Quick work,November 19, 2009
By TheGrayRider
"I had a SL-100 red boresighter and decided to upgrade as I was upgrading scopes on all of our rifles(wife/son/mine). Using a bench rest and scope levels to mount the new scopes, I decided to incorporate the SL-500 and their software downloadable targets while mounting. Set the targets at recommended ranges. Using the rear mounting screws on the Leopold mounts, I aligned the scope cross hairs to the lazer beam then tightened rear mount screws. Only needed to tighten the ring mount screws to get elevation alignment with lazer. Took to firing 100yd firing range. EACH and EVERY rifle fired within the 5 inch bull with an average of 1 to 1 1/2 groups. Average elevation up adjustment was 4 to 6 clicks(1 to 1 1/2 inch). Average windage aduustment was a constant 2 to 4 clicks left. Average rounds fired per rifle-5 (this was to set 1 inch moa center bulls at 100yds).
The SL-500 is an exceptional boresighter when used and sighted in conjunction with a good bench rest/gun vise, levels, downloaded target(s). When sighted/mounted this way, each and every rifle fires within a 100yd 5 inch bull in a tight shot group. From there you just need to adjust to center bull. Take a marker and ruler and make an exact hor/ver cross and measure with a ruler. 1/4 inch on ruler is one click on scope(1/4 moa). ((note: this is easiest done by leveling your target prior to shooting.)) You save a lot of rounds this way, your rifle properly aligned to scope, and your shot groups will be a lot tighter with less variation down-range. I can't help you with the wind; sorry.
For an old man like me this lazer sighter is a god send when range firing around the young bucks that think old men should just fade away. Tight shot groups will do that to them every time. Sometimes they actually listen.
Thanks Cabelas."

Very useful boresighter.,October 7, 2009
By L75INFfrom IDAHO
"I've used this unit extensively to pre-zero rifles in my shop. I use it in conjunction with a RCBS balistic program that allows me to input bore to line of sight dimension, pre-zero range, and desired zero range. My experience is that the actual target zero will be off no more than 3 MOA. It really saves a lot of ammo, and frustration. Also, this is a powerful laser, and it works well in bright sunlight."

SL-500 boresighter,August 29, 2009
By TR25061385from Indiana
"I boresighted at 25 ft. 6 guns in my basement before taking to the range using the included instructions. Because I was a novice at using a boresighter, I followed the instructions carefully. 4 of the guns were 12 ga. slug guns and two were 50 cal. muzzle loaders. Two were mine and the other 4 were for friends. At the range all guns were on paper and in fact all but one were within 3" of the bulls eye. This boresighter worked very well and was very easy to use. I don't know how well it would work with other guns, but with shotguns and muzzies, I don't know anything that would improve this product except selling it a little cheaper."

Found defective scope,July 27, 2009
By Happy21
"I had a 300 RUM that I could not bring the shell on the paper with a new scope that I had purchased. Bought the laser and found that the crosshairs were not moving when adjusted. The laser was the thing that pointed out the problem without continuing to shoot expensive shells to no avail. The purchase was money well spent."

Shotgun Scopes - No Go,April 23, 2009
By MidolBobfrom Phoenix AZ
"First of all, the boresighter claims the green beam is good out to 100 yards - Yes - If it is pitch black outside. Daylight use isn't any better than the cheaper models.
Second, I bought the Cabela's Pine Ridge scopes for my Charles Daily and Mossberg 935. I did a rough eye boresight on a target (used the shotgun bead) and was constantly wacking Gobblers at 50 yards. I bought the laser borsight to refine my scope. The purchase was a waste of money. The boresighter comes with two rubber grommets for 20 and 12 gauge shotguns. Neither of the grommets where large enough to fit the barrel/choke circumferances of the guns. The laser boresighter was loose and would not provide true boresight ceneter of the shotgun. I attempted to use some electrical tape on the rear part of the boresighter for a true center and tight fit. Still did not work.
I would like to know what shotgun model the system was designed for. I also have tried the Cabela's cartridge laser boresighters. They are worthless as well.
This product might be great for rifles n pistols, but worhtless for shotguns."

Good snug fit,March 10, 2009
By Admiralkingfrom Las Vegas, NV
"The boresighter fits nice and snug in my 300 win mag. The initial sight in at 25 feet was not very accurate. You would be better off going out to the range and sighting the scope in to the laser point at a greater distance. This is what we did and the first shot at 100 yards was 4 inches high and left. After you finish sighting in, the boresighter is great for a quick double check out in the field."

SL 500 Site Lite laser,February 9, 2009
By msfdbsfrom Southern California
"AWESOME! 15 minutes to zero my new scope! Took it to the range and it was within 1" at 200 yds. Never before have I only needed one shot to zero my rifle--that is helpful with a 300 win mag. Comes with everything to zero just about any firearm you might have. Also used it to verify my sights on my pistol with laser grips. both iron sights and the laser were dialed right in in about 15 minutes also. When I went to the range, the pistol was perfectly zeroed. WOW."

Worth the price in ammo...,July 21, 2008
By GreyBarkfrom the woods of Pa.
"Easy to use with good instructions. If you prefer not to waste ammo, esp with the price of quality loads from the likes of Corbon, you should invest in on of these. I have LaserGrip sights on my Glock 29, and my wife's new S&W 422, plus the addition of my Henry with a TruGlow red dot sight, and this product had me driving tacks within a few rounds after first aligning the lasers. The only thing to watch is making sure the o-ring doesn't slide down to the next ring on tight fitting barrels/o-ring selection using the correct chart."

By 404EVERfrom Denver, Colorado
"I found the lasser bore sighter to be off by over 12 inches at 100 yards. I tried the sight on two different rifles and had the same result. I had to use 30 shells to re-align my scope. I am not happy with the product. I will be returning it to you."

Green Laser boresighter,September 17, 2007
By Arizonabuffalofrom Central Arizona
"This boresighter works just like the catalog said it would, and it really is bright enough to see in the daylight at 100 yards. It's visible in the Arizona sunshine at highnoon, even. The rubber grommets hold the boresighter snug enough in the bore without being too snug to remove easily. Thanks for a fine product. I would highly recommend this boresighter to anyone needing such a device.

"used it at the range outdoors. 50 yard range on a pair of .22 caliber rifles and 30-06 bright sunshine middle of the afternoon.green dot was easy to see on backstop and was simple too bring crosshairs to it.biggest reason i bought it was to be able to check scope alingment without firing a shot.when your packing in to camp it's nice to check your scope so you have one less thing to worry about when it's time to take that shot of a lifetime."

Not the best,April 17, 2007
By tyran58from zillah,WA.
"I have used this boresighter on different rifles, and have found it to be a pain, and not worth the money that i paid. When using this product you better have a large target, and when they said start sighting in at 25 yards that is what it means,at 100 yards you will shoot really high. I purchased a boresighter that uses a grid pattern in the boresighter it self by BUSHNELL for 1/3 the price and is top of the line. I was maybe 1" low at 130 yards from the target, because thought target was 100 yard. excellent product, laser sighter not worth it. BUSHNELL boresighter 5 stars."

o-rings not that good,April 3, 2007
By 500smithandwesson
"Even when lubed with vaseline the o rings tend to move a little. You have to check very close. I have the Burris magnetic and the Tasco model as well as the SL500. All three seem to vary on the paper. The real test will be at the range. Coming soon. Not sure if its worth the cost over the red lazer."
