Magnifier Lamp,

"I would rate this product 4, or maybe 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that I had to contact the manufacturer to get it to work properly. When I first got it, it would not hold its position, which makes it pretty much worthless.
I contacted the manufacturer about this. After faxing a sales slip to prove that I had purchased their product, they sent me new springs which seems to correct the problem. Even with the new springs, though, I found that I am limited as to where I set up the lamp in order to get it to hold its position for my intended use (fly tying).
All in all, I think I'm going to like it."

Great lamp but big,

"This lamp does everything it's supposed to do and does it well. Good magnifier, strong tension in the springs that hold it in place, easy to adjust. All with an economical price!
Then why not 5 stars? Well, it's big and heavy, which is fine if it is permanently mounted. However, I unfortunately have to dismantle my fly tying station each time I use it and put it away in a closet. So, the size and weight becomes a factor for me. It would get the 5th star from me if I have a permanent installation."

One Light - Many Uses,

"My wife purchased this for me and now I wonder how I ever got by without it. I use it tying flies, cleaning and working on my guns, small repair work etc. The light is the perfect amount of illumination and there's always a way to adjust it for your work. I also like the fact that there's an electrical outlet on the base, so I can plug small tools right into the base close to my work."

"Fairly good product with a very reasonable price.
A little to much play in joints and sometimes drifts. Turn knobs are not sturdy enough to take the kind of tightening that is required to hold lens steady. Had to remove knobs and tighten with pliers. Good light source. Very fair price for average product."

"I am 60 years old with tri-focal and find this to be the best comination magnifier/lamp I have used and for the money it is the best I have used. In fact compared to the similar system I used while working as a nurse which I know was far more costly, I found it more useful in that I was able to adapt it to my long set up bench and the location can be changed with less effort than any other I have used. Thank you for a great product and value for the money spent."

"Light is easy to set up and provides good lighting and magnification. Only issue I have, and it is annoying, is the switch is tricky to get the light to come on. I have to hold the switch down while the light is warming up and then let go at the right time for it to stay on. Not sure if this is normal. It is a pain because the last thing I want to due is waste time getting the light to start up. It's almost like lighting your old favorite camping stove that never wanted to start on the first try."

"This is exactly what I was looking for to tie flies. It's heavy duty and provides excellent magnification and lighting. It is portable if desired, but requires a heavy surface to affix to, so it might be easier to get a smaller, lighter unit if you need to move it a lot."

"I've been tying flies for two years now, and decided that a magnifying lamp would be a help given my presbyopia! Boy, was I right. Tying a size 20-22 under the lamp is like tying a size 6 with my glasses on. It anchors to your desk or tying table, and then swings out of the way when not in use. The light is bright, the glass clear and anyone would benefit from adding this to their arsenal."
