Review 3 for Cabela's GORE-TEX® Guidewear® Uninsulated Bibs - Regular
I have gone through three sets of rainwear over the past ten years or so, and this is the only set that consistently keeps me dry, particularly in the seat of the bibs. After a week of hard fishing in Northeast Ohio (rain and miserable weather capital of the universe), the bibs and the jacket kept me dry and, even though billed as "uninsulated," pretty warm as well. In fact, I am wondering how hot I will get wearing this suit if we ever see a clear, hot day in Ohio, unlikely as that may be.
This is the first set of bibs/rain pants that holds up in the butt seam; all three of my other rain suits gave out in the seat after a week or less seven days of hardcore fishing vacations (on the water at 8:00am, off at dark). In case you're wondering what my frame of reference might be, I paid an average of seventy-five dollars for the other rainsuits; not a fortune, but not ballpark ponchos, either.
All of the seams in the bibs are very well made, as are those of the jacket. The jacket has three closure systems and keeps both rain and wind out nicely. Pockets are accessible in both the bibs and the jacket, and pocket closures keep nasty weather out of the stuff inside as well.
Although this suit costs considerably more than the middle-of-the-road-priced suits that came before it, I expect to save money in the long run because I don't expect to have to buy a new set of bottoms every year or two. And the suit looks good, too.
FIELD TESTED AND APPROVED FOR USE IN NORTHEAST OHIO, RAIN/LOUSY WEATHER CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!!!"

Just what I wanted,November 18, 2009
By 9999zzzzfrom Central Oklahoma
"Fits great with plenty of room for winter layers. Bib goes up high on the chest so I stay dry when throwing the cast net wearing the bibs and no jacket. The legs zip up high enough to get over large boots. One zipper keeps grabbing material and getting stuck but you just have to careful when zipping and its fine. A lot of garments do this and its not a quality problem. The first time out I got drenched and also covered with fish guts and scales. I tossed the bibs in the washing machine and they look like new. Great product. Expensive."

By speleoskifrom arkansas, colorado, anywhere
"i bought these primarily as an affordable alternative to high dollar ski bibs... they are awesome...
shredding through 30" of fresh powder at wolf creek CO... they're just fine....
hitting the tree trails... branches and snags... not an issue, thanks to the 500 denier cordura.
and because they are un insulated.. they are great for those Arkansas summer thunderstorms as well."

Great product,March 23, 2009
By JBBCaliforniafrom California
"The bibs arrived a few days before by 4 days out fo country fishing trip so I had little time to find an alternate if a problem surfaced. No need, the bibs are perfect. The pocket placement is great and the bibs fit like a glove. They also breath so I did not feel like I had on the old style rubber rain gear. Well worht the money and would purchase again! If these are on your list, move them to the top!"

Gore-Tex Guidewear uninsulated bibs review,March 18, 2009
By Steve1953from Avid outdoorsman in Dallas, TX
"Overall these are an awesome choice if you plan to use them for most outdoor sports. I bought them to use for fishing and these definately fit the ticket for that. Probably too heavy duty for summer use unless it's cold outside. Definately a great 3 season choice (winter, fall and spring). I wear wear a thin 1st layer and then a insulation layer if nececcessary on real cold days. The material for the entire bibs is heavy duty and will hold up even when worn through heavy brush. I wish these bibs had a powder cuff to keep snow out around the ankles. I wore them recently while riding a snow mobile and they work great....but a powder cuff would keep snow and wind from entering around your ankles. The outer pockets are huge, plenty of room to carry just about anything in them, plus a drain grommet allows water out of the bottom of the pocket. The suspenders are heavy duty and very comfortable, easy to adjust. This newer style bib has an easy to use front zipper that can be adjusted with gloves on, no flaps with velcro over the zipper. Instead the zipper itself is a newer technology with rubber flap built in. The Gore Tex fabric is one of the newest from Gore labs using the Performance Shell fabric. An overall great choice you will enjoy!"

Excellant Quality,January 14, 2009
By UpperPeninsulaMichiganfrom UpperPeninsulaMichigan
"Excellant Quality, useful attention to details. I bought short and it is a quality fit. Heavy duty velcro @ leg bottoms and leg zippers and front entry zipper. Ykk zippers with pull tab and YKK snap, D-rings on outside bellows pockets (2) that have drains in case you put something wet inside. Pockets have heavy duty velcro on storm flap. Easy on lining and elastic back, one pull-tabbed velcro closure inside mesh pocket and sewn on name tag in case you lose it. Soft cloth piece sewn inside flap behind top of Ykk entry zipper so top doesn't chafe you. Reinforced corners on pockets and reinforced knees and seat. They didn't miss a thing. This could be called 'weather armor', it is well worth the money."
