The perfect reel for the performance-minded angler. The popular Litespeed has a scratchproof finish that is much
more durable than the Type-3 anodizing of past Lamson models. Bang it
against rocks, scratch it with your keys, this finish will take the abuse and still look like new. A new method of finishing
creates a smoother surface and a shinier look, yet retains all the same durability and toughness of Hard Alox. The
extremely lightweight Litespeed is equipped with a stainless steel clutch that is impervious to corrosion.
Unlike other drag systems that use two flat surfaces for braking control, Lamson's conical drag utilizes
two cone-shaped elements that are matched together for a precise fit. This system acts to completely seal
the drag from the effects of moisture, salt and grit. When the drag is adjusted, spring tension draws the
two elements together, creating variable rates of ultrasmooth braking. Because the mass of the drag
elements is centralized, the reel is more responsive to lighter drag settings. The average radius of the
contact surface is also much smaller than a disc-shaped drag, eliminating startup torque.
The Torrington zero-lash roller clutch has a number of ramps and rollers to achieve torque
transmission. There are no teeth or steps to break off or wear out. The zero-lash feature delivers
instant line engagement for improved feel and to eliminate the spike that the reel, line and leader
experience when a typical pawl clutch hooks up. A 3X torque rating safety factor ensures an unlimited
service life.

Lamson Litespeed,March 30, 2009
By Kingfisher39from Hopkinton MA
"Great Reel, good technology and a very fair price for the performance it provides. Its a good workhorse and will be reliable under almost all circumstances. The new Hard Alox finish seems to be indistructable, other brands could take notice."

Tried and True,January 13, 2009
By tippetsnapperfrom Horsham, PA
"I bought this for my 8 wt with an extra spool for both shooting head and floating lines. For me the drag system is far superior to anything I've used before. I've had river smallies and steelhead making this reel scream, and any mid-fight drag adjustments are smooth and flawless. They could charge double and it would be worth it."

Lamson Litespeed 2.0,June 30, 2008
By FlyR
"I purchased a Lamson Litespeed to go with my new Orvis 5wt. Helios rod. The weight of the reel really impressed me and it balanced well with such a light rod. Casting all day with such a light outfit was great. The reel's drag is smooth and the new Hard Alox finish looks good. Lets face it, there are comparable reels for about the same price, but this reel looks just so "cool"."

Great Reel,May 26, 2008
By PhilBfrom Frisco, TX
"I have this reel on my 5wt G.Loomis Streamdance GLX, it has been a fantastic reel. It is lite and can handle large fish - I love the drag. I've used this reel to catch large trout and large bass, it's performed very well. High performance reel at a reasonable price point."

Broke twice,October 31, 2007
By PATroutmanfrom PA
"I purchaced the fiirst one and took it out west to Oregon's Deschutes River. The drag broke/stopped working on my first steelhead. I returned it recieved a replacement. I was checking the drag to make sure it worked and noticed a pice of plastic fall out of it. Here it was the ratchet paw and though it was not a functional part of the drag, it does indicate the speed at which line is taken out. I will be getting a refund this time."

Lamson Litespeed Reel,October 14, 2007
By wolfridgefrom Vermont
"I have used a Lamson Litespeed 3.5 reel for saltwater flyfishing for the past 8 years and find it to be one of the best products I've ever purchased. It has never failed. I constantly get beach sand in the rim and just rinse it in the brine. After 8 years, there is zero sign of corrosion. I recently unhesitantly purchased another one just like it for my back-up outfit. This is a great saltwater reel."

Super light and well made,June 22, 2007
By Olebridgefrom NM
"I have this reel on a 5wt Winston Boron IIx. The reel is super lightweight and works perfectly. I recently fished this on a blown out super fast river. I did not lose a fish with this reel, even when I should have. The drag is great.
It does not hurt that the reel looks cool as well.
This is by far the best fly reel I have ever owned."
