Does the job...but here's the catch,April 2, 2009
By JaguarXKRfrom Baltimore, MD
"This is not a bad net but I want to make sure you understand the limitations. If you are challenged throwing the traditional cast nets, this is a great solution! The only limitation is the length of the net compared with your height.
Understand, you are not coiling up the net into one hand and casting it like the traditional method. The instructions to throw this net requires you to let it hang down it's full length while grasping the center ring. The motion is similar to throwing a Frisbee palm down (over the top) with the net draping down. When you throw the ring out, the net should use centrifugal force and open very nicely.
Now with that said, I purchased the 6' length and at 5'8" the net kind of drags when at a comfortable arm throw height . When you throw the net you may have to throw it some distance to get it to spin open. On the tutorial video, the individual is throwing this net approximately 10 - 15+ feet out in a pond with a nice high arc. Yes, it opens very nicely when done correctly. It's not hard to learn and easy with practice.
Here's the dilemma - If the species of interest is within close proximity to you (e.g. 2 - 5 feet), you may experience challenges to get it to spin and open. With their technique, you need to get the net to spin to open.
Overall, this product does deliver what it promises. I just wish some of these reviews provided more detail so we can make a better decision. Luckily, I purchased a traditional cast net as well.
Hope this helps...Good Luck this season!!!"

"Bought to use at the coast. I always wash my equipment with fresh water when I return home. The metal swivel is already rusting after 2 months. I would think it would be stainless steel."

Came as a shock!,June 23, 2008
By Anonymousfrom Springfield, Il.
"When I ordered the net I thought it was 7' diameter. It's not for beginners. However, even at 69 with the instructions paper that came with it I was able to catch 12 shad to one over my 33 year old son with his 8' diameter net. thanks!"

Fitec Super Spreader 750,September 24, 2007
By Baghdadfishermanfrom Baghdad, Iraq
"I was impressed. The net opens near perfect every time. I wish I had found the make years ago. The net was designed for shallow water because the rope isn't long enough for anything deeper than six feet. Don't let that discourage you because most bait fish are going to be in swallow waters."

Nice Net!,July 9, 2007
By MikeInMassfrom Ayer, MA
"This net has a nice weight and is easy to throw. I use mine in fresh water for shiners. I'm having fun and saving money by catching my own bait. In fact, the wild shiners seem to get more hits than the ones I was buying at the bait shop. I'm using the 3/8 mesh but will buy the 1/4 mesh next time to prevent the smaller shiners from escaping."
