NO GO,May 19, 2009
By jafa
"I bought my 40 yesterday and tried it out at our dam, I noticed that when there's tension on the fishing line a skip is present, it's like something is loose or misaligned inside the reel. I brought it back for another today and tried the new one, same thing. everything is tight under the spool and handle is tight, the reel is secure, tried turning the drag all the way down, no change. returning tomorrow for a different brand."

smooth reel,December 23, 2008
By hawaiihotshotfrom Hawaii
"this reel has proven to be far superior to it's more expensive brother, and with a lot less ball berrings. The drag is quite large for the size of the reel, and is very smooth. I have put this reel through a lot, and it is still smooth as silk...excellent reel for the money."

Okuma can handle the rough stuff,April 29, 2008
By pinsjeepsterfrom Corpus Christi, Texas
"I fish in some pretty primative locations. The Okuma Salina is a well built reel with a smooth drag. The handle is one the other companies reserve for their more expensive high end reels. This is my second Salina for inshore. All my favorite spinning reels are Okuma, even the ones I use out in the surf. The bail is an effortless flick of the wrist. I have yet to have one fail on me."

Great SO far,April 25, 2008
By Mawwfrom Florida
"I have had this reel out three times to date. Have landed Spanish Mack, Rat Redfish and tons of Speckled/Sand Trout. It is very smooth and the drag at a relatively low setting has been outstaning. I am still waiting to see how it handles a big Redfish but based on what I have seen so far it should be fine. If it takes the salt like my Epixors I will be upgrading to this reel on all my rigs"

Salina spinning reel,October 22, 2007
By 2529pikefrom Connecticut
"I have a 40 and 45. Out of the box they were great, smooth, excellent drag. Within 1 season though both of them started to have a grinding feeling to the gears. My reels are always in use on bluefish and striped bass. Both reels had several hundred fish on them, so I guess I can't be too critical. For the average fisherman, I guess they are OK for the average fisherman."

"great little saltwater spinning reel. This reel has an oversized handle for its size it is great when you need a little x-tra leverage. The drag is as good as other competitors at half the price and can be customized. I have used is for surf perch and large mouth bass. would buy again."

super saltwater spinning reel,August 1, 2007
By zzzzbaarsfrom The Netherlands
"I fish for seabass in the netherlands and every year in february/march I go three weeks fishing in the Caribbean from a small motorboat and from the coast. There I catch wahoo, blackfin and small yellowfin tuna, biggest untill now 45 lbs. I fish with Finnor and Okuma spinning reels, size 4000. Last year I used the Okuma V-system and was very impressed about the performance of the drag. I fish with 20 lbs fireline and tuf line, so with the relative big fish I catch on very light tackle everything must perform 100 %. And that happened exactly. Therefore I was very pleased with the introduction of the salina by Okuma, the same drag as on the V-system reel, but much cheaper. I bought 4 of them untill now used them for fishing seabass, caught already some lunkers and the drag performed perfectly. For the price you cannot buy a better saltwater spinning reel at the moment"

Probably one of the best value in Saltwater,April 13, 2007
By SpinningReelfrom Europe
"I have used this reel in size 30 and 80 for fishing in the Carribeans. Its strongest point is probably the drag. The double surface makes it is progressive and VERY strong which coupled with the rigid metal frame and rotor and the EOS line lay, make it a lil powerhouse perfect for braids. You don't get the spare spool, but at this price its probably one of the best value quality spinning reels on the market. I foresee it becoming a classic like the Penn Spinfishers. Did I mention I landed a 50lbs YFT with the 80? Two thumbs up!"
