"I heard years ago that fluorocarbon floated and was therefore not good for nymphing. I have been using it in 6x and 7x for years for dry fly fishing. Then recently, I heard that it disappears underwater and was VERY good for nymphing, so I spent the money and bought some in 3-5x and tried it out last week. I caught more and larger fish nymphing than any of my fishing buddies who used regular monofilament tippet. I can't say its the tippet material, the flies, or my technique, but I did outfish everyone else over 2 days. I have been using Umpqua tippet exclusively for years and have been very pleased with the results anyway. Now, I regret having told my buddies about the experiment."

"After fishing with umpqua fluorocarbon I'll never use another tippet material. This stuff is incredible. Most of my fishing is done using small (no bigger than a size 18) fly, so i use 6x and 7x tippets all the time. This product has been strong enough to land me more than one 7+ pound fish on those small tippets, but also, unlike other fluorocarbons, is flexible enough to provide to delicate presentation that is normally characeristic of a monofilament line. This material is AWESOME!!"

"The best thing about UMPQUA tippet material is its abrasion resistence. I was sold on this tippet material when I hooked a 14" rainbow on the Little Pigeon River, TN. The fish immediately took my 6x tippet under, wrapping it around the base of a boulder. Then the fish jumped, and I assumed the trout was lost. I continued to try to free my pinned tippet from under the boulder for several minutes without hope of landing the fish; but when the tippet finally came free of the boulder, there was the trout! The tippet was still intact! I proceeded to fight, land, and release the little beauty without any problem with the tippet. Now that's tough! I don't recommend intentionally putting UMPQUA to this kind of test on your own, but it says a lot about the quality and performance of their product! Oh, yes; it's also invisible and easy to work with! I even tie it to braided superline on my spinning tackle and love the way it performs!"
