Felt for stability and traction
Seasoned fishermen know the value of a good pair of wading boots. They know how a good pair of boots can extend a day on the water, and even save you from taking a dip when crossing slippery rocks in fast-moving water. That's the fisherman we designed our new Guidewear Wading Boots for. We started with high-grade synthetic leather uppers and rustproof brass hardware to provide superior durability and rot protection. To protect the high-stress toe area, we used triple-stitched Wade Guard™ toe caps. Then we put in a 2mm Neostretch™ neoprene lining and padded collar for comfort. But some of the best features are on the bottom of the boot. A Goodyear® welted outsole is super durable, plus it provides an extra-wide footprint for stability and traction. The double-stitched felt outsole gives superior streambed traction through the entire footprint. Lastly, the extra-wide tongue gusset and opening allows for extremely easy on and off. Men's whole sizes: 8-14. Color: Brown.

Very Solid Boot - Good for the $,November 20, 2009

"I bought these boots over a year ago and have used them A LOT!! And, I'm pushing 250 lbs, so these boots are put to the test. I did not find that I needed to order a size up. I am a 10 1/2 EE and usally order size 11. This size definitley not too small for me. If anything, they are too wide! These boots are solid, comfortable, and offer good enough arch support. I like a nice, wide flat platform for good stability in the water, and these have it. I do find, however, that they are difficult to tighten. These are my first synthetic boots, so maybe this inflexibility is common to synthetic boots?? I don't think the felt is as grippy as some, but all felt is grippier than any rubber you can find, hands-down! The big loop on the back is nice for pulling the boot on over waders, especially with cold hand and/or with gloves. But, my loop started to tear early on - I think I was forcing it a bit. The padding on the collar is flaking off and has been for a while. My laces are starting to break as well. This is all after a year of hard use. Overall, they are great for the money, but the construction looks better than it is."

"I am very happy with these wading boots. After reading other reviews prior to purchasing I chose to order one size larger than normal shoe size. I'm glad I did. I live in the Northeast and usually wear a heavy pair of wool socks when I go wading. The boots definitely would have been too small for this if I ordered my normal size. Even in the larger size the boots were pretty snug with the heavy socks and neoprene booties of my waders(Cabela's DRY-PLUS GII). After a few outings the boots stretched a bit and fit very comfortably now. I am pleased with the quality of these boots (especially at the current price)."

"I bought these boots for fly fishing in the Great Smokie's National Park here in Tennessee they are very well made. The laces I changed out for some quality boot laces the ones that came with it were kinda hard and didn't seem like they would stay tied. These boots are very comfortable and the felt bottoms grip very well they seem to dry pretty quick as well order them in your size they seem to run a bit large I have 3mm Cabella's waders and there is still room inside with socks and the stoking foot waders so far I love them very nice fit. 5 stars from me."

"Received the boots last week in 3 days. They seemed to be very stiff when I got them. Tried them out today in Southern Colorado. Boots broke in very fast and had very good footing and ankle support. The black felt soles were much better than my other pair on the slick rocks. Ordered my regular shoe size and they fit well with the neoprene stocking foot hip waders that I have."

"Went on a Steelhead exploration trip at the Cattaraugus Tributary and Elk Tributary to Lake Erie on September 7th 2009 encountering mud, fast currents and rock. Walkerd several miles in and out of the water, caught an 8 pounder in the fast water and came home without a slip. The boots are extremely comfortable and met my every expectation. My fishing buddy said I should have gotten the studs for winter ice but I am fine with the felt bottom. ( I have over shoe spikes I use for ice but he may be correct in that it is better to have them on the boot. I can add them this winter if it is a problem)."

"These are the first pair of boot I have bought in twenty years. I never expected to find any boots as easy to get on and off. The pull loop at the back makes an tough job into a slick task.
I was having trouble, the old boots had lost their ability to with stand the water pressure in the toe area. These new boots have a solid toe box that I will never have to concern myself with that issue again. I ordered a pair one size larger but worried about them being awkward. Not so, if fact there is room for some rubber athletic in-soles to have more arch support and make them even more comfortable.
I fish 4 or 5 times a week. In the streams and lakes around home and wading in the ocean for stripers and blues. Handleing saltwater is a lot to ask of any materials. The brass eyelets will last forever and the solid leather will keep everything out.
These boots are time tested and are well thought out. For those who treat fly fishing as a religion, as I do, hours and days in the water, over the rocks, in surf and sand will all be a breeze."

"What size you order is only thing you have to worry about I wear a size 11 wide in ever pair of boots I’ve ever bought , I order a size 11 and I sent hem back TOO BIG , I return them for a size 10 and they fit grate and fell even better, and I still have sum room for play. "Prior to these wading boots, I owned the Cabela’s Guide boots, which had the same Wade Guard™ toe caps and Goodyear® welted outsole. They had higher tops but no speed-lace eyelets. Those boots lasted over ten years, and I have fished a lot over those years! I live in Colorado. I fish the Arkansas, the South Platte in Eleven-Mile Canyon, and the South Platte in Cheesman Canyon on a regular basis. All these rivers have slick, sharp angled rocks in the streambed; these rivers are definitely not easy on wading boots. I am constantly amazed at how well my old boots have held up. I could probably go another couple of seasons on them, but I saw the new Guidewear Wading Boots in Cabela’s on-line catalog. The design had the same durable outsole and toe cap; however, they looked significantly more comfortable with the lower tops, extra padding around the opening, and apparently a wider toe cup. In addition, the top two eyelets are speed-lace eyelets.
I ordered them on-line and they arrived in three days! I took them to the Arkansas the next day and was extremely pleased with my order. Everything I anticipated about their design was true. They have the same durable construction as my old Cabela’s boots, yet they are much more comfortable and easier to get on and off. I don’t understand some of the reviews that complained about them holding water. Mine have drains (just like my old pair) and they quickly drained once I got out of the water. Also, here in low-humidity Colorado, they dry very fast, so that is not an issue. I am sure a guide could wear out these boots, but I will be surprised if I do. My feet could not be happier with these new boots!"

"These are the best wading boots I've ever owned. After a full day of fishing my feet are still comfortable. Other boots I've owned that aren't sturdy make my feet feel like they are being crushed by the water and I can only go a few hours. These are like wearing a good pair of hiking boots. Only complaint (very minor) is that they take a while to dry."
