Works great so far,November 21, 2009
By BigStormfrom Southern WI
"Used it on a 4 day trip with mostly rain and temps in the low 40's. Never got wet at all and got a size large enough that i could wear layers underneath. Also wear it when in the boat when its cold - helps block the wind"

Guidewear second to none,November 18, 2009
By Kenfromwvfrom Fayetteville,WV
"A great product and very well made. The material is comfortable and although I have read reviews that said that the material is to stiff I have not found that to be the case after throwing crankbaits all day. A zip off hood would be a fantastic improvement. The material is very wind proof as well as waterproof and is very easily cleaned The size chart was very accurate but be sure to go a size larger if you are going to wear a heavy or bulky jacket underneath. with a heavy shirt and heavy fleece jacket I was able to stay with the size recommended in the size chart. I have read that the zippers were difficult however I found them no problem though they are stiff in order to be waterproof."

Great stuff...,November 18, 2009
By 9999zzzzfrom Central Oklahoma
"Gore-Tex is pricey but it sure works good. I have wanted some Guidewear for a long time but I wasn't willing to spend the money. I got these at a huge savings and the fit and performance is great. Materials and assembly are top quality. Highly recommended."

guidewear raingear,October 19, 2009
By tman5165from great upper midwest
"I would tell you the latest gear doesn't feel to be the same quality as the old guidewear gear I returned because of an unraveled seam. The old jacket and panse were excellent for being water repellent. This J & P don't have the same level of being water repellent as the old gear. They updated some of the features, such as less irratating velcro and better zippers but the actual goretex material doesn't seam to be the same quality. I have only had the chance to wear it one day in the rain for less than 2 hours. But this spring I know i will get the opportunity to use it for extended periods on rainy days. My opinion at this point is that it needs more testing before recommending this product to someone, when you are spending that much money on raingear."

bombproof,August 17, 2009
By speleoskifrom arkansas, colorado, anywhere
"i bought this parka along with the bibs... primarily for snow skiing... but will use them for a lot more than that.. i like the uninsulated ones because i can always layer up underneath when i need to keep warm... this will keep me dry and take a beating as well... nothing adds insult to injury like tearing your jacket after whiping out on a double black.. not a problem with this jacket- 500 denier cordura holds up to about anything... in response to those who say the material is to stiff--- well, thats what 500 cordura nylon is like... it's designed to be durable, this is the same stuff they make duffel bags out of... anyway, great product that can handle the abuse for years to come!!
thanks!!"

Beware of the zipper,June 17, 2009
By StealyDan1
"I had read previous reviewers comments about the problems with the zipper, but was a little skeptical that it could be as bad as they said. So I went ahead and ordered the parka. Unfortunately I couldn't agree more with the criticism. It is very difficult to get it engaged to start, and requires too much force to pull up and down. I'm surprised Cabela's would put their name on such a flawed product. Everything else about the parka is as good as advertised though."

excellent,June 2, 2009
By Wishitwaswarmerfrom Iowa
"This worked great with a Polartec classic hooded fleece jacket another fleece jacket and some long underwear I was pretty warm in the rain and wind fishing and bear hunting in Alaska. We were on small boats on the water. I have never had any rain gear that would have been even close to comfortable before under the conditions. Although I did get a little wet after a couple days in the rain it only leaked up my arms to my elbows. It is also tough."

Guidewear parka,May 12, 2009
By Leratofrom Nulato AK
"I'd give it five stars except that the zipper is really hard to both start and to zip. Plus it's heavy and a bit stiff. But, I love all the pockets and it does keep the rain off and mud brushes off."

Cabela's GORE-TEX® Guidewear® Uninsulated Parka -,May 5, 2009
By TChickfrom Eliot, Maine
"For wildlife photography I like plenty of pockets and this coat has 15 which I find a big plus. It has sturdy construction, and keeps rain and wind out. The biggest negative is the zipper and issues related to the zipper. The length of the regular model is excessive which means to reach the zipper you have to fold the coat up about 6 inches making starting the zipper very difficult. Along with this the weather stripping fabric on both sides of the zipper press on the zipper requiring excessive force to pull the zipper against the fabric. Additionally, the pull tab on the zipper is not adequate for the force required. Fumbling with the zipper is the reason I would not recommend this product to a friend. Too bad considering the other fine points the coat has."

Great Product,January 20, 2009
By BCsearsfrom Seattle Washington
"One of the best jackets I have ever owned, designed with comfort in mind. Used this jacket in Alaska and it provided outstanding protection from the cold, snow and rain. The only thing I would change is the hood, design a way to roll it up and tuck it away. Thanks for a great product Regards Brian"

Zipper broke,March 31, 2008
By BrokenZipperfrom Apple Valley, MN
"Hopefully Cabelas comes threw and supports there products. I have worn my coat for 5 days total and a few hours here and there, not to exceed 10 hours. And the zipper has broke off. Actually tore off. Now the zipper is stuck in the middle. So much for rain proof. I'm really upset at a coat that cost so much and broke so easily."

Nice Shell!,February 20, 2008
By suzeskifrom CO
"I used this jacket on a recent ski trip - worked very well as a wind shell over fleece layers, keeping me dry & warm even in blowing snow and cold conditions. One improvement could be to make the hood removeable and/or fold into collar. It doesn't fit well over a helmet."

Just what I wanted,February 20, 2008
By BBCCaptainfrom Atlanta
"Bought this for 2 days of steelhead fishing in Oregon last month (Jan '08). Bought it large to accomodate layers. Kept me plenty warm. Fit and finish are good. Drew admiring comments from the guide. It'll take me a few more trips to figure out how to use all the pockets. I am still trying to find a cigar I slipped into one!"

GREAT SUIT,January 30, 2008
By FISHERWIFEfrom PA but use in Northern Minnesota
"This is the third suit purchased. My husband bought me one for Christmas several years ago-it was so great he bought one for himself and now we purchased one for one of our "fishing buddies". Great quality, comfortable and easy to take on and off-really keeps out the rain."
