. They both are a little more expensive, but trust me, spend the extra 75 - 300 dollars. I'm going to."
