sleeping pad,
April 23, 2009
By minnesotamusher
|
"I used a new one I purchased on a 4 day camping trip in the BWCAW and the insides separated after the second night. Not fun to sleep on rock for the rest of the trip. A huge bubble formed right in the mid section of the pad making it almost impossible to sleep on as the bubble kept shifting around with my movements. I also have an old Cabela's pad that is still in great shape after 15 years."

"The mat doesn't inflate to it's specified thickness unless you blow it up. Once it is completely inflated it does provide some cushion. I have not tried it for a week in the wood yet."

Good for car camping..,

"This is a nicely constructed pad that would be ideal for car camping. It is too big and bulky (and heavy at 4lbs) for a pack. I was impressed with the comfort. No comment on longevity since it is still fairly new."

Review in Progress.,

By SuprisedSoFar

"I have used this pad (3) times to date. I have previously only used closed cell pads. I will admit I have always been skeptical of anything inflatable. This pad is slowly changing my mind. It provides the warmth I expect from a sleep pad as that extra layer between me and the ground and enough comfortable padding for me to abandon my closed cell pads so far. The real test will be next month when I go backpacking in the mountains. If it provides the warmth I need and keeps my back from aching in the morning Ill be sold. That said, Ill hold my recommendation to other people until after that trip. So far though I am impressed."

Kept warm and comfortable,
January 22, 2009

"I signed up to help the Boy Scouts with their winter camping trip. I have always slept on an old style rollout 1/2 inch mat. With zero degree temps and my 41 year old body, I decided it was time for more comfort and insulation. The Cabelas self-inflating sleeping pad worked perfect. With one night at zero degrees and the 2nd night at 17 degrees, I was comfortable with the 2 inches of padding and was helped in keeping my zero degree bag functioning with this excellent pad. Thanks for a great product. I hope to get a smaller one for backpacking. I bought the large one for this trip as it was drive in camping."

Excellent Sleeping Pads,
November 3, 2008
By DrJosh
from Saratoga, NY

"In preparing for a 5 day backpack hunt for early muzzleloader season in the Adirondacks here in upstate NY with my Dad and two brothers, I discovered that two of the four air mattresses we usually haul into the woods did not hold air at all. Being that it was three days before we were leaving, I immediately went to the Cabela's site and bought two of these pads in the large size. The pads were very light and easy to strap down to our packs. They were very easy to set up, taking only about 60 seconds and 15 or so breaths. Being that I bought the mattresses, I gave one to my dad and the other I used (and let my brothers take the old, heavy, leaky air mattresses). Being that I weigh 235 pounds and my dad goes 330, I was slightly concerned about the pads popping at some point. As it ended up, the two of us had never had a better night's sleep in the woods. Both pads held air for all four nights, kept the cold from coming up from the ground and couldn't have been more comfortable. This is an excellent product and I would reccomend it to anyone."

Self-inflating sleeping pad,
September 29, 2008
By KayakJack
from Island Falls, ME
|
"After many years of sleeping on foam sleeping pads, my old bones revolted and insisted that I explore other options. A recent kayak/camping trip forced me to do so. I ordered a self-inflating sleeping pad from Cabela's and three nights in the North Woods never felt so good. I found that I had to manually blow in some air to achieve the firmness I wanted, but that was easy. I'm looking forward to some fall camping and the comfort and added insulation this sleeping pad will provide. I compared prices with other outfitters and found this reasonable. My bones rejoice!"

Finaly, One that realy works!,

"Earlier this month, I ordered this self inflating sleeping pad for a deer hunting trip I was going on with my son. In years past, I've been absolutely miserable sleeping in the back of my truck. Due to disc replacement surgery I had 3 years ago, It's always been a priority to find a decent pad to sleep on. This is the only one that's maintained its firmness and hasn't leaked or given me any problems. The valve set up is fantastic... Just open it up and it inflates on its own...Thats it...No blowing it up! (And "It really works!") Also, I was using a sleeping bag with a nylon fabric exterior and the bag never slipped of the pad. I'll be ordering another one for my son very soon. PW San Francisco"

This pad converted my dad,

"I am a 16 year old and me and my dad go camping a lot. My dad has tried some mattresses before and didn't like them. He had tried the foam mattresses and had become content with them. I had told him how amazing and comfortable they were but he didn't believe me. I forced him to try it and he loves it. He is now going to get one. I love it and think that it is the right amount of weight for the right amount of cushion."

Great for Old Guy,

"Just spent 45 days on a road trip to Alaska and slept on the pad on top of cot each night. Added a gentle firmness that I liked. Just wish the large size had been in stock when I was ordering my pad. I am average size but the larger pad size would have been better. Great pad and worked as advertised."

Cabela's Self-Inflating Sleeping Pads,
July 24, 2008
By Stacyart01
from A Digital Artist, Beachwood, New Jersey
|
"Since I was shelling out for the XPG Ultralight tent, I thought I might as well go for this too. The sale price and free shipping sure helped. Think of what you pay in gas now just to go to a camping store. If you wake up in a beautiful mountain campsite but your back is aching from a rock or in a knot from the cold and damp, it's worth it for the extra bucks. I'm not a kid anymore and might as well cut back on the wear and tear. Time is nobodies friend..."

So easy!,

By jt4hills

"We bought these for the family instead of hauling air mattresses that we have to pump up. We purchased the 3 inch thick ones, just enough to keep you comfy! They were great, just open the valves let the air in. To pack up, just open the valves back up to let the air out and roll them up. Definately a must have on any camping trip!"
