"Wood construction and protective tape ensures no scratches to the rifle. The vise cam does not have the capability to get tighter than a standard rifle stock, but it does get tight enough to use. The free screwdriver set is about what you would expect for free. the bits break as soon as you put any real stress on them. I have never used one of these stands before, but it really beats installing scopes and doing cleaning freehand. Overall, a good functional product that really saves time when working on your rifle."

"The vise itself works great. I have used it with my 24" AR and my Rem. 700 5r. The screwdriver set is as close to worthless as a set of this nature can get. The handle is the only actual working piece of equipment. I am fairly sure the bits are made of pot metal as they twist off without much effort, sometimes leaving the tip of the bit in the mounting screw hole of your brand new scope rings. Buy it for the vise and throw the bit set away."

"The vise turned out very nice for the price. It is nice for minor gunsmithing work (scope mounting,etc.). I also use it to just display one of my guns, it's very attractive for that. I also have the Cabela's plastic vise which is good, but this one is a little better."

"This is a very useful gun vise. The only thing about it that I didn't like was that the pre-drilled screw holes weren't lined up properly. After I redrilled and assembled it, it works very well. I wouldn't use it for sighting-in, but for gun maintenance it is a very useful vise. I would gladly recommend it to my friends, with advise about the screw holes."

"I purchaced this product with great expectations for a quality product from Cabela's.At assembly I found that the pre drilled holes in the base and the uprights did not line up, being 1/8 inch off. Also the wood used for the uprights was of poor quality. The offset is fixable, but shouldn't have to be done."

"This item is just not the quality I expect from Cabela's. Poorly constructed with glue joints that fall apart right out of the box. I'm a handy person so I can fix the poor joints, and I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth regarding the free screwdriver kit that came with the vise, but, the first bit I chose to use twisted into a corkscrew. I would suggest Cabela's offer a better model at a higher price."

"The screws used to assemble the Gun Vice are packed between the base component and the vice. They are not packaged in a way to prevent marring of both surfaces, leaving digs in the wood. Not representative of a New Product."
